A B van owner a Winnebago Solis PX similar to the Travato. So the answer on cooking is a clear shower cap from the dollar store. Place over the fire alarm while cooking remove when done. But how we all figure that out is setting off the alarm while making dinner :-)
Also Marylander here. I camp in the region all the time. I thought I knew all the area state parks. I have never seen this one. Thank you for the video. A waterfront park less than 2 hours from my house is getting put on my list!
What a great idea!!! I never would have thought about that. Thanks! 😊😊😊 Also, happy to know I'm not the only one who has set off the smoke detector. Was really beginning to worry about my cooking....🤪
@lizdc1 Oh that is awesome! What part of Maryland are you from? We just started camping in April and love all the great campgrounds in this area. We are so lucky. Just curious...where is your favorite place to camp in the area?
@@AmpedtoGlamp just next to DC but we camp all over the area. Here are some places to try. if you like the beach there are some great parks on the Delaware, Maryland shore. Top one would be Assateague island. There is both a state park and a national park with camping. This is 90% dry camping and hard to get into. But if you can set up so you have power without being plugged in it is amazing. The state park is spring to fall and you can reserve 1 year out. The national park is year round. RIGHT now from Nov 15-March 15th it is first come first serve. There are wild ponies and you camp right on the dunes. You are also a few mins from ocean city Maryland. Other beach spots cape henlepen in DE. right off the lewes ferry. And deleware seashore state park. Other places in the area. Elkneck state park in Maryland. Lums Pond in DE. Tuckhoe in Maryland. First landing state park in VA (virginia beach). Janes Island in Maryland. I have more but I will give that as a start. But if you check out the state parks in MD and DE there are a lot to pick from.
The smoke alarm part is pretty funny. We have had that happen to us in our Fifth Wheel. Learned we have to cook on a lower heat. Looks like a great park. Jiffy Pop and beers another camping experience. you need some hot dogs and sticks. The true camping experience. The hike was worth the view.
Yea. After a while all we could do was laugh. Then at one point we didn’t even notice the smoke detector 😊. The view at Westmoreland was great but the park needed repairs. We were very happy those were in the process of getting addressed. Ok. Next week we do the hot dogs 🌭. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend!
Hilarious smoke alarm episode. Isn’t that the most embarrassing thing?! I’ve had that same experience and I travel with pets, who got horribly distressed. My solution was to take the battery out of the smoke alarm when using the stove and putting it back in after the cooking’s done. That looks like a fantastic campground and I’m awfully impressed you made it up that flight of stairs. I would’ve needed a break for sure. I’ve found I really love state parks, just generally. It is true that the bathrooms can be sketchy, but the scenery is almost always fantastic and they tend to be great locations for outdoor activities.
For some reason UA-cam thought your post was spam and hid it from us. 🤷🏻♀️ Yes, the smoke detector made me second guess my cooking...was I doing it wrong? 🤣🤪🤣 Very odd placement...I could see it driving pets crazy. State parks are our favorite too! Nothing like being in nature.
We had that problem with the smoke detector in our Class C. We would take the battery out before cooking and put it back in when done. We have a Class B now and the smoke detector is located further back in the sleeping area; no problems at all. 😀
Hi Heather 👋! The sleeping area seems like a much better placement for the smoke detector. Less likely to go off there. Thanks for the tip about taking out the battery. Safe and fun filled travels!
Hey Rick and Darci. Not sure which flame you are referencing. We had on all the fans and opened the door. I think its just poor smoke detector placement...right above the stove.
@@RickandDarcirvadventures ahhh… yea, the flame died out so the popcorn was cooking over the hot coals. Actually worked better that way. It didn’t start popping until the fire went out 😊😂
Hi Leonard. Rig is fine. In fact we are camping with it in NC. The van was a rental we used as a part of the Outdoorsy video. Decided to also share the rest of our camping experience from that weekend. 😊
Hey! 👋 Still want to do a meetup. Planning for one for next season. We'd love to camp with you guys. Let's work on setting something up. Reach out to me via FB PM or our email.
Camping in a van was a very different experience. Check out this playlist for our other camping adventures. ua-cam.com/video/wNFqqTl34nE/v-deo.html

You guys always make me laugh. Love the cooking part and keeping it real. Beautiful area. Makes me miss the northeast just a little....
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊😊😊
You two are adorable! We will be visiting that park soon to hunt for shark teeth. Looking forward to it!!
Thank you! Hope you have an awesome time!

I was totally expecting the jiffy pop would be completely burned; but I'm glad you proved Jiffy Pop wrong!
Hey Andy 👋 Only a few burnt kernels. 😊

Thank you! Had to laugh several times with the smoke alarm fiasco. We have had that happen to us just in the house.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yea..it was pretty crazy 🤣🤣🤣 Who puts a smoke detector right above the stove? 😂
Great vlog, I plan on tent camping there this spring
Hope you enjoy it! It's nice being so close to the beach!

What happened to the flame? Turn on the fans in the rig and it should help with the smoke.
