For anyone that didn’t get to see Ricky play it’s hard to describe how good he actually was. The numbers are impressive but they just don’t capture how dominating he could be. He was my favorite non-Tiger ever, by far. The intensity was insane. He could ruin a pitchers day with his first at bat. I never got to see Ty Cobb play obviously but I have to imagine Ricky was the closest thing possible to experiencing that level of focus and drive in a player. He routinely turned a single or a walk into a triple. Once he “learned” how to hit home runs he somehow became even more amazing than he already was. I just can’t put into words the havoc he wreaked on the baseball diamond. The interviews and Rickyisms were so fun and even if he wasn’t on your team it was still really hard to not like the guy. He was the prototype lead off hitter and is probably the reason that a lot of teams now experiment with putting their best hitter in the lead off spot for that extra at bat. I can still remember some HOF players stating that Ricky Henderson was the best player they ever saw, guys that saw Ruth, Mays, and Bonds play, stating that Ricky was the best ever, while Ricky was still playing! So many rolled their eyes at the time but the way he set the tone from his first st bat until his last it was honestly like nothing else I’ve ever seen. Sorry for the rant but we lost something special when he retired and now that he has moved on. Rest in peace and thank you Ricky.
Thanks for putting some pressure on the front office, Scott. Your voice carries more weight than you might think. If the Tigers are too cheap to sign Bregman, I hope they at least trade for Ryan Mountcastle. Merry Christmas to everyone that reads this
Signing Bregman would be a horrible mistake, the Tigers have to address Baez first. I wouldn’t sign any free agents until that mess has been cleaned up.
Poor Scott, stuck here on a Monday in December breaking down minor league signings because the Tigers refuse to do anything of note. Thanks for the quality breakdowns.
I’m here for the content brother, keep up the good work. It’s not like you can force the tigers to make moves bud lol. I’ll keep checking in every time one drops
When it was announced that Malloy and Keith would be getting reps at first base, I figured they would be giving Torkelson one more chance. If he struggles again, theyll move one of them to first.
Merry Christmas Scott and to everyone out there. Scott Harris has done a decent job considering that his hands are just about completely tied. This team will not sign anyone meaningful this off season. Without Flajerty in the rotation, there is a very good chance this team will take a step or two back in 2025. Thank you Scottie for being there. Ray
I listened to your (and the Tigers) adding by subtraction theory. So since you are bothered by the lack of subtraction, what player would you consider subtracting?
I shortchanged our offensive development team in the middle part of the year, but understand their not wanting to bankrupt our young guys, and those coming up. We'll see how this all unfolds.
Buehler to Boston on a 1 yr deal for 21 million. Now I am really believing that Detroit is pretty much done spending if they cannot outbid that for Buehler
Scott, you should be canaonized for saint hood. It is a miracle that you continue to try to be optimistic. Chris I is creeping into Tom Monaghan's domain as the cheapest and most uninterested owner in all of baseball. I expect an effort for collusion very soon from Chris. He did vote no on the CBA if I'm not mistaken. God's speed Scott.
Congrats on the Tiges winning the 2025 central division championship- this is partially why Scott Harris isnt doing much. Guardians got rid of J.Naylor and Giminez- game over.
I know Tork struggled a great deal last year, but he is one year removed from 31 home runs, 95 RBI's, and is 25 years old with a possible upside. Quit acting like it was a horrible move to not move on 1st baseman who are 35 - 39 years old. Come on! The off season has six weeks to go. Give Scott Harris, who has really turned this organization around, the full amount of time to make moves. You can judge him fully on February 15.
Scott Harris collected some good will in the bank with the excellent season in 2024, so he bought some time- at least in his mind- to find out about Tork, Baez,Sweemey,Jung,Malloy, etc. In one more season we will know with greater certainty about the question marks. Then he will spend based on need.- thats my view of Harris inaction. Tork likely needs a tweak but the others I mentioned need a revolution. Lets see if they have visible changes in the spring or are they delusional and content with mediocrity. Also 3rd base may be filled by McGonickle so could be just a matter of time in one year. I know he played 2nd but if you can play 2nd you can play 3rd.(Lou Whitaker was intended for 3rd base in the minors) Downside of this delay plan is not getting the most of a Skubal season who goes byebye in 2 yrs.
Also, Lance Parrish was drafted as a 3rd baseman, but converted to catching in the minors. Brandon Inge was drafted as a catcher, but converted to 3rd base.
The Cobb signing is going to be a bust. He isn't going to make a difference. This a as good as the off season gets Scottie. This is the team that Illitch gives the City of Detroit. Merry Christmas to all except Chris Illitch. Ray
I think the .500 predictions are about right, maybe a bit optimistic. No Flaherty this year, and the rotation will be weaker. No upgrades where they are most needed - first and third base. It's starting to look like this is what the 2025 team will be: exactly like the 2024 team but with a weaker rotation. It's hard to get very enthusiastic about a team like this. This is a team that doesn't know how to turn the page, how to cut losses and move on. I'm sick of hearing about Akil Badoo's "tools." I don't care how good he looks in a uniform or how fast he is. He can't hit, and he's proved it over and over again. Time to move on, but no! The Tigers eagerly signed him to another contract after he made it thru waivers. What does it tell you when 29 other teams passed on the "opportunity" to pick up this diamond in the rough? Same thing with Torkelson. We just can't seem to get over the fact that we wasted a first round draft pick on this guy. Hey, he hit 31 homers (once). Ever hear the term "flash in the pan?" Take a look at how many first rounders never even made it to the majors or how many guys had one good year, never to have another. Torkelson never excelled in the minors, and he's been a disaster in the majors. To think we could have had Christian walker for the next 3 years instead of the pop-up king. The reason the Tigers will be lucky to reach .500 this year is that there are simply too many automatic outs in the lineup. Torkelson is one; whoever is playing shortstop will be another; the catcher is the third. It's tough to win many games when 33% of your lineup is an automatic out.
Hard to report on a team that has done nothing but said "screw you fans" since the death of their beloved owner many years ago. I feel sorry for you trying to make chicken soup out of chicken feathers.
RIP Rickey Henderson

The one and only place I go to for Tigers news . Thanks Scott ! I will always support your channel ……CAN WE SIGN SOME BATS ?????????????

If they don't get Roki Sasaki they should try to sign Walker Buehler
Ain’t happening
@@KYCruisinCouple Definitely ain't happening.
I'd like to see Josue Briceno play 1st base this year
2 years

I've been waiting for 40 years for another championship, is that long enough?

They'll get a reliever and a third baseman.

So disappointed so far.. gotta at least extend some guys if we aren’t spending on free agents.. our payroll should be middle of the pack at least.

Scott, Mr self-deprecating.
...I like Scott, but he does overdo that occasionally.
it doesn't bother me, but I do think Scott is too hard on himself.
I think the owner is cheap and thinks the tigers can win with what they have in house
All Scott Harris does is sign players no other team wants to minor league deals.
Nobody's coming to Detroit
Couldn't be more obvious.
More players are coming to Detroit!

I bet you were loving your “beloved owner” when we lost 119 games in 2003!
