Many others recorded it but the Little Eva version was the most successful. There wasn't a dance originally, but Little Eva created one and would dance while performing. Some believe it is actually Carole singing of the original recording. Carole King became a huge singer/songer later making an album that is an all time Monster Hit.

When I was a child some friends of my parents who worked in a radio station gave us a box of motown 45s and ofcourse this was one of them. We had an old gramophone with pretty Decent speakers and we played those records to death. I still love the supremes . The only thing I missed from this cover was the clapping. She did it but it wasn't audible. I'm impressed that such young people are even aware of motown. I hope this becomes a trend and I hope black people will realise that before rap or hip hop or drill or whatever stupid label they are using at the moment black people made really good music and not just a few good bands there was a whole industry of great music. Sometimes when I think about it "Smoke gets in my eyes".
