Im a moderately tech savvy guy but this saved my butt trying to update a C9 when I moved to Japan and it turned into a brick. If you find yourself in Okinawa I owe you a drink, much much thanks for this.
You just saved me from waiting 1 month as that's about the time frame for the warranty guys to either repair or replace my product. And i did it by myself watching your video in about 20 minutes. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the timeout to create and post this video. This really saved my day. The steps demonstrated in the video worked for me for TPLink Archer C8 US v1
You are amazing dude. I've been looking for a method to go back to stock firmware on my Archer C5 for such a long time. I happened to stumble across your video, and boom! Worked perfectly. Thank you so much! :D
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You saved my C8 from trash can. I promess not to play with ddwrt anymore, flashing go wrong and my C8 was dead. Now is up and running with tplink OS.
Great to hear! Another one saved. Thank you so much again for commenting, watching and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. Subscribe, Click The Bell and stay tuned! All the best.👍😀
This worked brilliantly. Mine bricked trying to update the firmware. Instead of the power light flashing, I had the right 4 lights brightly lit and the left 4 lights very dimly lit. I had to write the firmware twice for it to work. TYVM OP.
I was ready to trash my TP-Link Archer C8. Then I found your other video requiring the disassembly, which I am capable of doing, so I watched the whole thing and then noticed this video. Hooray! Worked like a charm! Just minor differences such as the embedded filename having "c8" instead of "c9" in the filename string, and the original TP-Link ARcher C8 file being different. My LEDs are not functional, all off, except for the last one on the right (activity). I do not know how long they have been like that because the router back was always facing me since it was first installed, so I was sure it was over. I bricked mine trying to load the first of the two files from the current archive at the DD-WRT repository. That won't happen again! This router will work fine as a front end for an ASUS RT-68 with OpenVPN, an it is has been very reliable. until I tried to go to DD-WRT. Of note: I failed the flash a couple of times because I had turned the Windows 10 firewalls off but they somehow managed to turn back on during the first rescue flash attempt. Worked immediately after I checked and fixed that issue. THANKS, Richard!
I know it worked for your C8 but I can't in good conscience put C8 in the title without confirming it myself. I will lead people who have a C8 to your comments as an example of one person who verified that it does indeed work on a C8. I may purchase one and do a video on it as well. Thanks
I understand. Works just as you instruct with just the C8 firmware differences. Very close to the same machine, except WIFI speed. I think it uses the same processor. Nothing I could find out there about the C8. This fix will definitely will fix a C8 bricked with DD-WRT.
Hey Richard, fantastic guide you saved my Archer c25 using the exact method you did in this video. I followed a few other guides online and none worked for me even though they were doing very similar stuff as you! except the renaming of the firmware file the router was looking for! I never knew that. And i never comment or log in to like videos, but i did for you and im gonna sub too (thumbs up)
For anyone who tries this and isn't getting the router to download (but does see it boot up with 192.168.0.86 IP... make sure you turn off Windows Firewall. I missed that the first time and it was preventing the router from connecting to the TFPTd server.
You're most welcome. I'm glad to know I could help you. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Also saved my Archer C8 v1 from a bad flash from DD-WRT. It reverted back to factory and I could install a stable build. (2019-07-31). Thank you sooo much!!!
Fixed mine!! Absolutely fantastic instructional video on how to do this!! You're the man! I can't thank you enough! I got myself in this shape by upgrading my firmware over a wifi connection. oops. Oh well, this has been a great learning experience. :D
You are most welcome. These are the best routers in their price range. I love mine. I am happy you got it working again. Thanks for watching, the great feedback and the kind words. All the best.
thanks, 2 years vid, still works on Tp-link archer C9 v4. The differences is i dont rename the bin to recovery, when i started tftpd it suddenly flash the firmware itself, my problem seems error system due to power outage, only power led on.
Thank You so much !!! It works for me in Tplink WA7210N CPE Outdoor Router i brick it with openwrt Thanks to your solution its unbrick to Original Tplink Dashboard.
Great tutorial. I used concepts but had a few variants like not realizing / remembering that the LEDs on C9 are exceptionally dim (have to be in dark room to see them unless they are flashing error condition). For me, my WPS and USB LEDs were periodically flashing, so I needed to hold WPS/Reset button until USB stopped flashing and at that point the filename showed in TFTP window.Since LEDs were so dim, I'm not certain if the C9 rebooted or not after FW load.I think the default IP changed from 198.168.0.1 to 198.168.1.1 after FW load.
Richard Lloyd, you are my life saver, ehhehehe. Many thanks here, from Portugal, it works fine for my Archer C9. Though that I have to by another one, or use the serial, because I saw the other video after this one, the video using the serial to unbrick. Again, many thanks for shearing the knowledge that you have. Best regards.
Hi Richard, amazing video! However I followed your steps and I cannot get any response from Tftp64 when I try to put my TP Link Archer C3150 in rescue mode... Any ideas?
I found this stuff up by first wrecking my router (by mistake) and then having to recover from the mistake. Of course I did a bunch of research to find the solutions. I love problems and problem solving. Thanks.
I used the same process successfully on my wr841n router, but after my Archer (US) C9v1 received the TP-Link (US) C9v1 firmware the power light only flashes rapidly. (firewall is off) I'm not sure, but I may not have waited long enough for the C9 to complete the update process. If you're attempting this be sure to give the router plenty of time to completely finish before you do anything with it.
