Not really. Ridge Racer 6 had it's fair share of No-Nitrous races as well. The last real Ridge Racer was Ridge Racer 7. Ridge Racer died when some dolt in Namco's executive board decided it would be a good idea to give the series to Bugbear.
Don't forget Ridge Racer Vita, a shame typical of today's "pay a 60$ demo" mentality. A rumor said that there would come a new Ridge Racer on the Nintendo Switch. Having finished Ridge Racer 7, a full experience without In-App Scam, I fear that this new entry puts lootboxes and IAP everywhere.
Personally, I like Ungrounded and 3DS, but no after that it became a DISASTER to work with. RRVita was just a pay 60$ for a tech demo game, I hope RR Switch does make an effort to avoid Lootboxes and IAP. If that happens, I can always just go grab my PS1 emulator to play RR1 through 4 plus it's spinoffs, and then play RR5 if I wanna go play something on PS2. Personally, I want to try Ridge Racer 6 and 7, but I don't have a PS3 to play the games.. :(
I don't think anyone realizes this theme is litterally pearl blue soul but at it's full power, since the angelus in this game done fking around lol(warping time and reality distortion effect is a sign of it, to indicate it's standings as a supernatural being).
I don't get how having nitrous suddenly makes the game not Ridge Racer. NFS: Underground is still considered a Need for Speed, even though it is completely different from the original Need for Speed. How can a few changes to the gameplay of Ridge Racer suddenly invalidate it's state as a Ridge Racer game? If that was the case, wouldn't that mean that Rage Racer isn't a real Ridge Racer either? It has mods, after all...
Meeeeee I’m a need for speed underground series guy and burnout series but I’m getting into grand turismo and ridge racer. Splash down rides gone wild is really good too and jak x combat racing is basically Mario kart for PlayStation but you don’t use karts it’s like other weird vehicles I can’t explain but there is also a twisted metal death match type thing plus is jak x a spin off of jak trilogy and I love jak trilogy

Ridge Racer was real and authentic to its concept until Ridge Racer 5.
Yet Ridge V takes parts of the first 4 games and uses them as one. It's very much classic Ridge.
From ridge racer 7 onwards, it has basically taken on cues from the NFS franchise, elements that distances itself from the original content.
