I taught myself how to run/operate everything because some old man told me “no one going to teach you just jump up there and fake it until you make it” that’s exactly what I did.
Only got to run a skid steer once in my life! And I couldn't believe that my friend was paying me for running it. Loved it. Thank you Jeff luzier. My you rest in peace! Mike Arntson.
I only operated a kubota KX-075 S excavator for my drain company. I’m begging my boss to buy a tilt rotator for it. It’s the most relaxing thing ever. I remember when I loaded my first dump truck I almost had tears in my eyes cause I was so happy
Operating machinery is unbelievably satisfying. I grew up from the age of 11 driving the skidder and dragging logs out of the woods working for my dad. It was the most amazing amazing and wonderful thing to do. I still love you I’m 58.
I am a grader operator and got to say I love my job. I drove tractor trailer for 16 years and 5 years ago I made a change I thought about starting to haul oversized loads when an opportunity to get on our local DOT came up for plowing snow in the winter and took the challenge and it worked into me getting the equipment operator position here and I can honestly say I love my job there is days I miss the road but wouldn't even think about going back. Since coming here I've learned to run dump truck, backhoe, grader, loader, excavator, roller and the other day got to run a skid steer with a sweeper that is what makes this job so enjoyable you are always doing something different.
I used to work in the gravel pits west of Detroit, I was like a kid in a sandbox lol. The 560 huff was a beast and a good machine for loading trucks. The next best machine was a 190 northwest dragline.
Yup. Anything that requires total concentration is one of the only times it's ever quiet in my head. Enjoyed my 10 years as a truck crane apprentice/operator. Racing motorcycles also does the trick :D
Skidsteers can beat you up… mini is usually pretty smooth and quite. :) plus our skid is open cab and our mini is in closed and has heat and AC… so easy win for mini
I have operated heavy equipment for 35 years from 400ton trucks to D11 dozers, scrapers to large wheel loaders, skid steer loaders to large excavators, small excavators, rubbertire backhoe. I find all to be challenging in there own ways. It take years of practice and patients to be a good efficient operator. I enjoy doing a good job!
i'm in the last two weeks of my project and I miss operating the equipment so bad!!! all that's left for me to do right now is pick up trash and seed the levees However, today, and my foreman is going to train me on this piece of equipment, so I'm kind of excited for that :)

In my opinion, Cat D9G dozer, full U blade. Favorite machine by far. It's one of those machines that operates you, unlike the newer Hi tracks which you operate it.
When I was 14 I started running a cherry shaker and it was so much fun. I looked forward to harvest every year but now a mini x is relaxing feels like its part of me when I am running it
I love running my Yanmar Vio35-6A mini excavator. I dig it. Lol. The S185 skid steer beats me up and gets me dusty. The 426 cat backhoe is fun to run using the loader to move bunches of piled dirt but, again, I have to say the mini is King for me. I love digging, going places no other equipment can climb, grabbing stuff with the thumb, showing off what it can do. I live in a town of 2500, had my machine a couple years now, and since I got my machine and people have been talking and seeing what I can do with it and how amazingly versatile it is, there has been 4 more minis show up, ranging from the city getting a couple for municipal utility work and cemetery use, and a couple others guys getting them for there operations.

I was the crew lead for the excavation team at a fiberglass pool company. Absolutely loved the two skids I frequently towed along. One was an older bobcat, wheeled, but it was like a mini skid. Like imagine a skid with a full cab but it was the size of a dingo. Couldn't find a newer version, but it was nice because I could drive straight through a 3.5' gate without having to take the fence down and being so small the thing was a blast to rip around our storage property. The other skid was a Takeuchi Tl12v2. Complete opposite end of the spectrum. Thing was the largest skid we could get, still relatively compact even compared to the 18000 lb mini-ex. But this beast would cleara a dump trucks/ 20 tons worth of material in a few minutes with a fully sealed cab, a/c, bluetooth, enough roof to fit another person in the cab with me and my feet up.
Ok the Volvo 150/180 loader is the best for loading lorries at the quarry, next a dozer with a pat blade your the boss in that kit 👍 finally a cat drot with that grab clamb it’s awesome for clearing up, oh forgot the long reach 360 👍👏👏👏, the most one that will bite you back is the drot particularly on a rubbish tip when covering with frag 🤤
Operating just about any equipment is the highlight of my day. I was raised on a farm running tractors and combines, dozers and backhoes so it also feels natural, like I’m right where I’m supposed to be.

