Omg, all I could think of this whole video was: "One of Sabrina Spellman's aunties (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, the 90's version series, Hilda specifically) is learning the reverse french technique!" 😆💖

Omg, Suzie! Hearing you say “more better” made me beam. My grandma, who was something of a grammar enthusiast, used to jokingly say “more better, now that’s proper English” whenever she wanted to tease me about doing something well. I haven’t heard anyone say it since she passed in 2018. Thank you for the unexpected reason to smile, along with the rest of the video!

@14:02 when the bit runs around the fingertip, you can avoid this by -NEVER- doing your motion sidewall to sidewall. Instead always work vertically by going from cuticles to free edge

And a big part of it is the motor's rotation direction, right? Avoid touching (at least not pressing down/making full contact with) the nail when the motor is spinning the same direction as you are moving it, or be mindful of that added force and further stabilise the drill when doing the back-and-forth motion.

I love the way you use simple words that are easy to follow.
I been doing my nails for more than 10 yrs.
I had made a lot of mistakes.
But I learn a lot about the greenies.
I also treat my nails with nail fungus medication after removing what I can.
And never to wet my nails with water while working on them.
Because that also causes the greenies.

And I had a similar situation with an instructor that wasn’t knowledgeable about nails. she was practicing with one of the other nail tech students on acrylic application during her first week there. It was really disappointing to see students coming in eager to learn how to do nails then have no choice but to learn from other students or just teach themselves.

GOOD question! My first video with Suzie (the Greenies) she explained that the middle finger is the longest so it's the most likely to get banged up. Your pointer finger is one of the most used fingers so it is also likely to get tossed around quite a bit. ... You have a toddler - you'll be doing SOOOO much with your hands - they help to bang us around as mums!!! I noticed my apex wasn't quite big enough - the round apex is the strength. Pay close attention to the apex and see if that helps you along. Let me know how you make out friend!

So much fun!! Is this product almost as strong acrylic? I'm so ruff on my nails. I think this set will be my birthday present to my self 🎂 and so much cheaper than getting my nails done. I can't get my nails done either, because they do what you teach us not to do. The last nail lady used a plastic extension piece to rip off the work you taught me to do 😤

    • @katiecampbell_1983music

Suzie has educated me that powder acrylic and poly gel are BOTH acrylic! The powder uses a chemical reaction with the liquid monomer to harden. The gel is an acrylic in a different chemical state and it is hardened via UV lights. So essentially they are both acrylic but they are 'cured' using different chemical processes. Suzie will tell you that the powder is a stronger product at the end of the day. I started with the Polygel because it is a little bit easier to use and learn on. Hope that helps!

  • @hannahriibeiiro

    Hi Suzie!
I have a question that I wish you could answer. I am no professional, I'm just someone who loves nails and I started learning a few years ago by myself, following youtube videos, especially yours - I've learned a lot about nails by watching all of your videos. But I still have some questions and one of the biggest ones is: How frequently can I do my nails with gel, acrylic and other types of nail products? I mean, we use uv/led lamps, isn't that bad for our skin if we do it frequently? You do your nails often and your hands look stunning, so I wonder.
Also, sometimes when I decide to remove my gel, I get weak nails (they were never strong, btw). Is it normal, is it because I apply the products incorrectly, or is it because of the quality of the products themselves (I buy the best price/quality available, not able to afford the highest brands, but they do the job and look beautiful anyway :) )?

The issues with the exposure of the lamps has been a big controversy. But the FDA did several studies which revealed that using the lamps for applying nails and gel polish is safe. It has been compared to literally walking to the car in the sun. There is some exposure to UV light but it is extremely minimal. The FDA approved that this was a very safe level. There is really no need to do your nails more than once every two weeks if your nails grow extremely fast and you have very short tiny nail beds then maybe one week at the most but you have to remember every time you apply you are working on new nail that is grown out which is never been exposed to anything before because it’s brand new. If you were at all concerned about the skin exposure than the expert Nail scientists recommend you simply put suntan lotion on.
As far as why do your nails become week after removing product is because when Product is applied to the nails it works like this. You know when you remove a Band-Aid off your skin if you’ve had it on for a few days, you’ll notice that your skin underneath the Band-Aid is much softer than the rest of your skin, in a few hours or a day your skin has turned back to normal. When we apply product to our nails it works the same way it softens the nails while it’s being covered, as soon as it’s exposed to the air in a couple of days they become hardened up again just like your skin did.
A little tip when you’re removing nails is leave a thin layer to protect that natural nail especially if you’re applying more product over top. This will protect your nails from feeling that flimsy weak feel. Great questions 💛Suzie

I swear Katie makes me think of actress Caroline Rhea, especially with the way she says "I don't know what that is."

I need advice on pinky support. I'm having a hard time getting pinky to place and support without it bending out of place. Any advice from anyone would be wonderful or if there's a video here. I'm just beginning and doing my own and practice hand. I'd like to eventually start it on others will need to figure out training as any schools in my location are requiring hours per week that conflict with my work schedule

I just gotta say, at 10:00 the video repeated the last minute or so segment. I had to rewind and make sure I actually had just watched the same thing and wasn't just having a stroke or something!😅
