Ballmer is the greatest comedian of all time. He cooked that joke about the iPhone slowly and had so much skin in the game to unravel the punchline a decade later.

This is a tough interview. Good on S.B. for being clear-eyed and able to succinctly acknowledge these missteps. And, $20B for all of Facebook would have been a good deal, ultimately. Today it is literally worth $436B.

Yeah that’s why mark said no and had zero interest. Balmar wanted to and tried but mark refused. Did even matter if it was a 100 billion proposal, mark would refuse.

The other failure for Microsoft was turning down Valve. Valve was created byt ex-microsoft employees who could not get Microsoft to realise PC gaming was big

You did, they sucked. really. Windows CE was a joke, and the phones had REAL hardware issues. I went to buy one and I knew the manger of the store and she talked me out of it.

Nadella is one of the greatest CEOs ever just because he kinda fixed Microsoft’s aging dinosaur reputation and Ballmer’s mistakes

What’s ironic about phones is, I’ve used iOS, Android, and Windows phone 7. If Microsoft was able to get WP7 out earlier, it really could have been something. It lacked apps, but important apps like TD bank and Capital One. Apps aside, I absolutely loved the Windows Phone UI/UX

Some people don't know that BIll himself ready to give up some of his shares in MS to keep Steve in the company, but Allen kept disagreeing with this from the beginning, but Bill kept Ballmer anyway by giving him 8% of the company. Also, Allen didn't like the idea of Bill's hiring a dorm guy just because Bill thinks he is special. But when Bill diluted Allens shares when Allen was out for his cancer treatment and Bill arguing it was Bill to decide what to do, Steve Ballmer is the only guy who disagrees with that and sided with Paul, Steve personally went to Allen's house and apologized on behalf of the company and Bill. Bill never apologized to Paul. Steve always wanted Allen to remain in MS but after the betrayals, Paul felt he left. So, please don't criticize Steve only for failures, he is a business genius and knows how to work as a team. (Source:60 minutes interview of Allen, Google).

He literally tried buying all of Facebook in 2009 and was criticized heavily by ms shareholders and media for having ms invest 300 million into Facebook.
So obviously he had vision and foresight.
