Thanks for all the videos pete! Great to see someone who is really passonate about regenerative agriculture. I live in Pasco and I'm hoping to do a tour of your farm in the near future. I watch your clips every morning. Keep it up!!
Thanks Pete I love this and will try it. Dade City has it all over downtown and they mow it and it bounces right back in direct sun, looks so much better than grass. 30 days went so fast, again thanks for your precious time. I will reference these Vlogs over and over again they are packed with so much knowledge. PS ( don't stop teaching❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️)
Becca Becca thank you! I didn't know Dade city planted peanut grass, that's awesome! It will recover from mowing fine but it tends to spread and little weeds, then makes the problem worsens.
Just purchased 2 plants to plant under my fruit trees. I wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for you. Thanks for always sharing your knowledge with us!
I want to grow perennial peanut. I have fed some of this to my goats ( I bought at a goat show in Florida) and OH MY, what milk production. So many folks confuse this with the peanut straw left over from harvesting peanuts in Alabama. That is rolled into hay, but is actually straw and not the nutrition of perennial. When I try to explain, folks eyes cloud over... Would love to grow a small patch for my Dairy Goats... Which would you suggest for us in full sun, Alabama.
That whole area was only 2 or 3 plants? How long did it take to take over that area? We’re going to pick some up this weekend and curious about how much we should buy.
Great advice! I've been working on a food forest in my backyard about 1/2 an acre and it's covered with Bermuda grass. Any advice you might have to to remove it? I've tried mulching but that stuff just grows right through the mulch
I had some growing in my front yard. It is so hard to get rid of. The roots are very deep. It did kill my grass after a year of putting down sod. I would dig and pull dig and pull. Let me know please if you find a solution. Thanks
plant sweet potatoes right now. it will outcompete the weeds including the grasses. i planted last may and it totally grew across my yard (all weekly mowed hard to kill grasses and weeds. the only thing that comes up thru it is the occasional bidens which is fine. pretty. and rabbit food. also edible. the sweet potatoes lose their leaves in about january and dont really leaf out good again till april. but the grass isnt growing then so no problem. i take that time to throw compost and mulch down. they will cross over into your raised beds etc. and you might have to beat them back from areas you dont want them. i ran the mower over them when they tried coming thru my path i was trying to keep clear. and i pull them all summer for rabbits. i started pulling the sweet potatoes out of the ground in dec and in jan i found about a dozen as big as my head. they also went to the rabbits. all you need are some stems from someone growing them, with or without roots attached. bury and water. im in swfl zone 10a.
I started an ornamental peanut area in my 1 acre backyard (I did remove all weeds in the area prior to planting peanut & applied mulch when first planted and I hand weeded). However, two years later, I have been unable to keep up with invading dogfennel weeds, Bermuda, Bahia grass and other weeds. What can I use on it to eliminate the Bermuda, Bahia and weeds? Thank you
This is the third time I have watched this, for some reason its not showing that I watched it. Sometimes I wonder about youtube, because this seems to happen a lot! Want to make sure you get what's due! Blessings!
1994abbygirl hahah thanks! I had to watch a "Round Up" commercial earlier.... At least I'm taking there money and turning it into something good right?
I need some of this, we just planted 8 grape vines, I would love to plant this around the area they are in so we don't have to worry about cutting around them. Need to find a place to order just seeds not plants, I don't need a whole pound of them and that's what I've found so far. No one around my area would sell something like this, it's always the same old same old.
Thanks
I will use this as my grass cover alternative in and around my mini- food Forest

Another, I have never heard of this moments! Boy, what my husband would give to have to mow only once a year! Blessings!
I'm so glad you're doing these videos. This is fascinating to keep up with!