I never ran heavy equipment, I have used a lawn mower, weedwacker, jigsaw… and I love doing it. That’s why I’m planning to now also start my own lawn care business and maybe I’ll eventually get to run a mini excavator or a lawn tractor 😅
The most satisfying equipment I’ve operated has been a kubota sv95 skid steer with a fae mulching head. There was nothing more relaxing then driving into full brush and cutting everything in its past. To be able to see a full over grown field that is now all nice and clean and into wood chips is so satisfying.

Years ago when I worked on a dairy farm, I killed it on the skid loader. I was cleaning barns every day with it. I prefer the joystick controls rather than the foot pedals for the bucket, but I've used both types a lot. Haven't run one in years though. I think the skid loaders are fun because they are so small and maneuverable, yet also very capable.
Hell yeah, and my favorite piece of equipment to run is all the ones with tires, tracks, drums! I love all equipment except for anything asphalt related 😂.
I love running equipment, especially skidsteers as it reminds me of when I was 8 scooping manure out with one (even if I dumped some one myself once lol)
I love the combination because the large bucket in front that stabilizes the unit anniversary towel bucket in the back that could be change over to hydraulics for a jackhammer
I think it’s relaxing, even though I don’t have much equipment operation under my belt. I’m mainly a truck driver. But it’s all relaxing in my opinion.
I’m a dirt road worker I came with no experience started off with a roller ,scraper ,loader , skid and dozer Ive been there 7 months n gotta say I wish I did that his sooner my favorite job by far n I wanted to b in automotive
I remember the first time I ran one of those joystick Cats, I was hauling debris to the dumpster and I was backing away from it, off a curb and into a street watching carefully behind me, and then I noticed I was feeling really tippy coming off the curb... Then I realized that I was habitually pulling both sticks back while backing up, and so my bucket was all the way up as the wheels came down the curb! Lol It took a little time to stop making that mistake, but I much prefer the joystick style to the foot controls, probably because I have short legs and most bobcat seats are rusted in the full rear position. One bobcat that I really hated had regular twin sticks for driving, and then the hand grips on the ends had a swivel on them, and so you ran the bucket raise and curl by twisting your wrists sideways, and it was really easy to move the bucket when you were driving, and hurt my wrists after a while. That Bobcat was a super short wheelbase one and had no weight on either end, so if you tried to put the bucket down to cut, it would just lift the front wheels up and actually bounce the bucket off the ground when you went to drive forward, so in order to like scrape mud off a concrete slab, you had to stop, get your bucket positioned, and then VERY GENTLY get creeping forward, super smooth or it would pop a wheely and lift the bucket up and you would have to back up and try again. And if you tried turning, it would start hopping and bouncing all over the place. It hurt to drive it. If I had used it much more I probably would have welded some extra weight on the front and rear lol
My landscaper, loaned me his mini excavator and skid loader, I had so much fun, tearing out my yard and using the skid bucket as a garbage can. Makes life easier when you don’t have a good back.