Hi Lloyd, thank you a lot for the explanation. I'm tryng to recover an Archer C9 V1 with a DDWRT firmware, because I can´t update by browser, I don't no why, so I found your video. I did everything, and everything works fine for me, the TFTP log showed the sucess transfer message ": sent 25225 blks, 12914688 bytes in 19 s. 0 blk resent [21/05 14:32:36.872]" but after router reboot the same DDWRT firmware is on the router! did you have the same problem?
Here is the video on how to do it with the serial interface: ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html I used this rescue recently on one of my two Archer C9's Thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Hello Mr Richard. I trust you're doing great. i need help in understanding my bricked TP-MR3040 v1. in the UART mode it outputs this loop: Great video Agra TV. got a question. what do you do when the router is stuck at this loop " U-Boot 1.1.4 (Nov 26 2012 - 17:29:50) AP121 (ar9330) U-boot DRAM: 32 MB led turning on for 1s... ▒ U-Boot 1.1.4 (Nov 26 2012 - 17:29:50) AP121 (ar9330) U-boot DRAM: 32 MB led turning on for 1s... " i can't get to the point of typing tpl. Please what's the way from here.
Firstly really good video very detailed. I followed all the steps, i have a V1 as well but even though the firmware got uploaded to the router, the same boot loop occurred. I tried every firmware from the oldest to the newest still nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It is looking like i need to give this unit to the service center.
Is there anything I can do if this and the serial USB cable fix don't work? The router connects and downloads the firmware but stays in a bootloop. I've tried all of the TP-Link firmwares for it and the DD-WRT factory to DD firmwares but none of them have recovered the bootloop. The serial connection doesn't stop the router to allow commands to be entered. It just keeps scrolling with incomprehensible data.
All I have on recovering this router is here: ua-cam.com/play/PLnxXRLSlmSVOlfKcSSQm8VeXKAN3-_urP.html You need to type tpl to stop the loop as I show in the video. OpenWRT shows several solutions for this router here which may help you: openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer-c9 Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
I don't know why but I'm still in a boot loop. I recovered from a bricked stat with Putty and witches helped. I was then able to flash via Ethernet. I flash all 3 Canadian firmware's but I'm still in a boot loop. Could that be from flashing from the 12.bin and mtd3.bin from your other Archer C9 Video? maybe that wasn't the right firmware for the Canadian C9? I'm going to call it a day for now but thank you for any assistance and for your videos!
If the standard recovery procedure is not working on your router the only alternative I know is to connect a serial USB breakout connector and recover it that way. Here is a video on how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html Thanks
Hello, do you have any idea what to do if only the WPS (two arrows) LED is on? I can flash firmware using TFTP but nothing the problem persists. WPS LED on, not network. No router webpage. I have an archer C9 v4.
Hi. my archer c9 v2, keeps blinks only WPS and USB lights. In the pc, identify as cable connect and disconnect constantly. keeps turning on and off. Some solution?
Take a look at the serial recovery as an alternative method here: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html it has saved me a few times now. Thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Hey Richard, I noticed you have many recovery videos posted. I have tried several of them all with the same result a bootloop. I was trying to install ddwrt on my archer c7 this morning carelessly and thus bricked the router. I tried to follow the same process that I followed a few days earlier on another router by skipping a little research. Anyhow it seems as though the router resets before the firmware copies 100%. I have tried different firmware versions with the same result it is looking for ArcherC7v2_tp_recovery.bin. Any suggestions?
I need some help as the reflash does not work for me. Great video! I managed to get to the point where I find out the name of the file the router wants to download which surprisingly is quite different than the router itself. Meaning, I have Archer C1900(US) v1 version (written on the back of the router), yet the router expects to download ArcherC9v2_tp_recovery.bin file I tried C1900v1, C1900v2, ArcherC9v2 Canada, ArcherC9v1US firmware downloaded from TP-Link US website, no luck, router won't reboot not even after 10 minutes from the moment it finished downloading the file. Any suggestions?
I did the whole process on my Archer C8 v2 always recording successfully 100% but it keeps turning off and on the LAN, WPS and USB notification lights. I have already recorded the original firmware and also the DD-WRT several times but the same problem remains. Any suggestion ? Thanks!
Hello Richard, nice video , i am trying to fix my archer c8 after i used the wrong firmware - the router does not react while i keep pressing the WPS button - FYI when i turn on the router i have only 2 leds on ,the lan and the usb -any ideas? - thanks in advance
I had installed DD-WRT on my Archer C9v1 router, and have followed the instructions given in the video. Everything goes well - the recovery file downloads to the router, the lights all go out and then it reboots. Unfortunately it doesn't respond to 192.168.0.1. When I go to 192.168.1.1 I am back to DD-WRT. Any idea why it hasn't recovered the OEM firmware?
I have a bricked Archer C8 v1 US version after attempting a firmware update. I followed the procedure from the video. Using 192.168.0.66 as the IP address, I am able to connect using TFTPD and the bin file loads fine, but then it doesn't reboot. It remains stuck with the "reboot" (2 semi-circular arrows) light on. Turning it off and on again returns it to the prior state... dead with 2 lights on: the “terminal” light (looks like a computer screen) and the “reboot” light on the far right. The “reboot” light is the brightest. The lights other than these 2 are also on but very dimly lit. Any suggestions?
Check and make sure the firewall (Windows or other) is Off and try again. If that does not work try the procedure using a different computer. Lastly if that fails try the serial repair I show here: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html thanks.

