In regards to what you said 2:29:25 about rhythm games being the home of music, I wholeheartedly agree. You put it into words better than I could for why rhythm games made me appreciate music so much in any form of media. When you start to understand why a song sounds good to you on a deeper level, and better yet how it elevates your gameplay experience, you not only have a deeper appreciation for it but you also open your mind to even more genres of music. As an Arcaea player, I’m glad to hear that you’ll try it out! With its most recent update, you’re just in time for its most accessible form for new players so far! The story content is a whole other experience that I won’t spoil, but I will say that if you choose to buy the main story packs, you will be in for a ride that won’t be regrettable :)
@justtoocringey.png.6324 good news for you. Or maybe you already know M2U created mecanopsis that have similar vibe with Marigold. Check it out and tell us if you can. I wanted to know😅
seeing any rhythm game stuff especially japanese rg get any attention honestly makes me incredibly happy, it's so untapped and underappreciated outside of its circles and surprisingly niche for how good the music and games are.
btw with xi's music in particular i think FREEDOM DIVE is probably his most overrated track ever and also the worst one in the Parousia album, I think Parousia or Halcyon or Ascension to Heaven would have been significantly better picks and probably more to your taste as well.
I just wanna point out since the live chat was wrong about it, but the genre of Grievous Lady is "Gothic Hardcore" Breakcore doesn't sound anything like that, lol. Breakcore is a subgenre of Drum n' Bass, which uses more chopped beats and usually sits at over 200BPM. It's a very chaotic subgenre, but it's definitely very far away from Grievous Lady I also saw Hardstyle mentioned in chat which is also very wrong, those are not Hardstyle kicks (which has a larger tail with a bit less of an accent at the peak), as well as being too fast for a hardstyle song (Hardstyle songs usually sit between 130-150BPM), also hardstyle has more emphasis on the melody over the kicks and is overall more "clean" sounding. Funnily enough, those are exactly the two genres of which people usually wrongly attach to electronic songs ❤because they usually think chaotic = breakcore or hard kicks = hardstyle. And that is actually a big problem in the EDM scene because it's harder to search for songs, but at this point I'm just yapping, EDM subgenres are very cool
This is exactly why I just call my music interests "Extreme japanese electronic music". There are so many different genre that sounds pretty similar that I'm afraid to classify songs wrong
It's so difficult to learn the names of these genres because when you google them, it's usually misleading information. Really appreciate your comment as it was educating to me.
thank you SO MUCH. Gothic Hardcore is my favorite genre and it is nothing like breakcore or hardstyle. I can see where people saying artcore are coming from, but at the same time artcore typically is much more upbeat and usually lacks the harpsichord and organ. The thing I find interesting about Gothic Hardcore is that it is almost purely contained with the J-Core scene and the Hardcore Tano*C Sphere, like I've never seen a true Gothic Hardcore song released outside of artists like Team Grimoire, Laur, Camellia (with stuff like Nightmare City), and adjacent artists (like the others working on Arcaea). It's such an interesting genre that hasn't really grown out of its bubblle.
I am a huge Arcaea fan. There have been some absolutely PHENOMENAL songs released recently that I think are VERY worth listening to. Here are some of my absolute favorites: - ALTER EGO by Yuta Imai vs Qlarabelle - Judement by Tatsunoshin - Swan Song by void (Mournfinale) - Lament Rain by Ashrount vs D-D-Dice -Designant. by Designant / Naganai Nanoru (this is an alias for a currently unknown artist or group of artists) - Aegleseeker by Silentroom vs Frums - Tempestissimo by t+pazolite As you can probably tell, I am a "Boss Track" enthusiast.
Love that you're open to listening to all kinds of music, really amazing how much variety can be found in rythm games. I'm a huge J-core/Gothic Hardcore/Frenchcore/Hardtek(
For people who liked listening to Griveous Lady, try listening to Abstruse Dilemma / Lament Rain / Aegleseeker / Ether Strike / Rays of Remnant / Arcana Eden
hurray, rhythm games forever!! im mostly familiar with the cytus/deemo ones, but really enjoyed all of the songs featured and always glad to hear ur thoughts on them. hope rhythm heaven makes it into the next stream...one of my fav game series (tho i mostly only played the DS one) as ppl may be able to tell from my username on here haha
As a former Beat Saber player glad to see the Arcaea representation with Grievous Lady, most of my favorite maps came from maps made off Arcaea songs. Some other rhythm game recommendations I would have: Ghost - Camellia Synthesized Angel - Sakuzyo Armageddon - LeaF (Or Aleph-0/mopemope) M2U - Nightmare Larva - Garigari Samushi
@@Brutus_Ignatious Tojita Sekai is my personal pick for Camellia but I had to have Ghost as the song that essentially created the heavy Camellia influence in Beat Saber
i think its awesome that you did this! outside of a few super popular songs, rhythm game music is often overlooked, so im glad you did this and i hope you react to more in the future ❤
If you're looking for more artcore songs, I'd highly recommend looking into Sakuzyo's or penoreri's works! A track I would recommend from each of them would be Sakuzyo's "I am "End"" and penoreri's "Monochrome and Vivid." These are pretty long tracks (about 8 min each) but they truly bring out the beauty and potential of the artcore genre
Would love to see more of this! I think Rhythm games are so satisfying and the music surrounding it I have loved for many years. It seems somewhat niche but is so varied. Also love the community interaction and suggestions. I'm also happy to see Arcaea making an appearance (and hopefully again in the future), my favourite rhythm game to date!
