Great video ! Thanks to made it from the beginning to the end ! I did it and finished it yesterday evening and for sure it is easier with the video than the booklet for me. The result is great ! I am very happy to have done it. Amicalement, Marylène from Paris :)
I was so excited to to receive the braided twist table runner. When I got it I was ecstatic then quickly realising it was not your instruction booklet. I received yesterday the package with the ruler and the book. With the tool and following the directions from the book and from this amazing tutorial, I already finished not one, but two table runners. It's addictive... I look forward for an extended pattern for quilts. Thank you very much! Cheryl, you're a veeeery good teacher!

I've signed up for newsletter from Philipsfiberart.com. I give both of my new table runners to my friends. They love it. Thanks a lot. I make Christmas present with no costs... 🤗
Thanks for a very good tutorial! I watched it on another site and was so totally confused. I followed along with your book and this tutorial and am confident I can do this!!!!
Hi Cheryl, I just received my braided twist template today, just finished watching your tutorial on it, very informative tutorial, I can't wait to try this, thank you,
I just completed my first runner and it came out perfect. I did watch the video as I was unsure of edge stitching on step 4. The video was great to see how to stitch the edges. It wasn't was complicated as it looks- great pattern and video!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to film such a thorough tutorial. I bought the set at a quilt store two years ago, but have been a bit intimidated to try it. Can't wait to start making these
Hi Cheryl Thank you for a great design! I don’t remember sending you a message before but I just wanted to let you know that I am making some runners with your pattern and they are beautiful. They will make great gifts . Thanks again!!
Love the runner, great video. As a left-handed person, I had to do the proverbial upside-down and backwards cutting. Actually, I did have to change the cutting instructions, for example, the fleece - I had to have the fold on the bottom and adjust the ruler accordingly. Directions are the same. My brain has to translate them into left-hand, lol. Still, fabulous tool and fun craft!
I just ordered the tool and book kit. I love the striped chevron that looks like feathers in the video. Can you share what that fabric is called so I can purchase? Thanks!
Mind blowing tool and technique! Making this twist is a lot of fun. I want to make a reversible twist, the instructions show only using two fabrics. Could I use 3 different fabrics? Thanks!
Send us an email, I can direct you to the right information. Brooke@phillipsfiberart.com Sorry for the delay. I'm horrible about youtube comments. I keep forgetting they are here. oops!
Thanks Cheryl for an awesome teaching video. Haven't started my project yet, waiting on Amazon to deliver my fusible fleece, but wondered how to get to "rest of the story". I'd like to download the info about fleece brands and cutting diagrams. Thanks again, great video!
Cheryl, do you happen to have a video that shows how to put together the Basic Variation: 3 fabrics A•1 A•2 B K and fleece? I’m trying to understand how to incorporate the 3rd one and I am confused lol. I’m trying to make one longer than the 5 shown.
Hi Cheryl fab demo, I have just purchase the braided twist tool and I was wondering whether this pattern could be extended to be completed into a quilt, or am I being to ambition. please could you advise as I have itchy fingers. thankyou
Cheryl - I'm working on making my first table runner today, 16 Sep 2024. I'm trying to follow the instructions in the book and your video. On the bottom of page 6, it says to cut half circles from all the remaining A, B, and K rectangles and it shows putting the tool on the wrong side of the rectangle pieces. Your video shows you cutting one rectangle and you say cut on right side of the fabric. You then go onto talking about the fleece. Should I cut out the four A, two B, and eight K half circles with the tool on the right side of the fabric or the wrong side of the fabric? Thanks for your help. Carol
Oh i'm so sorry i missed this. Did you by chance try our contact us form? It's the best way to get a hold of us in a timely manner. Feel free to use it any time!
I've made a couple of the original Braided Twist (Thank you for the detailed written instructions and great videos), and I'm just starting the reversible one. My mind is wanting take mug rugs with my extra fabric, but I can't get the measurements. Is there any chance of a companion template or any way to use the regular Twist template?
I just love the tutorial! I have my fabric already cut out. You mentioned about a built in walking foot. I do have a walking foot that I have to attach to my machine. Do you suggest I use it?
If you have problems stitching the layers with the fusible fleece, then yes use it. Every machine brand is different. I too have another walking foot that I can attach, but I haven't found it necessary with that machine. I hope this helps!
I love this fabric!! It's from Bluprint (formerly Craftsy). It's called Boundless Blenders Botanical Fabric. Right now it's only $10 a yard and less if you're a member. I love their fabric!
they should lie flat down the center (not bending in any way), that clip allows them to slip together. email me for more info! brooke@phillipsfiberart.com
I purchased the tool off of a facebook page and it did not come with a book. So, I watched tutorial on You Tube. I have noticed that my tool is 15" wide at the base and the one you used in your video 14" wide. It took me an hour to figure out why things weren't matching. Such as the fleece didn't match up on the tool. The video is great but the tool needs to be replaced. How do I order a new tool the correct size?
I’m so sorry but you’ve ordered from a counterfeit company!! There are numerous fraudulent Facebook “companies” selling counterfeit acrylic tools. So what you have is just a phony piece of plastic. They used photos of my hands, my table runners, my ideas--everything is stolen! I’m sincerely sorry you were taken advantage of. We’ve done everything we can think of to make Facebook remove these fraudulent ads but to no avail. I suggest you try to get your money back from your credit card company or PayPal. Some people have told me they have gotten refunds. You might think it looks genuine, but here are the big indicators to see if it is ours. Is there a copyright logo next to 2018? Is the plastic 1/8” clear acrylic with an exact 1/4” line? Was it packaged with a backer, book, and inserts? We work hard to create the best product we can but when someone steals it, there is nothing we can do to make it quite right. The tools they offer are not precise. The fact they took our tool (which is only offered in one size) and made it in 3 sizes but did not do the math involved to make them accurate, makes these tools useless. The original Braided Twist book and tool combination is the only one made by Phillips Fiber Art and only sold in a set. The book is not available to purchase alone.
We are unable to ship international but you can check your local shops. If they don't have it see if they can purchase through their distributors. Sorry my friend!
Great suggestion! I need to do one. But since I don't yet have that done, I know you can just top stitch the edge with great results. You'll do that for the entire edge, not just where they overlap. If you want it to be invisible, you can hand stitch it.
When I cut my endcap (in middle of page 6) I did not line the tool edges up with the material edges. I lined up the line with the material edges. therefore I think my piece is 1/4 inches shorter. I wonder if I should cut everything else a 1/4 inch shorter??? and continue??
I've had this pattern and template for about 3 years and I'm just now seeing your video. Duuh... should of looked along time ago. The pattern n template got buried, out of sight out of mind. UA-cam suggestion on my search for a spiral quilt.. Thanks YT
I checked all the comments, looking to see if anyone had the problem I did…I don’t see any… I found I had to stop and back up through many instructions as I found you spoke quickly. At the part where you joined the pieces, I did not see that you placed the second end cap in any special way… when I completed my runner, my last endcap is wrong. I am an experienced sewer/quilter so this surprised me.
If you're still struggling, use our contact form on the website. We are happy to help. My thoughts at the moment, you should be able to follow the sing song method of up,down,up,down all the way to the end, including the end cap. See the video at 29:00 to see that part. Oh Susan! I feel so badly for you. You purchased a phony counterfeit product. These companies on Facebook are terrible! They've outright STOLEN our concept--our intellectual property. They have stolen photos of our samples and our video clips without our approval. Then the product that I've seen is so substandard. Check the 1/4" lines along the edge of the tools. They don't appear to be accurate. They removed our copyright and often my name too. Can you see if you can return them or get a refund through your credit card? Then contact us through our web site.

