I think the reaction is not only because of these last 2 podcasts, where i agree you had good points, but accumulation of several podcasts this year where in my (subjective) opinion you and prof have been sometimes quite dismissive of navis ability so people want to intentionally misunderstand what you said.

is Striker stupid ? With MR12 , there are more pistol rounds and more eco rounds by default since you have less rounds to play, even with a large sample size. In MR15 there were 2 pistol rounds every 24 rounds on average , in MR12 there are 2 pistol rounds every 18 rounds on average . Same goes for ecos since after the pistol u have a force and/or an eco .
But the economy shift doesn't directly change the average output that happens in a round, it's more the cascading effect on how the teams react to there being fewer opportunities (e.g. that leading to more saving). Just because there are more pistol rounds doesn't mean that causes a difference in output on average, there's plenty of saving in those rounds as well as normal gunrounds. The entire point behind what I was saying was a reaction to people complaining how we were defending rating in MR12, which was that they didn't understand what they were complaining about and made it sound like the formula isn't made for MR12, and more skewed ratings being a result of the rating not working as intended. More skewed ratings happen within single maps because, the smaller sample size, the higher chance of someone going very high or very low. The larger sample size there is the more likely it is that people will fall within a more narrow spectrum of ratings.

Fr, Niko is great when he's in the zone but the amount of times jL clutched rounds, do smart plays and essentially do a lot of the heavy lifting for Navi which gets them the wins is not highlighted in numbers at all.
Haven't even watched yet, but just from the timestamp chapters, I 100% agree with Spunj on G2 being the least coachable team. It just feels like they wouldn't reach their peaks if you truly put these players in a strict system. Like sure, they'd probably have more consistent results and a higher floor performance, but their ceiling wouldn't be as high as it is without the star players being free to do what they want to do (and here, I'm referencing m0nesy and Niko *as well as* Malbs). They're truly a coinflip team with this Taz coach - Snax IGL duo. At the end of the day, I don't mind it though. Most entertaining team to watch, win or loss lmao
idk why this keeps coming up though, because its probably just not true. in a interpersonal sense, sure it seems likely the egos on the team might refuse to accept strict systems, but in a purely performant sense they're actively degrading their capability. Peak s1mple, the most unpredictable player of all time, managed to work under blades system, not just once, but over 3 roster iterations. If thats not a clear indication that you can maintain peak CS form under a highly tactical system, idk what is.
probably true but I also think a team can't really reach a high enough peak with that individual style and those individual players, unless they have a godlike igl like Karrigan which is one of a kind. G2 wants to be Faze with the star power and loose playstyle but there's just no one else to bring cohesion to that type of team like Karrigan does.
After meeting Spunj in person in the arena it feels a bit weird to hear him saying that he was trying to get to the bottom of the "empty" arena and not why so many people didn't show up even thou they bought the tickets. I don't know if you guys do interviews with random people, but I bet a lot of folks in there (including me) could have talked to you guys about this.
I disagree so much about the assists thing. Doing 15-25 damage puts you in 1 shot headshot range for so many weapons. Sure they don’t always get the headshot kill, but it still makes that so much easier to do. It’s 2 less bullets which can make the difference in late round/clutch situations. I think Valve made the right choice.
About the topic around 1:30:00 Assist should probably never be based on a flat damage. Specially not the same damage on CT and T side. If you hit someone once on ct and your mate later gets an insta hs kill on him it should count as an assist even if it was only for about 20 damage
As a G2 fan, I understand the hate with the underperformaces. However, saying theres no present and no future after winning Dallas and Fall Final this year is insane to me. IF Niko leaves, you do everything to keep malbs and m0nesy and poach xertion from Mouz. If me as a fan can see these moves, surely the GM can see it.
Malbs is carrying hard enough to give G2 a future, and honestly it would be best if the other players left barring Monesy, I think Snax is a kinda doomed project, Hunter and Niko have not been pulling their weight consistently for a while. If you can keep Monesy then you build around him and Malbs and with the right pieces that could be the best team in the world.
I'm ok with direct invites to the major, however, if rmrs are going to be removed a lot of smaller region teams are going to have no support. Look at NA. If this new major system is implemented, many NA teams won't even have the opportunity to earn points to increase ranking. Currently, NA barely hosts tournaments. Nero brings up 3DMax performing well but they have an abundance of tournaments to play in Europe. If you look at NA right now the only teams that even have a chance to go to europe would be M80, COL, and maybe Wildcard. Most of the teams in NA in ECL are orgless in contrast to europe. How many of them would have the funds to travel to EU to play in tournaments with the chance of increaseing ranking? It's basically impossible. With this system, we are going to see the same titan orgs at the major again and again. If you are an orgless 5, it's basically impossible to make a major especially from a smaller region.
g2 should without a doubt change their ct positioning. Snax has never been an anchor and he should not be one, instead he should be the one kind of rotating and supporting as Hunter kind of sucks at that. I reckon just switching the role of these two players could do something positive and then they could also move someone so that monesy niko and malbs aren’t all on the same side of the map