Arcaea mentioned!! It's been a long time since I played but it's a fantastic rhythm game. As soon as Grievous Lady was mentioned at the beginning when the tracklist was being formed, I knew brother was NOT ready (and his first reaction to Team Grimoire was much the same as mine). It's worth noting on the complaing about the length-based fatigue, I completely get that, and the actual original version featured in-game is a good deal shorter, maybe around 2:30 or so?
Does this mean that II from Cytus II can end up as ome of those tracks you show off to other people in the industry? Because that, in my opinion is probably one of the best pieces of music ever made for a game.
Oh he definitely should, like each song from each "artist" tells a story about the character. Team Rayark never failed from using songs that can tell a story and even creating one (through KIVA, Ice, etc.).
@@trashbeans Used to Be is Kiva, yes. As is the Whole Rest, which is also referenced in II. Loom is the main theme of the first game and as a result it's made by Sta, like Incyde is for this game. Still was made by Rua if I remember right
a rhythm game stream by marco my happiness is complete rhythm games have an incredible amount of depth even with the requirement to be fast and it's a reason that it's my favourite style of music for the last few years
camellia is definitely a must listen for rhythm game music most of his popular songs are featured **heavily** in rhythm games and his songs are very well known to have some of the hardest charts to ever exist and best thing is he has a pretty strong english presence on his twitter and has very good community interaction (for example he made a song just centred around a meme in the osu community called "wysi")
The «pata pata pata pon!» is the players inputs, that matches to the rhythm of the song to advance your army. The player has 4 drums: pata, pon, don & chaka, that they must combo together in different orders to command the army (pata pata pata pon is advance forward, pon pon pata pon would be attack for instance). That’s why in the song you listened to it sounds like it’s random every 8th beat. And yes you are correct, the player is the «god» in the game commanding the patapons in the world with your drums.
I somehow missed this stream and it got recommended me 2 days later Gotta say, crying right after I woke up was not on my to-do list but C2's II made me do exactly that just because of memories overflowing. 2020, March or maybe April, I'm downloading 3.0 update to C2, not knowing what to expect in a plot but knowing it's gonna be a grand finale And what leads to this song... I mean, it left most of us players devastated as far as I know. So this and also the fact that II is basically a mashup of Cytus 2's CHAOS, V, Used to be (ending song) and Cytus 1's Loom (basically title track of the game) makes such a massive combination of feelings that I feel there's only a few Cytus fans who DIDN'T cry at that moment
Highly suggest looking into the original songs from vivid/stasis, an indie title on steam. Tons of great artists involved in that, across boss songs and tournament releases alike! SUPERNOVA, Unraveling Stasis, Claudia -estella- and Claudia -libertia-, and STARGAZERS are some of my favorites.
Yes, also stop-motion, "_" (literally, the song name is just _), Astellion, and the sunrise showdown tracks, like Apocalypse Call, :3c, Surtr's wish, and so you felt... All of them are amazing
The classical music part reminds me of Cytus' "Chapter S", which does a great job of integrating well-known classical pieces into a rhythm game! One of my personal favorites is "The Purified". btw I highly recommend Sakuzyo’s artcore, definitely worth listening to!
Aw man, I missed the Rhythm Game music stream... I play so many Rhythm Games with arcade equipment (Taiko, Sound Voltex, Beatmania IIDX, Chunithm, Wacca to name a few, along with DJMAX)... This would have been a lot of fun for me. Taiko: Natsumatsuri Sound Voltex: Daily Lunch Special (tpz Overcute Remix) IIDX: Midnight Drive, or Odo (by Ado) Chunithm: Usseewa (another Ado song) Wacca: Jaegermeister (legitimately one of the most fun songs in a rhythm game, PERIOD) DJMAX: Runaway
Ah I wished I knew about this when you were doing it. I would've suggest iconic BMS/BOFU competition songs (it's a music competition where you need to make notes for a rhythm game and have MV/BGA (background art/animation) as well, they are very praised in Japan and Korea). Some of the very iconic songs from this are as follow if you want to check it out later: "Random" by Billiummoto, Sobrem, and Silentroom "Nhelv" by Silentroom "Pictured as Perfect" by Frums "Destr0yer" by Sakuzyo and Nikki Simmons
1:48:00 talking about harpsichord, and especially gothic hardcore, i wish he'd give a listen to gmtn., like furioso melodia or squartatrice vs. disperagioia, really insane tracks imo. thank you for this stream btw!
