I have travelled by this train in 1959, it was an amazing trip by mountain train, I was 17 years old! Yes you are right Sharmila Tagore was sitting in the train 7 Rajesh Khanna was in his jeep in the movie called 'Aradhana '

The best toy train for shimla is shiwalik express .it starts 5.30 am from kalka and only one stoppage is at barog. Barog rly station is worlds most beautiful station.
its called rail car....and other longer one is known as a toy train....fun to travel actually you can run along wirh the train it moves that slow. I am from Shimla if we go by road from kalka it takes 3 hours where in train takes 6 hours almost double time .

Very candid reaction-:) in India , so far I know , there are 4 narrow guage toy train lines...one is from coimbgoor to ooty , pathankot to Jogindernagar , kalka to shimla and darjeeling toy trains...all are fantastic..
You can see this train as it was in 1970s if you watch the song "Gaadi bula rahi hai" from the movie Dost starring Dharmendra, Hema Malinin and Shatrughan Sinha.
It is not height- It is is that this hilly route has 902 curves and no train can run fast with so many curves.

Darjeeling toy train is really grt and Darjeeling toy train is also recognised as a world heritage site..and i m from siliguri and siliguri is gateway of north east like Darjeeling , sikkim, doors..and Darjeeling toy trains starting point is from siliguri..u guy's is always welcome to india ..pls come to india someday...and for general knowledge..India has a total of five toy trains viz. Kalka-Shimla railway, Kangra Valley Railway, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Nilgiri Mountain Railway and Matheran Hill Railway

Are bhai train jo shimla jati hai wo janbujh kar sari slow hai taki log hills beauty ko enjoy kre.. log tunnels vgra enjoy karne ke liye hi jate hai shimla se.. otherwise jaldi jana hai to by road jao luxury buses jati hai jaldi pahuch jaoge 3-4 hours me kalka se.. 👍
