  • We conjugate the Ancient and Koine Greek verb λεγω ("lego" in Roman letters) in the present active indicative. λεγω means "I say" in old Greek. The verb is conjugated as follows:
    λεγω : "I say"
    λεγεις : "you say" (singular)
    λεγει : "he/she says"
    λεγομεν : "we say"
    λεγετε : "you say" (plural)
    λεγουσι : "they say"
The video's pronunciation follows Modern Greek convention.
λεγω is a great example of a regular present tense verse. These endings can be used with many other Greek verbs that follow the same regular pattern.
λεγω is a very common verb in ancient and koine Greek. It is among the most common verbs in the New Testament, for example.
Make this conjugation a song with a beat, and that will help you remember the endings.

You need to take note of where the accent is. When you say the word you stress vowel which has the accent. My advice is to ask a native Greek-speaker. If there isn't one available, then go to google translate and type the word and click on the speaker icon and listen.
    λέγω
    λέγεις
    λέγει
    λέγομεν
    λέγετε
    λέγουσι
Note that google translate gets confused if you type in Koine Greek words with circumflexes, grave accents, rough and smooth breathing marks. Eg the word ἑαυτοῦ should be written as εαυτού.
