That’s actually the opposite of quicksand. With quicksand, the more you move the faster you sink. But with ooblek, (which is what they are using) if you move around or punch it, you will stay on top. If you stay still you will just sink.
Essentially they created a non-Newtonian fluid which is a fluid that does not follow Newton's law of viscosity. What this means is that under pressure it acts like a solid but it normally flows like a liquid
It’s called a non Newtonian fluid and basically if you apply force onto it, it pushes back but if you are soft, it acts like normal water, so you sink.
Hey, I’ve been watching your videos for about 9 years now and you guys have inspired me to do a lot of things when I was younger and I feel happy about that. But I miss the old days, so it it possible that you can have a month of the year dedicated to recreating the old videos exactly how they were, editing, random dance moments in between, trick shots, ect. Pound it, noggin, see ya
The fluid is **NON-NEWTONIAL FLUID** A non-Newtonian fluid is a fluid that doesn't follow Newton's law of viscosity. This means that its viscosity can change when it's subjected to force. For example, ketchup becomes runnier when shaken. Non-Newtonian fluids have variable viscosity that depends on stress. This means that their viscosity can change to either more liquid or more solid when under force. For example, toothpaste is solid in the tube but flows like a liquid when squeezed or sheared. The viscosity of a non-Newtonian fluid will change due to agitation or pressure, which is technically known as shear stress. Some examples of non-Newtonian fluids include: Ketchup, Toothpaste, Mayonnaise. Engineers can use their understanding of how non-Newtonian fluids behave under stress to design stronger foundations and buildings to survive earthquakes. You can also try this experiment to make a non-Newtonian fluid: Add ¼ cup of dry cornstarch to a bowl. Add about 1/8 cup (2 tablespoons, or 30 cm3) of water to the corn starch and stir slowly. Continue to add water until the cornstarch acts like a liquid when you stir it slowly.
For those who wondered, it’s actually Ooblek that they used
Thank you 😅
@@BG-bx4eynormally id be on your train but if you didnt know basic pop culture in oobleck… yeah thats on you

I think you are right. But this is still highly entertaining.
It's called Newtonian fluid
@@abhijitsarma9554 Non-newtonian*
Because it doesnt follows newtons laws of viscosity

It's made from water and cornstarch. Yeah it's goopy but it washes up with more water very quickly
Pat2. Please
I don't think I will ever find a channel I enjoy watching more than you guys. I'm so interested to know how that quicksand works.
It’s called oobleck it’s a mix of cornstarch and water and creates a really odd substance
That’s awesome! 😯 I need a battle video 😎👏

Legend has it Coby is stuck in the oobleck to this day.
Ooblek!!! I need to make some right now!

I was gonna say, that's not quicksand...

We need an oobleck trick shot video now
Nice! I love y’all’s videos! Keep it up, y’all bring me joy!

I definitely want to see quicksand trickshot because it’s hilarious and it’s freaking funny to watch so please
Thats not quicksand it is obleck which is a non-newtonian fluid so if it is struck it will be hard but if pressure is sustained it is a liquid.
I didn’t know corn starch + water had a name, nice
That looks soooooo fun!!!!!!!! How did y’all make that stuff???
Its really sad to see there downfall😢
I got trapped in quicksand once, my whole life flashed before my eyes💀
Video idea: who can hit a target with a football first while sinking in that
Lol Coby struggling to get out 😂
Dang that is some mark Rober level stuff
For anyone wondering what that stuff is, it is called ooblek, and it can be made by mixing water and cornstarch. It’s actually really fun!
For those who don't know, the quicksand is oobleck. It really is like quicksand if you sink in it
I’m surprised you made it that fast nice 😮💨

“Legend says that the dumbbell never came back”
Its a non Newtonian fluid. One mistake people make when trying to escape is moving too quickly and forceful. Move slowly without much force.

Oobleck, ie. non-Newtonian fluid. simplified version is a mix of corn starch and water. so if you pound it/noggin, you don't sink.
So grandpa how did you survive quicksand?
Grandpa: I danced like there was no tomorrow 🕺

That is not quick sand. It seems to be a non-Newtonian fluid such as oobleck or custard.
It’s ooblek. Discovered by dr. Seuss. It’s water and corn starch
It was named after a book by dr.Seuss, the material existed beforehand.
Oobleck is amazing.
More passion, more footwork, more energy
I've got to say "that was a beautiful shot!" lol
Oobleck is quite literally the opposite of quicksand if you stop moving in quicksand you’ll float up, but still a neat video

That was surprisingly entertaining❤
That would be a fun sports challenge, quicksand sports battle 🤙🏻
Moving frantically in quicksand can actually make things worse. This is reverse quicksand