I love my loader i operated at work! Cat loader 926m Definitely. I'm in my zone when i'm operating the equipment. It almost feels like an extension of my arms.
It’s my job, I used to like it. Now people just annoy me and come and ask me to do shit for them (dumb shit mind you) when I’m working on my own thing, like there’s only so many six pack favors I can do in a day
24 ton komatsu excavator, 10 hours a day . Its when i do all my thinking, fone calls and listen to my favourite talk back radio programs and music. Relaxing , yes sometimes its hard to stay awake after lunch.
I only operate a skidsteer these days and time drifts away. I used to operate an old cable drive backhoe. It wasn't all that relaxing because you really had to work, but the time still drifted away.
I have 2 skid steers. My favorite is work similar to what your doing here. Not just running it but running it with absolutely no else around so I can just work for hours in my own little world in the cab of that machine. Not having to constantly throttle down so people can try to tell me something over the machine..
I have operated dozers, excavators, skid steers over the years. Generally whether or not I enjoy it depends on the job. For digging or clearing , the excavator, for grading and pushing, the dozer. For loading/unloading debris removal, hole drilling, brush mowing it is the skid steer always.
I used to love operating a vibrating roller. It had mirrors and it was totally enclosed which allowed me to have A/C. 😊. The water truck was fun as well but NOTHING topped the off-road dump trucks!
i have fun running a skidsters when there not broke down everything we get is from untied rental and dont run verry long and also i have funn runing our loaders also when they are not down lol inrun cat 20ton volvo 30ton case 731f kamastu 25ton and doosan 50ton all verry fun easy to run.
I'm from the land of BobKittys - loved them growing up and would love to own a 70-75hp tracked skid now. However, I'll rent one every other year when I really need it. That's a nice CAT...
I’ve used many I used one the the left side I for turning etc then the right side is for the bucket . Then another that you have to push both down to go forward and pull back to go in reverse and then the right side is for tilting the bucket and the left side if you push left or right it’s to raise . Then the last one is the one you use you feet left foot controls the arm going up or down right side for tilting the bucket and then the handles just for going forward back and turns .
Yes! Using machinery is like a special type of therapy that not many people know about
Totally agree

Something about the humming and subtle whine from the motor/hydraulics and the sounds of material in the bucket... therapy.

Relaxing , yes sometimes its hard to stay awake after lunch.
very cool!
As you get older, it's true that it's hard to stay awake.
Absolutely agree. I love using excavator with engcon❤
Its so relaxing especially when im in a backhoe loader
Love skidzers n dolly mowers...I just use them sometimes for nothing other than the smells of diesel n metal pushing the world out 💪🏾
Nice!
Absolutely Peaceful and relaxing... I Love Operatimg the Cat OR Kubota Skid Steer
Driving are Cat skid steer is what I enjoy most to
The outside world goes away when I climb into my grader....love it!!
💯
Excavator, the most satisfying machine ever,i look forward to operating my machine everyday 😎👍🏿💯
👍👍
I only operate a skidsteer these days and time drifts away. I used to operate an old cable drive backhoe. It wasn't all that relaxing because you really had to work, but the time still drifted away.
Nice
I have 2 skid steers. My favorite is work similar to what your doing here. Not just running it but running it with absolutely no else around so I can just work for hours in my own little world in the cab of that machine. Not having to constantly throttle down so people can try to tell me something over the machine..
Totally agree
I have operated dozers, excavators, skid steers over the years. Generally whether or not I enjoy it depends on the job. For digging or clearing , the excavator, for grading and pushing, the dozer. For loading/unloading debris removal, hole drilling, brush mowing it is the skid steer always.
I used to love operating a vibrating roller. It had mirrors and it was totally enclosed which allowed me to have A/C. 😊. The water truck was fun as well but NOTHING topped the off-road dump trucks!
Nice

I operate a hitachi Z310 wheel loader sometimes and I love it , Also work actively on a RORH RS6 dredge

I don’t run equipment, but man I sure wish I did. So relaxing and fun
You should!
I'm from the land of BobKittys - loved them growing up and would love to own a 70-75hp tracked skid now. However, I'll rent one every other year when I really need it. That's a nice CAT...
👍
I love it !!

Hell yea excavator i love it. I really enjoy operating any piece of equip. Its like a video game for me. I feel like a kid again😂😂
Very true! I can relate
Very cool...thank you.
👍😊
Absolutely, running the john deere is therapy!
Not all skid steers have hand controls, but they are the nicest one’s to run, but my favorite is the John Deere 60g excavator that I run every day.
Excavators are fun!
