As a native Canadian, I love that you were there to witness our culture. The first dancer in yellow is a Fancy Dancer, they are incredible, move super fast, i don't know how they can dance so fast without passing out. The next two dancers were Chicken Dancers, not traditionally old dancing style but still fun to watch. The next one who is holding hands with the people is a Grass Dancer, traditionally these dancers begin ceremonial tradition for such things as pow-wow's, it starts with them.
Lastly, when everyone is holding hands dancing in a circle, its called a round dance, traditionally it's a way of bringing people together from different tribes and cultures. When dancing, the people follow the path of the sun.
I'm so happy you included this in your video, enjoy your time visiting our great country.
    Hiy-Hiy Kinanâskomitin (Thank You)

Canadians don't consider it as our Independence Day. It is the day that the modern country of Canada was born; thus it is more like our Birthday.

I think they are comparing it so that American viewers will have an understanding of what Canada Day is.

@@sweetpixiesmile Agreed, the celebrations are similar in many ways; its just the reason that is different. It is also important to say that as in the US; celebrations are not the same across either country.

Yeah funny eh? When I heard it I cringed a little. We are in fact not independent in a sense as we are a commonwealth state. But a good comparison for Americans I guess 😊

All those who celebrate Canada as their home and native land celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. The day commemorates the anniversary of the Constitution Act, which consolidated three territories into the single nation of Canada, way back in 1867.

Great episode. As a Canadian, thank you for the way you approached Canada Day. You were enthusiastic and eager to celebrate almost as one of us - temporary citizens.
Glad you found a better poutine and got a better idea of what we rave about. The funny thing is that was probably a decent ish poutine… and many would argue about the poutine being better where they are. I’m not from there, but many feel like poutine in Quebec is the best… it definitely is partly because they have really great fresh curds there.

I see Nanaimo bars on your bucket list. To truly experience the genuine taste, you have to be in Nanaimo, munching one while you stroll the harbourside walkway. It looks like you are not planning to come to the most beautiful province of all, British Columbia. Please come back and visit the West Coast and Vancouver Island. You will be amazed.

Looking good. Hope you get to the north end of the parkway and do the Malign Lake and Mt Robson hikes for spectacular views.

I hope you drive down the Glacier Parkway to Jasper. Views are phenomenal. Jasper is so much different than Banff, less touristy and much more natural.