If this did not work for you consider the serial USB repair here: goo.gl/oxEGia Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
I cannot get this to work, i just have 1 orange (amber)light. the router doesnt appear to be in a boot loop. Any other ideas...thanks in advanced - without serial method?
If non serial method did not work for you the alternative I know of is this: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html It's worth it to save your router. Thanks.
Hi Richard, I have a archer C5. The method does not seem to be working for me. I do not see any activity in the log section for the tftp server. Also my power LED is the only one that flashes when I start the router. I see the wps led light up when I press the reset and power button, but I don't think its communicating with the desktop. Does this mean its bricked permanently?
It may mean that you are not correctly connected from the USB to the serial port. Check your connections and solder points. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.
Help me! I did the same procedure as the video, the software did the transfer, but after waiting some time, nothing happens, all the lights are off and when I turn it off and on again, only 3 lights (the last ones) are on. What could it be?
Awesome tutorial tks! I have a problem, I can't get the router in the recovery mode anylonger. I remember the day that I had the problem, after pressing the wps/reset key I was able to see the "power" light blinking... but now even folllowing exactly what you do in the exacly time I can't get the recovery mode, after pressing it shows me the "wps light on" for a few second than all the lights goes on and off. Do you know how to force to enter in the recovery mode?
If the standard recovery procedure is not working on your router the only alternative I know is to connect a serial USB breakout connector and recover it that way. Here is a video on how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html Thanks
Hello, I am from Venezuela, when I do the steps everything is going well and after about 15 seconds it disconnects and there is UNBRICK again what should I do?
hi, i have tried to do it, but it doesn't work for me.. i tried changing the 0 to 1 to but that doesn't seem to work at all. When doing it like you do in the vid. I see the connection and data transfer but afterwords the tplink c9 v2 will stil go back in to the bootloop... i searched for the right files btw and also the right region (Netherlands in my case) Got any ideas on what to do?? I have been in the tp page before and could change stuf but back then it didn't seem to work with the internet connection of the house we lived in. At that time my parents and i moved in to a new house. a few days before that time it stil worked without any problems but in the new house there was someting wrong with the internet. It was just a couple blox away from the house before that and we stil had the same provider. But somewhere down the line some ip adresses screwed up the settings hand it was rebooting if i remember correctly but ever sinds it didn't come out of it if i remeber correctly and now a few months later i moved to my student dorm trying to use it for my new house but it stil doesn't seem to work....
Doesnt work for me . Mine is in a loop, every 30 seconds he reboots himself, loosing all connections and not working at all. When i start the recovery process it works until that reboot. So he completely downloads the data via ftp, but then after a short time the 30 seconds are reached and he reboots again, not installing the new firmware i guess. All LED´s go on for a second, and then he just looks like booting up again. Any ideas?
This is option #2 that is available UNBRICK/Recovery TP-Link Archer C9 Router (Version 1) Step-By-Step Guide Using Serial/USB Connection ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html thanks.
I've followed the instructions and gotten the router to accept (and transfer) the older firmware version, but when I bring up the management page it isn't showing the right version. It is firmware version 3.17.1 build 20180125 Rel.56387n, which doesn't match yours or the bin file. Anyone know what's happening?
I have version 2 archer c9 some how ao manage to install v1 firmware and know does not change I did this steps all right but when I turned on is on archer v1 still
when the tftp32 take the file to the router its get to 100 precent then is venish and the router still make a boot loop ita dosent fixing its like the router download the file but not install it why is that?
Richard Lloyd but its something wired becuse before two days i get brick after try flash dd wrt and its work this guide but today i get brick of try again dd wrt but now its dosent install.. how is that? its the same brick but now its doesnt work