33:23 OH THE MAIN CYTUS 2 LEITMOTIF GAVE ME CHILLS. I haven't pkayed the game in literal years, but it's still is one of my top games from a Storytelling and Song Choice standpoint. Like, 36:43 made me cry while playing it. Just to give a background, II is actually the final song that you play as some sort of a "boss fight" that mixes a lot of popular Cytus 2 songs, which makes it melancholic from playing that song at that point of the game. Like, a big baddie is in front of you, and all the anime backstories are fueling the character to fight them. Also, please so more Rhythm Game Music features please. Especially Cytus 2 with its story-driven song choices from a wide-cast of characters that represent a genre/subgenre of music.
As a rhythm game music producer myself (aspiring*), I WISH I could have been there to see this live, or recommend some choices of my own. There is SO much variety within the rhythm game world, and I hope that you listen to more of it. From the crazy intense, to the crazy beautiful, to the just crazy in general. Personal picks (excluding various BMS songs which I'll probably make a different comment for): (Song - artist - game) Aegelseeker - Frums VS Silentroom - Arcaea Grevious Lady (laur remix) - Laur VS Team Grimoire - Arcaea XHRONOXAPSULE - Silentroom - Sound Voltex ΩΩParts - Camellia - Osu Meta-Mysteria - DJ Noriken - Wacca Wings on my Back - TAG - EZ2ON Summerblue - Toby Fox and Camellia - BeatMania iiDX grode - dandeless - Vivid Stasis Valor/Starcross - Lundy VS Wyvren - Vivid stasis Don't fight the music, and revive the melody - Chroma - ONGEKI (yes it's 2 in one)
If you would be interested, do check out artists like feryquitous, sakuzyo and void/mournfinale, and many others, amazing that they can do artcore and pure symphonic tracks as well. I would classify most of the rhythm game songs as under the "doujin music" genre as well, since they mostly originated as indie producers, from places like BMS of Fighters. This genre is by far the most diverse genre I have found, and the sound design and effort put into these tracks are amazing. You can find IDM tracks from artists like Frums, and Symphonic tracks from artists like satella, sennzai, morrigan, etc. This also makes it hard to find tracks like these unless you follow the artists or play rhythm games, since music like these are niche (or people do not even come across it often). While I do want to gatekeep this in some way selfishly, I also want to share this genre which I find amazing to more people like you!
Cytus II, Deemo and Arcaea are all mobile rhythm games, there's much other ones to check their songs (specially the boss ones), like: Phigros (my favorite), Rotaeno, Cytus 1, Orzmic, Rizline, Dynamix, etc. So maybe next stream - Listening to Mobile Rhythm Games Music. One of my Favorite RG songs are Distorted Fate. P.S. would be also funnier if you check the gameplay of the songs from these games i mentioned, your fingers will weaken just by watching. lol
something i really like about the modern rhythm game scene is the ability for games to commission artists to make music specifically for the game (maimai, sound voltex, arcaea, osu, etc) and it allows the game to make songs that fit a certain difficulty or type of map they want (osu's world cup commissions is really interesting for this reason) having a connection between artists and mappers/charters is what makes the music relate so much better to the gameplay
Hey Marco! I'm not sure if you know this already or not about Metal Hellsinger, but as you play through the level and get more kills/bigger point multiplier, each song will add a new instrument each multiplier tier, until you get the vocals at thw highest tier. It really adds such a dynamic experience to each level and the encounters. I played the demo last year when it came out and the experience is basically like playing Doom but to a rhythm
2:25:37 I totally agree and even more taking into account everything that M2U made, I'm Argentinian and their music gives me a Tango vibe that speaks to me very personally, I love it
Pls do more rhythm game musics :D, Some song suggestions that I think will fit this channel : xi- anima from Cytus, same creator as Freedom Dive but less intense more classical. Ice- L or Ice- Entrance from Deemo. Great piano/violin piece mix with edm element.
I have to say. Rhythm games have introduced me to some of the most beautiful masterpieces out there. I'm so glad they're getting the attention they deserve.
MARCO FINALLY REACTES TO FREEDOM DIVE!!!!!! Ngl it's really refreshing to see non-osu or rhythm players react to this, which is basically like the anthem of rhythm games. There's a follow up/sequel to this called Glorious Crown, but I also recommend reacting to L by Ice, there are like five versions, the 4 minute, 7 minute, 14 minute, and the hour long version. Each version is basically just each act, so the 4 minute one contains act 1, the 7 minute version contains acts 1 and 2, the 14 minute contains acts 1 to 3, and the hour long version contains all the acts. I honestly hope Marco reacts to the full version in a separate video, it's literally like listening an opera or play. There's also a narrative story behind the music, which I find really cool.
