I know that some of the larger jellyfish depend entirely on their zooxanthellae for sustenance and no longer use their tentacles to catch prey. Perhaps their nematocysts have atrophied away?

pukulu nematocysts also have to do with defense so many jellyfish still have them even if they are sustained by photosynthesis