Only thing that matters is setting the ip address to 192.168.0.66 like I show at the 16:00 mark in the video. Then the TFTP should work normally. Do you have another computer you can try it on? Thanks.
I tried it but unfortunately didn't work as intended. Anyway, I found modified image to restore to stock here www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1004133 And it works. Thank you for your help.
Hello , can you please help me in unbricking TP LINK C7 V4 ? I have tried your method but it's not working . Would be grateful if someone can help . Thanks
I followed the instructions to the letter. Everything went fine, BUT I CANNOT get the IP Address splash screen on my browser(s) to enter the router...ANY ideas would be appreciated.
I can't confirm that as I don't own a C8. This same procedure works on various TP-Link routers, I know it works on the WR841N so it may work on your C8. If it does not work it really can't do any more damage than has already been done. It can either work and fix your router or not work and your router will be no worse off than it currently is. Give it a try you truly do not have anything to lose and everything to gain. Thanks.
I don't have a version 2 to test. Give it a try and see if it works. If your router is not working you don't have much to lose. Please get back to us with your result if you try it. Thanks.
This is option #2 that is available UNBRICK/Recovery TP-Link Archer C9 Router (Version 1) Step-By-Step Guide Using Serial/USB Connection ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html thanks.
Richard, how did you access the router's web page (192.168.0.1), though it was showing the status as 'Unidentified Network' in your Ethernet adapter (which had no default gateway configured) ? One more question, should I not select '192.168.0.66' option in the drop-down menu in TFTPD32 software, like you did in a previous video of yours. (Link for video : ua-cam.com/video/0k1sxwX5pMk/v-deo.html) I know I am questioning too much but the about previous tutorial of yours did not work out for me, though I executed *exactly the same procedure. *I named the recovery firmware the required one by following this video (Link : ua-cam.com/video/plaxiiSKlJI/v-deo.html) of yours. Please, Sir, could you please guide me out as I landed on to a 'unrecoverable' bricked router at the end of the day ? (Device used : Archer C20i; Version : 1)
+Basupriya Paul The configuration as I show in this video will work just fine. As long as your LAN config is right and the TFTP32 program is pointed to the correct directory where you put the correctly named firmware it will work. Thanks.
@Ehsanul Kibir Can't comment on your post If the standard recovery procedure is not working on your router the only alternative I know is to connect a serial USB breakout connector and recover it that way. Here is a video on how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html Thanks
Should I use the oldest firmware available on the TP-Link website's download section or use that firmware on to which I upgraded to OpenWrt (Device used : Archer C20i) (Firmware I'm talking about on which I upgraded sysupgrade.bin : Archer C20i _V1_150512 or Archer C20i_V1_140709; both can be used for OpenWrt upgrade but which one should I use for recovery ? Could you please help me out ? Link for OpenWrt firmware : wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer-c20i Link for Official firmwares (TP-Link, India) : www.tp-link.in/download/Archer-C20i.html#Firmware
+Basupriya Paul I do not use OpenWrt so I can't comment on that. I always use the oldest firmware available then upgrade from there once I get it running. All the best.
+Basupriya Paul It's hard to tell but really you don't have a lot to lose by trying at this point. BTW I am working on a video on how to recover this router using a serial connection if this method does not work. Coming soon. Thanks.
+Richard Lloyd Okay. Thank you for the quick response. I hope that the serial connection recovery tutorial would help me out in case this method does work out. So, when is this 'serial connection' recovery video arriving at deck ?
+Richard Lloyd *My router is not bricked. It is working alright. But at times for troubleshooting purposes, I need to switch back to the official firmware. In this case, should I directly upgrade the router via the web interface using either 140709 (recommended by you) or 150512 ? How does the same work out for DD-Wrt, if not bricked ?
Im a moderately tech savvy guy but this saved my butt trying to update a C9 when I moved to Japan and it turned into a brick. If you find yourself in Okinawa I owe you a drink, much much thanks for this.