Look man. You should really really really look into Arcaea lore. And the music. Their story is so unique and the music is very very different. I will vouch for this game since ive played it for YEARS. I could even get a few recommendations. I really think you'd enjoy it if you took a bit of time on it. This game is CRAZY AS HECK DUDE. Remember genshin and its ties to story? Arcaea ties into gods quite a lot and whatnot. I will die on this gravestone and support that game till I die lmao. Now that's not to say thats the only good one but man.... that was the only game I can play for years. Literally I have man. (Editing note: if you do decide to listen to Arcaea music, id suggest their alternate versions. E.g, Aegleseeker is cool and all but Aegleseeker after world version is better and more complete feeling. So basically their CD extended variants)
I can't believe you talked about Disco Decent and Crypt of the Necrodancer, then went to Cadence of Hyrule, and didn't visit the tutorial level, which is the ultimate mashup of Disco Descent and Zelda tracks. Also you didn't go into the Shop keeper versions of the songs XD. When you get a chance, find the overworld version w/ the shopkeeper, or the crypt with they shopkeeper version. it's so freaking good haha. Also, you know this guy, FamilyJules was one of the guys who created the music of this game!!
if you're planning on doing another live stream for rhythm game music, I recommend checking (How to Make a Music Game Song!) of course it depends on the artist and music genre but that song nailed rg music in general lol
we need ICE and Xi music in here man. peak artcore please. edit: the patapon song's drums are actually a player pressing the buttons, that game is an RTS with rythm game controls.
2:30:30 challenging music to a duel? have you ever heard of a song called "Don't fight the music"? >:3 Its originally from ONGEKI and has chart in a lot of other games like project sekai, arcaea, etc. Speaking of Project Sekai, it is a mobile rhythm game but unlike other rhythm games music, their music style is more like j-pop and vocaloids so if you are interested you can check it out as well!
I hope you do more of these. I want to see reaction to HARDCORE TANO*C artists like Kobaryo, Laur, USAO, Massive New Krew, t+pazolite, or like Camellia
He should definitely listen to some BEMANI (Pop'n Music, DanceDanceRevolution, Beatmania/IIDX, SOUND VOLTEX) stuff bc the guy who made grievous lady actually has some songs in there lol
If you enjoyed Laur's Grievous Lady, i have to recommend more Gothic Hardcore and Laur: witch's slave (aka gmtn) - Furioso Melodia witch's slave - disperagioia team grimoire - CHAOS MAGNVM Laur - Arcana Eden Laur - Nihilism just some of my favorites
love patapon. it works like a soldier`s march. where you are the drill sergeant, and the patapons the recruits. but when fever kicks in, (the half point of the song) where you are in the zone. the call out almost sounds reverse with how fired up they are. like they are one step ahead of you. which is very fitting with the game play as you have to be always one step ahead to make correct actions as there reflects plays no rolls in this beat.
I know its sound selfish, but I really want a stream dedicated for Arcaea songs, i'm not forcing here, but really want people to know how good the story songs of Arcaea
Obviously late, but "BPM: Bullets Per Minute" has a great metal soundtrack, and my favorite from that game is "Into Asgard", which is the first level theme.
talk about unconventional ways to be introduced to opera, i was introduced to Toreador from a minigame in a nintendogs knockoff. cats were meowing to Toreador in a rhythm game. that was the first time i ever heard it.
The Legendary Theme or Tainted Lovers (If you like organs and choir singing with electric guitars more) from Gitaroo Man is amazing and I highly recommend those if you're gonna make another one of these!
Surprised to see DJMAX at the stream. You can press F1 during the game, or switch it in the Sound menu, so the music won't be affected by your performance.
59:18 OKay okay I get it we all get it, it's the Bakamitai guy lol. But seriously the Yakuza OSTs in general are dope as hell. Would recommend Machine Gun Kiss (any character will do but recommended sung by Adachi Koichi) and Judgement -Shinpan- edit: I recommending the OST that is still within the "rhythm game" part lol edit 2: 1:41:40 Team Grimoire is one of my favorite J-Core artist out there next to Camellia and t+pazolite
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU how did I miss this OTL I had so many songs I would have requested... You better have listened to the M2U Deemo trilogy (Magnolia, Myosotis, Marigold).
