Please stop saying that nonsense. Saga teams CAN work they just half way it everytime, we literally have saga teams in the game right now that, while powercrept currently, are very cohesive. Buu saga, Cell saga, Namek saga and Dragon Ball saga (lmao) failed scrumptiously and Saiyan saga lasted for a whooping 2 weeks before getting sent to the shadow realm, Any person with a decent brain can realize that they've failed way too many times vs their successes.
Besides, outside of specific saga campaigns, characters haven't gotten saga buffing Z abilties (Not enough anyway) (some of the saga teams don't even have competent Zenkai buffers)...Even within their respective sagas some characters like UL Kid Buu, LF Cell don't even buff the saga with their Z abilities.
Also, restricting character passives behind running full sagas is stupid as it locks their viability on the other tags their on, outside of saga campaigns characters usually don't buff Sagas with their Z abilities (UL Gohan for example)
Also some characters might not even work that well within their saga teams due to being either blast heavy or strike heavy, the saga teams don't have enough flexible Z abilities to warrant specific builds (most of the time it's a mesh-mash of characters like Saiyans with Buu characters or Androids with Son Fam etc...)
All of this to say that 9/10 they don't work and besides Uni reps is a different case since they buffed the whole tag throughout the year cuz the Arc has a lot of hype stuff. Do you honestly think they'll buff a specific saga throughout the entire year when each Arc has like 3-4 hype characters for them to sell?

My point was that just because they havent been doing it right does not outright mean it cant work period, and i was using saiyan and Uss as examples of how it obviously can work, just not very well or for long with the way theyve handled it
Dokkan very much shifted to category teams years ago and its been a (mostly) successful decision. And legends doesnt even have any kind of retrictions on running same name characters together.
As to the point of restricting passives to teams, YES PLEASE HOLY lol! Restricted to team passives has many benefits. 1.) Teams have more longevity of relevance and powercreep slows down as it becomes much harder to just keep running son family every banner and just throwing the new son family unit on the team replacing the oldest one (son family as an example) 2.) Its easier to balance the game when instead of 1-2 teams being meta and trying to design each new unit to be the new best jack of all trades + insert new broken mechanic toeven have a place in the meta when rather units would be designed to fill gaps on specific teams when they start falling behind. A raise up all approach rather then just constantly pushing the broken needle farther into the red with every new release.
Idk why people think team restrictions in a pvp centric game would be a bad idea but it would only benefit the player base in terms of allowing people to main a specific team long term if they wish to simply pull for the next buff if thats what they want and just making it way more approachable to F2P/light spenders to keep up with powercreep and it would allow the meta of the game to be much less volitile going from banner to banner
