Hi, the SP Cab Forwards AC 6 to AC 12 had peculiar sound of air pumps. And most of medium and heavy SP steam locomotives received "tug boat" air horns stating late 1930's. So I believe only ESU/Loksound makes a sound decoder specific for these locomotives with correct sounds. Soundtraxx Tsunami makes one with the "cab forward" air pumps, but does not includes the "tug boat" horn. TCS Wow includes a air horn in the steam decoder, however it is a modern KLA 5. Pure non sense! I don't know if QSI or MRC makes the correct decoder for these locomotives.
01/01/20. Good morning. It's my understanding that the horn was mainly used in the mountain where in the winter where there is/were snow drafts the whistle would/could trigger an avalance where as the Blat Horn had a softer tone to it.
I was delighted to find out that Walthers is still in business... I recently ran across my old 1970 catalog. Do you get most of your stuff from them???
Very cool... When you have a sec. guys, checkout my last year's club video, "CHERRY VALLEY MODEL RR CLUB LAYOUT" about #31st in from new... (pretty nice large "two" rail layout and also features a Cab Forward Steamer)... Thanks so much, Moses...
1:04 Not entirely sure but, the figure in the cab (fireman ?) looks too large/wrong scale. + Vid needs 90 deg moving side shots of entire engine/action/tender under way, not just opening/fish eye type shots, to really appreciate it..(hoping crew man is in scale, or absent, during). M, Los Angeles
I LOVE this Cab Forward train set here! I love the reefer cars on this set and the whistle and horn on this engine is super awesome!

Mark Harris, it is a Preiser figure, therefore 1:87 scale!