It is indeed the same person doing the clean and harsh vocals in Stygia, Alissa White-Gluz's band; Arch Enemy, leans more towards the harsh but you do get some of her clean vocals in there too. There's a lot of really really good music in Metal Hellsinger, from the vocalists of many different bands spanning a bunch of different metal sub genres; from Trivium to Jinjer to Lacuna Coil. I can't recommend the game enough, the music just sucks you in, and I'd say even if you aren't much of a metal fan you'll be headbanging along in no time
idk if this reaches you marcomeatball but i would love to see you react to some of the classics kurokotei or camellia made for rhythm games they are by far some of the biggest influences in the rhythm game genre
So much good music in rhythm games (i mean, fucking hope so). Muse Dash, Hatsune Miku Project Diva, but if I had to give you one recommendation, it would be Gitaroo Man. The entire OST bangs. I've played a lot of RGs, but Gitaroo may be my favorite in terms of the OST separate from the gameplay.
Man 3 hours of rhythm game music and not a single Camellia or T+Pazolite Song. 😔 Still would love to see more rhythm (and music) game reactions cause there are SO many bangers in this genre.
if you're searching for a mix of orchestra and trap/electronic sounds i truly recommend checking out Apashe's music, he has very interesting pieces i rlly enjoy
If you feel like making another video like this, feel free to make another post to collect songs, i can drop some cool tracks to Listen to. Namely from mobile rhythm games, there are just too many to skip them just like that ^^
Also in addition to topic at 1:59:50 Some rhythm games players don't even listen to the music itself to feel the rhythm and instead of that they use their own gameplay (button clicking, finger tapping even the hitsound in game) to figure out what to do.
While I am glad Grievous Lady got through the stream. I suggest listening to Laur and Team Grimoire's solo works (yes, Team Grimoire is ONLY one person). I suggest the following: Laur: The Viyella series, PRAGMATISM RESURRECTION, Arghena (in collaboration with Feryquitous), and overall just go listen to his albums lol, Laur is just very versatile Team Grimoire: CHAOS MAGNVM, ouroVoros, the Project Grimoire songs (Project Grimoire is composed of multiple people with Team Grimoire), Rrhar'il Now I also wanna point out that Grievous Lady is NOT artcore, the genre for the said song is Gothic Hardcore. Artcore is breakcore (sampled breakbeats arranged in an extreme manner) or drum n bass with piano and strings. For this genre, I really suggest listening to Feryquitous, onoken and Sakuzyo. Those three make the peak Artcore songs in rhythm games. (edit: NOT saying these three only compose artcore music! They make songs in different genres too!) Bonus: I also recommend listening to BlackY, void (Mournfinale), Nhato and Taishi too.
He needs to listen to more Team Grimoire! That reaction to Grievous Lady is delightful! (and in my opinion that song is one of the weaker songs by them)
eyy I recommend some of frums’ stuff like Of Ambrosia and XNOR XNOR XNOR and HALL. They usually make experimental stuff but they got some jazz stuff too on their soundcloud

Grievous Lady is sooo iconic, it is THE song when anyone think of Arcaea
I think it's not as iconic as GL but Ether strike is another one I think about when thinking arcaea
tempestissimo is probably my "the arcaea song"
Testify and designant gave me traumatic experience I can't forgeto
Fr 😂
The song that compelled me to play Arcaea, loved it to death.
The amount of passion during the Dimo II section made me fall in love with this channel again tbh
❤️
For people who liked listening to Griveous Lady, try listening to Abstruse Dilemma / Lament Rain / Aegleseeker / Ether Strike / Rays of Remnant / Arcana Eden
Ether Strike is peak sound design, that first drop was so sexy.
Please add Pragmatism Resurrection in your comment.
Because i just liked it and people should like it too😂
Designant.
Testify
Aegleseeker is beautiful
hurray, rhythm games forever!! im mostly familiar with the cytus/deemo ones, but really enjoyed all of the songs featured and always glad to hear ur thoughts on them. hope rhythm heaven makes it into the next stream...one of my fav game series (tho i mostly only played the DS one) as ppl may be able to tell from my username on here haha
As a former Beat Saber player glad to see the Arcaea representation with Grievous Lady, most of my favorite maps came from maps made off Arcaea songs.
Some other rhythm game recommendations I would have:
Ghost - Camellia
Synthesized Angel - Sakuzyo
Armageddon - LeaF (Or Aleph-0/mopemope)
M2U - Nightmare
Larva - Garigari Samushi
I feel like if we are gonna give Marco some Camellia music we have to give him Lowermost Revolt
also hey fellow beat saber player :)
Yeah lowermost revolt have some beautiful vocals
@@Brutus_Ignatious Tojita Sekai is my personal pick for Camellia but I had to have Ghost as the song that essentially created the heavy Camellia influence in Beat Saber
M2U mentioned 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
nah instead of ghost ooparts. it is more rhythm game-y
i think its awesome that you did this!
outside of a few super popular songs, rhythm game music is often overlooked, so im glad you did this and i hope you react to more in the future ❤
I wrote a whole paragraph about sakuzyo on the original post and he just scrolled past it in the start of the stream😂
feryquitous's or acutic notes's works are great tooo
Altale is also recommended
It's worth noting on the complaing about the length-based fatigue, I completely get that, and the actual original version featured in-game is a good deal shorter, maybe around 2:30 or so?
my niche is being seen
ive never felt more alive
KIVA my GOAT
Does this mean that II from Cytus II can end up as ome of those tracks you show off to other people in the industry? Because that, in my opinion is probably one of the best pieces of music ever made for a game.
