I agree you never know from one year to the next if something will do well or not. Last year my tomatoes struggled, and my cabbage did well. This year it's just the opposite. My cabbage has been eaten alive and my tomatoes are doing well.

I'm in zone 8a and I have a lot of squash bug problems each year. My best defense is to keep a sprayer with soapy water to carry with me each time I go to the garden and spray any squash bugs I see. They breathe thru their skin so the soap closes the skin pores and they die within minutes. I have used this for years and it works great. You do have to spray the soapy water directly on the bugs. I also look for eggs but getting the bugs early and often doesn't give them time to produce eggs. Maybe this is something you can try. Also, I am still trying to figure out the best way to deal with squash vine borers. I'll be experimenting with a couple of ideas next year and hope they work. I'll let you know. I enjoy your channel, take care.

I'm in zone 5b. We have only started last week to get our tomatoes. I am also waiting to be able to can some tomatoes once they come in more. I have fought blight this year again. That is three years in a row. I am hoping to get enough tomatoes for what I want to can. I am really not sure if I will have enough but time will tell. I still have 16 jars of salsa from last year so at least that is one that I don't have to do. Looks like you got hit with squash vine borer. I also had those hit my zucchini, buttercup and spaghetti squash plants. I did manage to save a few squashes but they got most of them. I did read that they don't usually go after butternut squash. I hope this is true. So fare they haven't touched mine. Thank you for sharing with us. I always look forward to your videos.
