Chin was probably the best boss, he hated everything John stood for because he killed a boss and was bringing too much heat onto the families with how much of a showman he was, chin was the complete opposite.
Chin knew how to play the system… very clever man/boss
@@trevorbah1957 exactly, Chin had the authorities on strings for years
funny because he tried to kill a boss earlier in his life when he tried to kill Frank Costello
Chin tried to kill a boss himself....to bad he had terrible aim and couldn't pull it off but he did try so
@@derrmann1800 That attempted hit catapulted Chin's Cosa Nostra career. In the comments of Sammy's last video a lot of people talked about how long Nino Gaggi held a grudge over a fight. Vito Genovese held a grudge for more than 20 years because Costello checked him when Genovese was talking down Meyer Lansky and Ben Siegel and saying how Italians shouldn't be working with Jewish gangsters. Costello told Genovese in front of Lucky Luciano to cool it, he was an immigrant and no better than them. Genovese never got over that.
Who else loves that deep breath out? You know something heavy is inbound!
It makes me wish I was looking him in the eyes when he does that.
I always feel a bit disrespectful that that kind of emotion comes across through my phone, and there's no way to show my respect for it.

Gonna suck when he finally runs out of good stories to tell. I've always had a strong resentment towards people that freely choose a certain type of lifestyle, then tell on others to avoid the consequences when it finally catches up to them. It's just he tells the stories so good and he seems truthful about things. Hard to dislike him.
But then the magic stops, life is cruel. What go's around comes around and thats everybody.

What do u think about HBO Movie Gotti 1996 Sammy?
Sammy G was the Underboss to the Gambino family, in that commanding role for quite some time. His stories are accurate and insightful and it is a gift to be here to hear them from someone who has no reason to distort anything. It adds to the authenticity of everything. In All Fairness, the Mafia has nothing on the IRS lol
He does distort some things to make himself look better though.
He's subtly trying to rewrite Mafia history and put himself in the center of it as a hero.

Preface: The laws may have been different at the time.
By law, the FBI MUST act upon any credible threat of murder they receive on U.S. soil regardless who the target or offender is.
They knew damn well the threat was credible. It is why they told him. This was not their first song and dance.
Our "government" is a real self centered, infantile asshole most of the time. I mean, shit would have been VERY different if it were one of their lives being threatened.
Yeah, but they knew “Sonny Black” was marked for dead, and they did nothing. It was probably a different team that rescued “Lefty” Ruggiero.

I know chin didn’t like John for the unsanctioned hit on big Paul. But didn’t chin do the exact same thing to Frank Costello by order Vito Genovise, kinda hypocritical don’t you think😎
So what, he’s a hypocrite??? He’s the boss, understand? He’s the Boss….
-- Gotti circa 1996
@SILVERBACK SAVAGE well using that logic Vito was just as bad wanting to be the boss of bosses made everyone go to upstate ny to that meeting and getting over half of them arrested John never did any thing that stupid.
Good question
Chin was under orders though.
He tried to do the same to Costello but totally fucked it up ...from that range in that hallway tells me that at that time he wasn't the most proficient killer...but Frank took the hint and retired whilst the chin went on the run and lost a shit load of weight cos there were witnesses but Costello was an old skool gangster cos he took the stand and said that chin wasn't the man that shot him...how things have changed ...they'd drop a dime on him in a breath these days
Having the Chin on your bad side was a 1 way ticket to a dirt nap. Say what you will about chin he was a boss of bosses. Stone cold killer. My favorite Chin quote is “ we don’t break our captains we kill em”

Those were the two most powerful families in the US at the time, a full-scale war would mean mutually assured destruction, regardless of who were the leaders, although I agree that Gigante was a better boss than Gotti.

Once John did that dumb move (killing the boss of a family) the rest of the families were against the Gambino's. It was open season on the entire family. See how fast the first underboss was killed? Blew him up in that car in front of the club. They are lucky that the Feds picked most of them up for drugs and other things because they would've destroyed the Gambino family.
Sammy can we get the Neil Dellacroce / Tony Plate story?

Tell us some stories about tommy desimeone and Jimmy Burke
Sammy isn't going to have any. Those guys were Lucchesses, while Sammy was a Colombo in 60s-70s, and a Gambino from 1974 on. Very few people will have any Tommy DeSimone stories because he was so young, and was killed after only being on the streets for a few years. Tommy DeSimone didn't really make an impression or leave a mark on the streets. He was a young, wreckless psychopath who got killed shortly into his mob career because he was a homicidal maniac who couldn't take orders or show respect to his elders on the streets. Sammy probably never even met him because he was so small time while Sammy was already moving up the ladder.
He may have a story or two about Jimmy Burke but I wouldn't count on it. Jimmy Burke didn't have the juice on the streets for other families to use. He was exclusive to the Lucchesse family. The Irish crew that Sammy used and dealt with were the Westies. Other families aren't going to be fighting over the services of someone like Jimmy Burke because he wasn't Italian, therefore he had no standing among the other Five Families.
The movie Goodfellas vastly exaggerated Jimmy Burke's, Tommy DeSimone's, and even Henry Hill's role in the NY mob. The only true player from that movie is Paulie Vario. Paul Vario was a legit captain that other families knew and respected. The other three guys really weren't important enough for the other families to care about or remember.
@@Britton_Thompson eh I don’t know about all this. It’s widely known that Burke worked with Gotti and his crew. They both robbed JFK together. All these families worked closely with each other also, it’s not as you say it is......that each family keeps to themselves. Billy Batts was a Gambino solder and was killed because he wanted his gambling rackets back after getting out of Jail. Burke didn’t want to give them back.
Yea, sorry.......but a lot of what you just said was incorrect.
@brittain Thompson i knew goodfellas was far fetched when it came to several characters but Jimmy Burke was defo a main player in the mafia he was an earner for vario and I knew tommy died at 24 but surely there is still some stories out there of what he had done whilst alive, most the stuff you explained i already know and some of it is not accurate although I do appreciate the reply from you and @dan