Oh he definitely should, like each song from each "artist" tells a story about the character. Team Rayark never failed from using songs that can tell a story and even creating one (through KIVA, Ice, etc.).
@trashbeans Since II has leitmotifs from Used to Be, Loom, and Still, perhaps Marco should pull one of those out the next time he does this
@acario100 Oh I second that. Those are all KIVA/SIHanatsuka songs, right?
@@trashbeans Used to Be is Kiva, yes. As is the Whole Rest, which is also referenced in II. Loom is the main theme of the first game and as a result it's made by Sta, like Incyde is for this game. Still was made by Rua if I remember right
@acario100 Got it. I forgot my Cytus composers hahahahaahha
Hello to all 12 Rhythm Thief enjoyers :D
Yo👍🏻

Saw "rhythm game music". Came for this.
pog cytus 2 and greivious lady got featured
Hope you get through whatever's been giving you negativity soon Marco!
a rhythm game stream by marco my happiness is complete
rhythm games have an incredible amount of depth even with the requirement to be fast and it's a reason that it's my favourite style of music for the last few years
camellia is definitely a must listen for rhythm game music most of his popular songs are featured **heavily** in rhythm games and his songs are very well known to have some of the hardest charts to ever exist and best thing is he has a pretty strong english presence on his twitter and has very good community interaction (for example he made a song just centred around a meme in the osu community called "wysi")
I somehow missed this stream and it got recommended me 2 days later
Gotta say, crying right after I woke up was not on my to-do list but C2's II made me do exactly that just because of memories overflowing. 2020, March or maybe April, I'm downloading 3.0 update to C2, not knowing what to expect in a plot but knowing it's gonna be a grand finale
And what leads to this song...
It’s so interesting to see more and more people noticing Rhythm Games now and it’s surprising to say the least
Viyellas Destiny by Laur is incredible if you like that Gothic Hardcore. He makes insane rhythm game music. He helped produce Grevious Lady
very very true
Laur is one of the few that I followed outside of rhythm games, their stuff is so good.
@@justinedzard All of the hardcore TANO*C guys are great

Shit, this was our chance to show him anima
He reacted to Freedom Dive, close enough. would love to see him react to more of XI's work.
@@HittingBandyANIMA is completely different from Freedom dive lol
@@jen8427 I'm mostly saying we got him reacting to one of XI's works. I know Anima is different from Freedom Dive.
ARCAEA MENTION!!!
Yeah like 90% of that entire soundtrack is underappreciated bangers
trans gay goobers rise up 🔥🔥🔥
vivid/stasis mentioned in the comments lfg
Hello vivders
Yes, also stop-motion, "_" (literally, the song name is just _), Astellion, and the sunrise showdown tracks, like Apocalypse Call, :3c, Surtr's wish, and so you felt... All of them are amazing
Man theres so much music in rhythm games, you gotta check out music from Silentroom, Frums, Kobaryo, T+pazolite, Sakuzyo
Taiko: Natsumatsuri
Sound Voltex: Daily Lunch Special (tpz Overcute Remix)
IIDX: Midnight Drive, or Odo (by Ado)
Chunithm: Usseewa (another Ado song)
Wacca: Jaegermeister (legitimately one of the most fun songs in a rhythm game, PERIOD)
DJMAX: Runaway
Ah I wished I knew about this when you were doing it. I would've suggest iconic BMS/BOFU competition songs (it's a music competition where you need to make notes for a rhythm game and have MV/BGA (background art/animation) as well, they are very praised in Japan and Korea). Some of the very iconic songs from this are as follow if you want to check it out later:
"Random" by Billiummoto, Sobrem, and Silentroom
"Nhelv" by Silentroom
"Pictured as Perfect" by Frums
"Destr0yer" by Sakuzyo and Nikki Simmons
KIVA and SIHanatsuka behind the music direction and many of the songs featured in Cytus II did such a good job on the game. Always loved those guys.
They (and the game) will always be a part of my musical influences.
1:48:00 talking about harpsichord, and especially gothic hardcore, i wish he'd give a listen to gmtn., like furioso melodia or squartatrice vs. disperagioia, really insane tracks imo. thank you for this stream btw!
Really late but you should give Camellia, an edm producer, a listen. He's popular in the rhythm game genre too.
