I wonder why the iPhones were more affordable than the iPod touches...
the ipods were made out of higher quality material and the iPhone 3G broke too easily to the point iPods had to cost more than the iPhones due to the stainless steel back on the iPods. iPod touches didn't get cheaper until the 3rd gens but the 8 GB was actually a 2nd gen and that's why those MC086LL iPod touch 2nd gens are more common, the peasants didn't want the iPhones due to it being an actual phone and had nothing extra to pay off the bills. I even have 2 MC086LL iPods, one is literally days away from being dead, the other is still going strong 10 years later. Also, would you try to make a tutorial on downgrading MC iPod touch 2nd gens to iOS 3.1.3? I could make a tutorial but I suck at making videos so I cannot make a tutorial.
Here is how to downgrade an MC iPod touch 2g to iOS 3.1.3
Grab an iOS 3.1.3 ipsw for iPod touch 2nd gen, get sn0wbreeze, open sn0wbreeze, select the ipsw, select MC, select simple, wait for it to finish building the custom ipsw, put the iPod into dfu mode and then go let sn0wbreeze but it into pwned dfu mode and then open iTunes, hold shift while clicking on "Restore", select the custom ipsw made by sn0wbreeze (should be on the desktop), and then wait for the iPod to be done restoring to iOS 3.1.3.
I'm not exactly sure how this works since I haven't done this in 4 years since I already have the ipsw made so I just have to put the iPod into pwned dfu mode and restore with iTunes, also Windows 7 or Windows XP is required to get this to actually work, I don't think it works with Windows 10 but still try. Don't use a virtual machine since they are unreliable with USB but still try anyways, use an actual computer running windows 7 or XP if Windows 10 and a windows 7 or XP virtual machine both don't work.
Shawn Murphy actually the iPhone 3G was $199 and $299 WITH contract. Without the contract it was $599-$699 which if you think about it in a modern viewpoint .heres a modern example: IF Apple sold the iPhone 11 Pro with contract it would be way less like $599 but without contract it’s $999. ipods were still more affordable than the iphones it’s just with contract the price was cheaper.

Above that the contract conditions were not that nice too. Next to the monthly payments you had annoying limitations on messages for example, and if you sent more than those like 200 messages you had to pay another 15 bucks. So I would agree with Metra force. But it seems like you’re really having a talent to explain things so maybe you should give that tutorial idea a try :)

iOS 4.0-4.2.1: PLASTIC PIECE OF SHIT
iOS 3.1.3 and Earlier: Good
iOS 4.0 was even slower on the iPhone 3g! 🤣 what a joke! You should downgrade the 4.2.1 to iOS 4.0 just to see that slower speed and surprisingly the iPhone 3G can downgrade from 4.2-3.1. I had two iPhone 3G one on iOS 4.0 and one on iOS 4.2.1 and the 4.0 one was even slower than the 4.2.1 but I was able to downgrade both to 3.1 with your tutorial which was much smoother and more stable. Damn Apple thought the same internal specs would work on iOS 4 like then why did the iPhone 2G wasn’t supported but the iPhone 3g was? what was apples line of thought back then? 🤣
I think they wanted to give the iPhone 3G users more than 2 years of firmware support. My "good condition"iPhone 3G (the left one in the video) runs iOS 3.1.3 and that’s definitely way more enjoyable than a 3G running iOS 4. It’s nice that you found a way to downgrade them, my downgrade somehow happened accidentally while I tried to fix a boot loop back then :D
iBungler - Tech Videos same here!!! I had that boot loop problem on one of my 3g and I randomly clicked the ipsw for iOS 4.0 and when I saw that different iTunes logo I had to wonder what I did l. Once it was out of recovery mode I realized it was downgraded to iOS 4.0! Then i wondered how far can I downgrade and after using your method it turned out I can go as far as 3.1 so I did the downgrade on both my 3g and loved how much more smoother it was! :O
@@metraforce441 you can go as far back as 3.0 (assuming your 3G supports 3.0, they sold them to the announcement of iOS 4 and the iPhone 4). 2.2.1 and earlier can take more tries