I was just reading through these thinking the same thing. Wtf happened? Why are people so hostile over what someone thinks of a CS team? Especially if you're a Navi fan right now, the nice thing about supporting a team that is currently the best in the world is that you don't need to defend them in conversations, you can just let the results speak for themselves.
In my view, a lot of the Brazilian issue of not rooting for other teams is largely due to the fact that they have an entirely national team... For most countries that do not have a national team, fans have to choose one of the existing teams to support, which naturally ends up generating a huge fan base for everyone. But that's not the case in Brazil, we have the Furia, why would we root for other teams? Furthermore, events in Brazil do not have as much appeal for European countries, which also reduces the number of fans for teams from there.

probably true but I also think a team can't really reach a high enough peak with that individual style and those individual players, unless they have a godlike igl like Karrigan which is one of a kind. G2 wants to be Faze with the star power and loose playstyle but there's just no one else to bring cohesion to that type of team like Karrigan does.

I disagree so much about the assists thing. Doing 15-25 damage puts you in 1 shot headshot range for so many weapons. Sure they don’t always get the headshot kill, but it still makes that so much easier to do. It’s 2 less bullets which can make the difference in late round/clutch situations. I think Valve made the right choice.

Assist should probably never be based on a flat damage. Specially not the same damage on CT and T side. If you hit someone once on ct and your mate later gets an insta hs kill on him it should count as an assist even if it was only for about 20 damage
Maybe CS would do well to have designated transfer periods post majors.

As a G2 fan, I understand the hate with the underperformaces. However, saying theres no present and no future after winning Dallas and Fall Final this year is insane to me. IF Niko leaves, you do everything to keep malbs and m0nesy and poach xertion from Mouz. If me as a fan can see these moves, surely the GM can see it.
Malbs is carrying hard enough to give G2 a future, and honestly it would be best if the other players left barring Monesy, I think Snax is a kinda doomed project, Hunter and Niko have not been pulling their weight consistently for a while. If you can keep Monesy then you build around him and Malbs and with the right pieces that could be the best team in the world.

I'm ok with direct invites to the major, however, if rmrs are going to be removed a lot of smaller region teams are going to have no support. Look at NA. If this new major system is implemented, many NA teams won't even have the opportunity to earn points to increase ranking. Currently, NA barely hosts tournaments. Nero brings up 3DMax performing well but they have an abundance of tournaments to play in Europe. If you look at NA right now the only teams that even have a chance to go to europe would be M80, COL, and maybe Wildcard. Most of the teams in NA in ECL are orgless in contrast to europe. How many of them would have the funds to travel to EU to play in tournaments with the chance of increaseing ranking? It's basically impossible. With this system, we are going to see the same titan orgs at the major again and again. If you are an orgless 5, it's basically impossible to make a major especially from a smaller region.
g2 should without a doubt change their ct positioning. Snax has never been an anchor and he should not be one, instead he should be the one kind of rotating and supporting as Hunter kind of sucks at that. I reckon just switching the role of these two
players could do something positive and then they could also move someone so that monesy niko and malbs aren’t all on the same side of the map

In my view, a lot of the Brazilian issue of not rooting for other teams is largely due to the fact that they have an entirely national team...
For most countries that do not have a national team, fans have to choose one of the existing teams to support, which naturally ends up generating a huge fan base for everyone. But that's not the case in Brazil, we have the Furia, why would we root for other teams?
Furthermore, events in Brazil do not have as much appeal for European countries, which also reduces the number of fans for teams from there.
It doesn’t really matter. If you’re not going to fill the arena in a final orgs won’t want to come back. Especially with that’s travel distance.

I do agree vitality also deserves the same scrutiny as g2 but that's just how it is.