Thanks a lot. Using your guides, I installed DD-WRT and reverted to stock successfully. Cheers
Great! You are welcome. Thanks for watching and the feedback. All the best.
Thanks! Worked like a champ for me to restore from a working copy of dd-wrt. Easiest method out there, and much appreciated!

Maybe add the Archer C8 in paren to your title?
I know it worked for your C8 but I can't in good conscience put C8 in the title without confirming it myself. I will lead people who have a C8 to your comments as an example of one person who verified that it does indeed work on a C8. I may purchase one and do a video on it as well. Thanks

Thank you for this method and great explanation. Worked like a charm for my Archer C8 v1 in order to remove DD-WRT.
Thank you so much! Just recovered a bad flashed C9 V1. Super simple and worked just like you said in the video.
You are most welcome. Glad I could help. Thank you for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Wow. I was planning on buying a new router tomorrow. Thanks for saving me 60 bucks. Archer C59 v2 btw
Hey Richard, fantastic guide you saved my Archer c25 using the exact method you did in this video. I followed a few other guides online and none worked for me even though they were doing very similar stuff as you! except the renaming of the firmware file the router was looking for! I never knew that.
And i never comment or log in to like videos, but i did for you and im gonna sub too (thumbs up)

confirmed to have also worked on a US Archer C8v1. Thanks for sharing!
You are most welcome. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. All the best.
It worked and I could save my Archer C8. Thank you soooo much!!!
Also saved my Archer C8 v1 from a bad flash from DD-WRT. It reverted back to factory and I could install a stable build. (2019-07-31). Thank you sooo much!!!

You are most welcome. Thank you for watching, commenting and the kind words. All the best.
Worked like a charm. Saved my router or having to open it up.
Beautiful. Thank your very much for commenting and watching. All the best.
Success with same procedure on a C8 broken after failed firmware update! Great Tut! Thanks!
Great to hear. Thanks for the feedback and watching.
thanks, 2 years vid, still works on Tp-link archer C9 v4. The differences is i dont rename the bin to recovery, when i started tftpd it suddenly flash the firmware itself, my problem seems error system due to power outage, only power led on.
Thank You so much !!!
It works for me in Tplink WA7210N CPE Outdoor Router
i brick it with openwrt Thanks to your solution its unbrick to Original Tplink Dashboard.

I have never seen in detail Tuto Like this
ThankYou Man
+Zerkhi Sayyed Thank you very much and you are welcome. I am glad you liked it.
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching and the very kind comments. Glad I could help.
I have an Archer A7 and this worked for me, Thanks a Lot

Hi Richard, amazing video! However I followed your steps and I cannot get any response from Tftp64 when I try to put my TP Link Archer C3150 in rescue mode... Any ideas?
thanks man it worked to me while to figure it out but turned out to using wrong ip
Great! Thanks.
thanks u so much u saved me today , I fixed my tp link archer c60 v2 with your steps
same exact steps for c60?
Very well explained, thanks Richard!

