Leslie: In 1947, Sweetums was chosen as the Sugar manufacturer for the Marshall plan. They decided to expand their operations by moving their factory across the Pawnee River, over to the Red Reeds Fields. It created thousands of jobs for Pawnee and happy smiles were all around! …Except for the Wamapoke people who previously owned the land. They refused to leave until the people decided to “smoke out” the suspected “Commie Indians.” …The following great fire is now known as the [The Great Indian Fire of 1947]. (Camera zooms out to reveal huge mural with images of Native Americans dressed in Russian clothing, burning down buildings and destroying machines while helpless citizens cry, cower, or run for help. Camera zooms back to Leslie accusingly.) …The Wamapoke won against Sweetums lobbyist division and this whole mural, thankfully, will be removed during the renovation of the third floor. …The town history textbooks, that’s another trial and lawsuit that’s gonna take more time. (Stares deadpan at the camera) A lot more.
I’m not one to point out continuity errors or anything like that but I love how the show established Nick Newport Jr and then completely dropped him in favor of Bobby Newport. Which honestly was a good choice because come on it’s Bobby Newport we’re talking about
I like thinking that Pawnee citizens, including the main cast, are all extra insane and stupid because of Sweetums, like that one documentary that Leslie tried to use to explain how awful the company was. They literally turned the entire population into easily led, easily agreeable, and extra fat cattle.
Between the companies and the actual people of Pawnee its amazing that the town hasn’t been burnt to the ground at some point
For real though 🤣 They’re lucky to have lasted all these years

I mean, they kind of did with the bread factory
Pawnee is simply a metaphor for Hollywood.

I love that Leslie is so Pawnee that she can't help but love Sweetums and Paunch Burger even as she hates them.

I think it's just his brother. Nick was a spokesman for ads, the other was a pawn for the company to win the election.

The scene where sweetums is gonna replace the drinking water reminds me of idocracy. Electrolytes, it's what plants crave.
