My Latest & Greatest Traffic Light Configuration

- After a year of acquiring new gear for my controller cabinet and a LOT of troubleshooting, I finally got this beast running! A huge thanks to Nick, Sean and everyone else on the forum who helped me get my basement intersection to where it is now!
The purpose of the yellow arrow and light is redundant, yes, but it will become a flashing yellow arrow once I get the programming changed!
Also one side of my flasher burned out so that's why only some lights are flashing red during the initial startup.
Enjoy and feel free to ask any questions or if you'd like to see some custom phasing and crosswalk sounds!

I'm dying with the traffic countdown
I have a British siemans raghead lantern. It's featured in my lights out video.
The lantern in my case is fitted with pedestrian hoods as the traffic version would make it front heavy. I've also mounted the upper bracket to act as a counter balance, and the lower bracket stored in the base section for the same reason.

A few months ago I got a stop man pedestrian incandescent lens from the 80's which is my first item, a friend gave it to me and I am so happy to have it even if it isn't too much :)

Maybe I missed it on one your other videos, but does your Opticom Preemption system work or hooked up? I see the receiver for it on the wall.
UEdiver Nope, not yet. I have a card and everything but I haven't run power to the card or hooked up the wires yet. I have a schematic for that and my video detection card! That's my next project!

They could actually add some piano instrumental and beat to the beeping of the crosswalks and traffic lights.
Do I need a load switch for each signal I have or does one load switch control all north and south and another load switch controls all east and west?
A load switch can control a group of signals. One could control all main street signals or one per direction. Each direction should have 2-3 signals at least. I have all my load switches being used so I can run as many overlaps as I can but it's not necessary.

The sound at 2:40 sounds very similar to Sydney's traffic lights!
They are! The sound file is actually called "Australian Walk". It's basically the same as the Aldridge or Bob Panich buttons!

Why does the cuckoo repeat shortly and why there is even a flashing walk and a countdown as well? On the roads, does the countdown also start when the pedestrian signal goes to walk?
Countdowns usually start at flashing don’t walk but they do countdown from walk in some provinces or in some small towns. It’s technically not MUTCD compliant.

btw why is the amber light Rhombus and red light square? aren't they supposed to be circle?
In some parts of Canada, they had shapes to help the colour blind! Newer models are all circles now.
What does the flashing green arrow mean? (Is it a signal used in normal situations?)
It's a Canadian thing. It's the same as a solid left turn arrow but I think the rationale is to get drivers attention better and it helps to tell the difference between green and yellow since we like to use bimodal arrows.
As you know, I am American and I have never seen this traffic light sequence before
Explain me every stage of your setup.First there are these pedestrians,other some arrows,how each one work?They're really complicated to understand
So the arrows turn on to allow left turns off of the main street and right turns off of the side street. Then the main street traffic will proceed and the pedestrian signals go on at the same time. Then the side street gets to go, with pedestrians as well. I have some custom setups with the transit signal and right turn arrows as well that you wouldn't usually see all the time.

What kind of traffic light is the one who has two square red lights?
Well that one is a combination of a 2 section GE signal with square doors and a single section Econolite with a round door. I've modified that signal since this video. The one piece signal with the one square red light is a GE Gentrol. Very common in Quebec, PEI and some parts of New Brunswick (Canada).

Dan Chen All the signals are LED except the lane control light, which is fiber-optic and the light with the shapes. That signal is incandescent with a bi-modual fiber-optic arrow.

What’s the point of the flashing red even though there is no flash mode on the traffic signals?
It’s a feature used in the US. After the protected left turn is red, you can still make a left turn after a full stop while the other direction is green.

The flashing red lights basically are saying that you can proceed to make the turn after you come to a complete stop.