You saved my bacon on this one, Richard! Thanks. How did you find all of this stuff out?
I found this stuff up by first wrecking my router (by mistake) and then having to recover from the mistake. Of course I did a bunch of research to find the solutions. I love problems and problem solving. Thanks.
You are the man! It worked like a charm. Thank you. A very Well made tutorial how to do it.
You are most welcome. I am very pleased to hear you were able to rescue it. Thanks for the great feed back and watching.
Thank you so much for your video. You've helped me many times.

I ordered the USB serial adapter and tried that method for recovery and it loaded.
Great! You are most welcome. Thank you for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.

Hi there!! I can do it using a serial conection! thank you so much!!

i can't get to the point of typing tpl. Please what's the way from here.
Did you try the recovery video I have for it that shows how to do it without the UART? ua-cam.com/video/AU8RyW82Z2M/v-deo.html Thanks.
I figured it out. It was a cable issue. tried a different cable and it worked
Here is another solution for an Archer C9 V1 ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html thanks.
If the standard recovery procedure is not working on your router the only alternative I know is to connect a serial USB breakout connector
and recover it that way.
Try the serial recovery method on this video: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html Thanks.
Hi. my archer c9 v2, keeps blinks only WPS and USB lights.
Hey Richard,
I noticed you have many recovery videos posted.
Are you using the stock firmware for your router? Thanks.
yes
Just to clarify, after going through what appeared to be a successful recovery process the Archer C9v1 is still running DD-WRT.
Are you trying to revert the router to the stock firmware? If so here is a video on how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html Thanks.
Thank you it worked for me ❤️❤️
I need some help as the reflash does not work for me.
Great video!
I managed to get to the point where I find out the name of the file the router wants to download which surprisingly is quite different than the router itself.
Meaning, I have Archer C1900(US) v1 version (written on the back of the router), yet the router expects to download ArcherC9v2_tp_recovery.bin file
I tried C1900v1, C1900v2, ArcherC9v2 Canada, ArcherC9v1US firmware downloaded from TP-Link US website, no luck, router won't reboot not even after 10 minutes from the moment it finished downloading the file.
Any suggestions?
You could try the serial recovery here: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html Thanks.
Hello, I have only the "refresh" LED lighting on my router. Cant get into recovery Mode. What can I do?!?!
Try the serial recovery method on this video: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html Thanks.
You may need to use the serial method. Check my router videos on how to do that. Thanks.
@@richardlloydusa thanks I will watch it and try it
I had installed DD-WRT on my Archer C9v1 router, and have followed the instructions given in the video.
Are you trying to revert the router to the stock firmware? If so here is a video on how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html Thanks.

File uploaded successfully using TFT, but nothing happening after that. Only WPS light is ON, all other lights are off.
Model- Archer C9 V2
If this did not work for you consider the serial USB repair here: goo.gl/oxEGia Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
I cannot get this to work, i just have 1 orange (amber)light. the router doesnt appear to be in a boot loop. Any other ideas...thanks in advanced - without serial method?
If non serial method did not work for you the alternative I know of is this: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html It's worth it to save your router. Thanks.
I tried all setting as per your video. Once all completed still the router in same DD wrt firmware.
I am using version 4
Please help me.
Thanks man you saved me 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Richard, I have a archer C5.
@@richardlloydusa Hi Richard What do you mean? Why would you need to check USB to serial port
Help me!
I did the same procedure as the video, the software did the transfer, but after waiting some time, nothing happens, all the lights are off and when I turn it off and on again, only 3 lights (the last ones) are on. What could it be?
Try the serial recovery here: ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html Thanks.
Richard Lloyd some minutes later... work, I just did this. Thanks a lot!
Is it possible to do this with the Mac OS? The Windows executable will not run on my platform.
Yes, Richard, I think I am gonna try it later. Thank you so much for your time.
You are welcome. All the best. Thanks for watching.
some time I have to desolder router chip to unbrick it
faulty router only do light sources star hours?(tplink archer c2!)
If this method did not work for you try this: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html Thanks
I see the connection and data transfer but afterwords the tplink c9 v2 will stil go back in to the bootloop... i searched for the right files btw and also the right region (Netherlands in my case)
Got any ideas on what to do??
Any ideas?
Reverted back to the stock firmware, and it appears my C9v1 is stuck in some sort of bootloop. Any idea why?
Basically all lights come on for a few seconds and then all lights go off for a few seconds, then all lights come on again for a few seconds, etc.
If this method did not work for you try this: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html Thanks
Thank you!
awesome thank you!!! is it possible to use this method to revert from DD-WRT to TP-LINK firmware??? thank you
I made a video on the only method I know of to revert it to stock here ua-cam.com/video/jHONx_yrrKs/v-deo.html Thanks.
+Richard Lloyd thank yoi very very much :-)