My hearth goes wild seeing someone being so amazed by Grivious Lady because its a fucking banger to play
DEEMO AND CYTUS MENTIONED
Timestamps? :0
Ok i think i found them lol
@@elith6930 timestamps?
Oh right at the start lol
I wasnt expecting to see it 😮
ARCAEA ALSO MENTIONED
ALSO BERTHOVEN VIRUS FROM PUMP IT UP? Oh Marco.
Personal picks (excluding various BMS songs which I'll probably make a different comment for):
(Song - artist - game)
Aegelseeker - Frums VS Silentroom - Arcaea
Grevious Lady (laur remix) - Laur VS Team Grimoire - Arcaea
XHRONOXAPSULE - Silentroom - Sound Voltex
ΩΩParts - Camellia - Osu
Meta-Mysteria - DJ Noriken - Wacca
Wings on my Back - TAG - EZ2ON
Summerblue - Toby Fox and Camellia - BeatMania iiDX
grode - dandeless - Vivid Stasis
Valor/Starcross - Lundy VS Wyvren - Vivid stasis
Don't fight the music, and revive the melody - Chroma - ONGEKI (yes it's 2 in one)
P.S. would be also funnier if you check the gameplay of the songs from these games i mentioned, your fingers will weaken just by watching. lol
something i really like about the modern rhythm game scene is the ability for games to commission artists to make music specifically for the game (maimai, sound voltex, arcaea, osu, etc) and it allows the game to make songs that fit a certain difficulty or type of map they want (osu's world cup commissions is really interesting for this reason)
having a connection between artists and mappers/charters is what makes the music relate so much better to the gameplay
2:25:37 I totally agree and even more taking into account everything that M2U made, I'm Argentinian and their music gives me a Tango vibe that speaks to me very personally, I love it
Pls do more rhythm game musics :D, Some song suggestions that I think will fit this channel :
xi- anima from Cytus, same creator as Freedom Dive but less intense more classical.
I know of 4 and 7 minute versions and can guess that 1h is Chapter L but... What is a 14min version of L?
@kurokamikage_official it's basically acts 1 to 3. Like I said, the seven minute one only has acts 1 to 2.
glorious crown itself also has a sequel, it's called heavenly blast
add citanLu in there too
Definitely want a part 2 of this
Make it a series will be wonderful
I can't believe you talked about Disco Decent and Crypt of the Necrodancer, then went to Cadence of Hyrule, and didn't visit the tutorial level, which is the ultimate mashup of Disco Descent and Zelda tracks. Also you didn't go into the Shop keeper versions of the songs XD. When you get a chance, find the overworld version w/ the shopkeeper, or the crypt with they shopkeeper version. it's so freaking good haha. Also, you know this guy, FamilyJules was one of the guys who created the music of this game!!
Cytus II lore really is amazing, I recommend it so much!
if you're planning on doing another live stream for rhythm game music, I recommend checking (How to Make a Music Game Song!)
of course it depends on the artist and music genre but that song nailed rg music in general lol
Team grimoire makes some banger orchestra edm music for rhythm games
I also knew mili from deemo than from limbus company
I never thought I hear Myosotis again since 2015. 🗿
we need ICE and Xi music in here man.
peak artcore please.
edit: the patapon song's drums are actually a player pressing the buttons, that game is an RTS with rythm game controls.
2:30:30 challenging music to a duel? have you ever heard of a song called "Don't fight the music"? >:3
Its originally from ONGEKI and has chart in a lot of other games like project sekai, arcaea, etc.
Next time he does this he should do Dantalion, Tempestissimo, and Arcahv from Arcaea
He should definitely listen to some BEMANI (Pop'n Music, DanceDanceRevolution, Beatmania/IIDX, SOUND VOLTEX) stuff bc the guy who made grievous lady actually has some songs in there lol
If you enjoyed Laur's Grievous Lady, i have to recommend more Gothic Hardcore and Laur:
witch's slave (aka gmtn) - Furioso Melodia
witch's slave - disperagioia
team grimoire - CHAOS MAGNVM
Laur - Arcana Eden
Laur - Nihilism
just some of my favorites
love patapon. it works like a soldier`s march.
where you are the drill sergeant, and the patapons the recruits.
but when fever kicks in, (the half point of the song) where you are in the zone. the call out almost sounds reverse with how fired up they are. like they are one step ahead of you. which is very fitting with the game play as you have to be always one step ahead to make correct actions as there reflects plays no rolls in this beat.