For a placemat, Make two endcaps. Place one right side up and one right side down. Sew both center seams, then twist. I'm not sure what you mean by one in between? Like three circles?
Great information!

Do you have to snip the quarter inch seam so that it will lie flat?
The seam itself is not clipped just right up to it. See page 3 for instructions on that.

Hi Holly, Sadly you purchased a fraudulent tool. Please email me for more information. Brooke@phillipsfiberart.com
Is there a video about sewing the last step instead of using the fusible tape?
Great suggestion! I need to do one. But since I don't yet have that done, I know you can just top stitch the edge with great results. You'll do that for the entire edge, not just where they overlap. If you want it to be invisible, you can hand stitch it.
Finished mine this week, both the book & video were very helpful. Where did u get the purple & blue fabric on the cover of the book?
That was a beautiful line of fabric from Bluprint. Unfortunately they went out of business.

I ordered and received the template, but no book was included. How do I get the book?
I'm sorry but you must have ordered the fraudulent tools that are going around. We do not ever sell the tool without the book. Sorry for the delay. We do not actively monitor UA-cam. Please email us at brooke@phillipsfiberart.com if you have any further questions!
Do yo pre cut your fabric to 8x141/2?
yes that works best.

I cant figure out how to sew them together if i just want two endcaps and one piece in between, please help
For a placemat, Make two endcaps. Place one right side up and one right side down. Sew both center seams, then twist.
I'm not sure what you mean by one in between? Like three circles?
Great explanation of the pattern! I made this table runner last week and love it, wish i would have had this to follow :-)
What size is the fabrics?
This information is included in the book. You will need it to make this project. Sorry for the delay in responding!
If you're using batik fabric, remember which side is the front when you're doing the cutting and sewing of the end caps, trust me🧖
Very good point!
