  • Our Culturally Curious Hop takes us to the 23rd Serpentine Pavilion, the brainchild of acclaimed Seoul-based Korean architect Minsuk Cho and his firm Mass Studies.
Aptly named “Archipelagic Void”, the unique design, which features five ‘islands’ and promises a unique architectural experience, each structure varying in size, form, and function. Built predominantly in locally sourced timber, these structures are supported by identical footings that adapt to the sloping topography of the site.
'The Library of Unread Books' by artist Heman Chong and archivist Renée Staal is a ‘living’ reference library - comprised of donated unread books to form a pool of common knowledge. There is also a Play Tower, auditorium and Tea House designed by James Grey West, a nod to the history of the Serpentine.
On view until 27 October 2024.
Music: The Willow Is 버들은, 2024. Composed by Jang Young-Gyu All instruments played by Jang Young-Gyu Vocals by Park Minhee.
