My costochondritis was caused by sleeping on my side. Try switching to sleeping on your back to take pressure off your ribs and sternum.

Pain in middle upper left side, was treated for a suspected stroke. Costo diagnosed, appeared after a bad bout of Covid 8 months ago. Nightmare. No advice given by hospital or gp, had to ask. Keeps me awake regularly. Drs dislike us googling for medical advice but sometimes it’s the only choice people have so thanks Utube for helping us out! UK 🇬🇧 here.

I've had this for about 8 years. Caused by an injury during security training. Torn cartilage in my ribs. It can be very uncomfortable. Doctors don't seem to take it very seriously or have any idea of how to treat it.

Actually I found out the most important during a rib flare or costochondritis which I am experiencing since last weekend is to use the palm to push back and hold the ribs while coughing or changing position in bed while sleeping. This brings immense relief while waiting for the ribs and muscles to repair.

Treatment is key when costco will not go away. A good therapist with time can help free up tight back muscles and raised rib hinges.Sometimes you may need a good therapist to dig into the affected ribs where muscles adhesions may have formed. Personally l found physio exercises made my symptoms worse not better.

Hah! I don't know if I have this or not but I did see a doctor who was like, "meh". And I suspect it's "meh" because I have severe osteoporosis, have lost three inches already (age 62,) I do hair, so I have repetitive motion and I'm hunched. I did trigger this by attempting to run (again). I felt good thought "who knows?" 99% sure I also fractured a vertebrae, x-ray didn't see it but I know how they feel, same general area, just backside. I can say assuredly, I can deal with fracture pain far better than the pain of feeling that my rib cage us actually sinking into my abdomen (fact) whilst being squeezed in a vice and then, periodically, spasm-ing. Written off because, what can they do? Seriously, the attitude toward me is either,"she's a goner anyway," or "quit being such a baby." All this is in addition to mild scoliosis, either sacral instability or fractures or both, multiple other fractures. I'm sure it could be worse: what's scary is knowing it most likely WILL get worse, and I have decades, unfortunately, to endure it.

I’ve been diagnosed with this four months ago and it is still painful.
None of the causes mentioned in this video are a cause in my case, so I’m baffled as to how it’s come about.
It feels like prime Mike Tyson landed a hook and cracked my ribs.
I’m on strong pain killers and ibuprofen but they don’t touch this level of pain.
Heat and cold packs haven’t helped either!

I used to bench press and worked on chest muscles. After not working out anymore, my chest shrank and tightened, so I felt the urge to crack my chest(to relieve it) like cracking my knuckles. A piece of cartilage broke off one afternoon as I got up from a nap. I thought it was heart related, thankfully I had it checked out and test result were negative. A lot of symptoms seems to suggest I’m experiencing costochondritis. Tight pressure at the centre of my chest. Feels like my chest is being squeezed. Funny that she mentioned working in the warehouse cause that’s what I’ve been doing for the last 20 years.

I went to the ER 3 times. First time i went for SOB, high palpitations and chest pressure. I was diagnosed with chest congestion. Second time around they diagnosed me with bronchitis due to the bad cough i ended up getting with phlegm for a whole month. Last time i went to the ER it was due to POST bronchitis lingering symptoms that later on had chest tightness/sore, rib cage pain (RT side) and RT shoulder blade pain. I fell off a jetski and inhaled a lot of water. Wondering if maybe that can be the cause of me having costochondritis? X-rays came out normal including EKG.