That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing 👊
Thank you Pete! Awesome videos!
I assume this would work just as well in Lisbon.
All the best!
so animals can eat this? chickens, rabbits, cows, sheep? Super helpful video
Where did you buy your peanut plants. I am having a hard time finding them
We have a nursery. www.greendreamsfl.com
What is the best variety of perennial peanut for horse hay?
Nice where can I get seeds for them from & would it thrive well in the Caribbean?
We sell the plants, but not the seeds. I'd imagine it would thrive in the Caribbean
@@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL oh ok thanks
Can it be used in plantations as ground cover to eliminate weeds.
Yes, definitely!
just another great vlog

Oldesouth Farm id the say the eco turf, because is rizomatic. It will get set back by the cold, but should recover.
Wish there was a grower/landscaper with a similar UA-cam channel for temperate and cold climates!
Jefferdaughter I'll be spending some serious time in NE Maine this spring. I have a pretty epic video series up my sleeve.
You've come so far 🙂
That whole area was only 2 or 3 plants? How long did it take to take over that area? We’re going to pick some up this weekend and curious about how much we should buy.
It takes about a season of growing
i wonder if jumbo Virginia peanuts would work the same way in between tomatoes and peppers? It looks like it would. Thanks Pete
Would be interesting
tx so much
Where can i buy some of the floragraze peanut grass from?
We usually carry it, but check out the other perrennial peanut cultivars we have available on our Online Store here shorturl.at/vDI14
Have seen that and have been wondering if the more rhizomatic one would grow in the drier, hot, alkaline Phx Climate...another great video, Pete !
Hey Jeff! I'd agree for sure.
Great advice!

i think the solution is let it grow and forget growing grass. i need that problem.
Randy Ordaz Bermuda grass is brutal. You could burn it, solarize it or sheet mulch think and mulch extremely thick, like 12in minimum.
Everyone that I see using perennial peanut live in florida. Can this be grown in southern California? And will chickens eat the perennial peanut?
Clovado I would think this would do fine in Southern California, yes I've heard of chickens and horses eating this as forage.

What is that shade variety called again please? Floor Graze?
Close! It's "Florigraze"
@@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL Thank you!
Nice
OK, maybe a stupid question here, but, does it produce peanuts? I've heard there are ornamental varieties that do not. Is this true?
Ornamental Perennial peanuts do not.

can I grow that in middle Tennessee?
A google search for nitrogen fixing ground cover brought up this vlog. In the south it's supposed to last 30 years! Back to the tree planting vlog.
I bet it would last longer as it spreads and re-roots itself!
@@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL Pete is content is 5 years old. It's been a journey ✨️
Would this work in Colorado?
Not likely.
I feed this to my rabbits and we munch on the yellow flowers too...tastes like peanuts
Do you eat the yellow flower? And it taste like peanut?
Where to buy the Eco turf. I am in Punta Gorda
I would just check with your local commercial nursery.
Will this set off peanut allergies?
Good question. I wouldn’t think so, it doesn’t actually produce a peanut.
Pete Kanaris GreenDreamsFL thanks!
I am pulling out my grass. Replacing it with nitrogen fixer
Where is this bought?
Susan Paulson we sell and ship it. You should also be able to find it at your local nursery.
Does someone have it in Texas?
Possibly but we can ship it directly to you! Check out our online store! Click here shorturl.at/vDI14
This stuff is over taking my garden beds please help I need to kill it, it's so hard to pull out of the ground!
Normally this is the type of aggressive we are looking for.
Does perennial peanut actually have peanuts
No unfortunately. It’s a nitrogen fixing ground cover with edible flowers.
I’m getting one gallon buckets of peanut grass from a local nursery. Anyone have any idea how many I ought to buy to cover about a quarter acre?
Hundreds of rooted plants
Its really edible ???
The flower are the only edible part.
Where can i order seed?
Perennial peanut doesn’t set seed. You would need a root division or small plant.
Oh no it's day 29! Does that mean we only get 1 more day?!?! I will be very sad if this is the end! 😭 Or is it?!?! 🙃
Nature's Cadence Farm I'm not going anywhere:)
How is it with animals...ie dog pee.
Great, it doesn’t burn like regular grass.