I can't enter on recovery mode on my Archer "D"9, tried 0.66 , 1,66 I want to revert a firm, please, give me some ideas. Thanks!
This is option #2 that is available UNBRICK/Recovery TP-Link Archer C9 Router (Version 1) Step-By-Step Guide Using Serial/USB Connection
ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html thanks.
I have version 2 archer c9 some how ao manage to install v1 firmware and know does not change I did this steps all right but when I turned on is on archer v1 still
Thank you, thank you.
when the tftp32 take the file to the router its get to 100 precent then is venish and the router still make a boot loop ita dosent fixing its like the router download the file but not install it why is that?
Try this repair: ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html&list=PLnxXRLSlmSVNiENiN9wTejP6dtIqqmTya the non serial method does not always work. Thanks.
Richard Lloyd but its something wired becuse before two days i get brick after try flash dd wrt and its work this guide but today i get brick of try again dd wrt but now its dosent install.. how is that? its the same brick but now its doesnt work
My router doesn't go into recovery mode with this method. Any help is greatly appreciated.
What makes you say that it is not going into the recovery mode? Make sure you are holding the reset button for the period of time I show. Thanks.
Yes. I am trying exactly as you mentioned in the video. And what port should I run on TFTP server? I see that you are using 127.0.0.1 as IP.
Thanks.
When I hold the reset button for 5 seconds, router hard resets. Any idea why would that happen or how to prevent that? Thanks.
Only thing that matters is setting the ip address to 192.168.0.66 like I show at the 16:00 mark in the video. Then the TFTP should work normally. Do you have another computer you can try it on? Thanks.
I tried it but unfortunately didn't work as intended.
Anyway, I found modified image to restore to stock here www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1004133
And it works. Thank you for your help.
but this procedure is applicable to an archer c9 with ddwrt firmware?
It will work either way. At least it did for me. Thanks.
Great, it worked!!! thanks

Did the procedure work as shown on the video? Try this on a different computer and see what happens.
Thanks 🙏
will this work for Archer C8 mine bricked doing the manufacture Firmware update.
Thanks.
Does this work on c9 v2? Or has anyone tried?
I don't have a version 2 to test. Give it a try and see if it works. If your router is not working you don't have much to lose. Please get back to us with your result if you try it. Thanks.
After I changed my tcp/IPv4 to 192.168.0.66 it still goes to identified network to network cable unplugged.
Have you completed the entire procedure in the video exactly? Thanks.
yes, exactly the way you had it set up

Router (Version 1) Step-By-Step Guide Using Serial/USB Connection
ua-cam.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/v-deo.html thanks.
(Link for video : ua-cam.com/video/0k1sxwX5pMk/v-deo.html)
I know I am questioning too much but the about previous tutorial of yours did not work out for me, though I executed *exactly the same procedure.
Thanks.
can anyone help me?
Not sure how? Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
@@richardlloydusa I did make another comment bellow

Should I use the oldest firmware available on the TP-Link website's download section or use that firmware on to which I upgraded to OpenWrt (Device used : Archer C20i) (Firmware I'm talking about on which I upgraded sysupgrade.bin : Archer C20i _V1_150512 or Archer C20i_V1_140709; both can be used for OpenWrt upgrade but which one should I use for recovery ? +Basupriya Paul I do not use OpenWrt so I can't comment on that. I always use the oldest firmware available then upgrade from there once I get it running. All the best.
+Richard Lloyd Since DD-Wrt is based upon Open-Wrt, this tutorial of yours should also work for Open-Wrt, right ?