2:47:55 dude goosebumps, Oblivion was the very first rhythm game track that glued me to the genre
I know its sound selfish, but I really want a stream dedicated for Arcaea songs, i'm not forcing here, but really want people to know how good the story songs of Arcaea
I had to leave a second comment..ive been happy watching this video like 3 times already. You make really good points and observations
You need to dig more into the Japanese rhythm game community!
m2u has so much fantastic music, he's amazing at blending edm with traditional instruments. felis is my personal favorite.
omg idk if anyone else suggested it but my pick was Stygia and im so happy he listened to it
M2U is the goat
Obviously late, but "BPM: Bullets Per Minute" has a great metal soundtrack, and my favorite from that game is "Into Asgard", which is the first level theme.
id like to see you react to cres - end time!! its one of the most beautiful rhythm game songs ive ever heard
I’d recommend some older BEMANI tracks, stuff like old club and goa trance Beatmania IIDX songs. It’s a very deep rabbit hole.
my fingers hurt hearing these songs after so long
talk about unconventional ways to be introduced to opera, i was introduced to Toreador from a minigame in a nintendogs knockoff. cats were meowing to Toreador in a rhythm game. that was the first time i ever heard it.
LURVE
The Legendary Theme or Tainted Lovers (If you like organs and choir singing with electric guitars more) from Gitaroo Man is amazing and I highly recommend those if you're gonna make another one of these!
For II, theres the system offline version that is fully orchestral style music
I hope you can someday react to music from Hylics, Felvidek or Nine Sols!
Nine sols mentioned! Totally agree
All 3 of them are a must
I'm being super biased, but the high I got from hearing Grievous Lady for the first time is not gonna be topped for a long time.
Surprised to see DJMAX at the stream.
You can press F1 during the game, or switch it in the Sound menu, so the music won't be affected by your performance.
And there is official YT DJMAX ARCHIVE you can listen all the original track in game.
59:18 OKay okay I get it we all get it, it's the Bakamitai guy lol. But seriously the Yakuza OSTs in general are dope as hell. Would recommend Machine Gun Kiss (any character will do but recommended sung by Adachi Koichi) and Judgement -Shinpan-
edit: I recommending the OST that is still within the "rhythm game" part lol
edit 2: 1:41:40 Team Grimoire is one of my favorite J-Core artist out there next to Camellia and t+pazolite
AYO ANOTHER MACHINE GUN KISS ENJOYER 🔥🔥🔥
But yeah kinda disappointed he skipped Akiyama ver which is the best version ever 😔
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU how did I miss this OTL
I had so many songs I would have requested... You better have listened to the M2U Deemo trilogy (Magnolia, Myosotis, Marigold).
Omg I love it so muchhh. I really like rhythm game (i play Cytus II and Arcaea) and so glad to see this vid.
Still would love to see more rhythm (and music) game reactions cause there are SO many bangers in this genre.
if you're searching for a mix of orchestra and trap/electronic sounds i truly recommend checking out Apashe's music, he has very interesting pieces i rlly enjoy
I don't think Gitarooman ever made it in despite being readied... :(
awww man, i missed the chance to do a recommendation, any chance you'll be doing more rhythm game music reactions in the future?...
2:53:55 You don't get good at the song, you play enough where your muscle memory remembers what buttons to press when you see certain patterns.
oh man i would've picked secret illumination from Rotaeno for this stream
If you feel like making another video like this, feel free to make another post to collect songs, i can drop some cool tracks to Listen to. Namely from mobile rhythm games, there are just too many to skip them just like that ^^
Also in addition to topic at 1:59:50
Some rhythm games players don't even listen to the music itself to feel the rhythm and instead of that they use their own gameplay (button clicking, finger tapping even the hitsound in game) to figure out what to do.
While I am glad Grievous Lady got through the stream. I suggest listening to Laur and Team Grimoire's solo works (yes, Team Grimoire is ONLY one person). I suggest the following:
Laur: The Viyella series, PRAGMATISM RESURRECTION, Arghena (in collaboration with Feryquitous), and overall just go listen to his albums lol, Laur is just very versatile
Team Grimoire: CHAOS MAGNVM, ouroVoros, the Project Grimoire songs (Project Grimoire is composed of multiple people with Team Grimoire), Rrhar'il
Now I also wanna point out that Grievous Lady is NOT artcore, the genre for the said song is Gothic Hardcore. They make songs in different genres too!)
Bonus: I also recommend listening to BlackY, void (Mournfinale), Nhato and Taishi too.
Love to see cytus and arcaea songs
u definitly need to try listening music in maimai(an arcade rhythm game
there are lots of fantastic music(especially the 14+ songs
He needs to listen to more Team Grimoire! That reaction to Grievous Lady is delightful! (and in my opinion that song is one of the weaker songs by them)
Someone Got to Give this man Hello Bpm Series.
Grevious Lady is so good
I'd highly recommend CyberConnect by Blacklolita, it's from DDR and it's a mix between electro and hardcore. Really nice.
I highly recommend you to listen to Testify from Arcaea, you wont regret it.
eyy I recommend some of frums’ stuff like Of Ambrosia and XNOR XNOR XNOR and HALL. They usually make experimental stuff but they got some jazz stuff too on their soundcloud
