It makes me wonder how her father talked to her about networking. Not that she doesn't really know better as an adult, but if her father constantly emphasized how a career and "making it" in Hollywood was dependent on who you know and how you can extend your contacts, that would influence how she sees people in general. Like they're just stepping stones. That's how she's treated everyone in her life so far. (Not that she's going to change at this stage.) Dumping people when they're no longer any use to her is normal and accepted. The purpose of a baby shower is supposed to be to help the mother get all the stuff she needs when a baby is imminent which can be an expensive time. This is why until recently you generally would only have a shower for a first baby but not for any following children. It was supposed you already had everything you would need for the next baby.

Sadly, Ed allowed his personal desire for fame, by association, to overtake the importance of Vogue's position in the marketplace. I questioned his appointment in the first place. Baby gifts before the baby is born is considered bad luck in the UK. I had a work friends throw me a surprise 'baby shower' at a lovely tearoom. We had afternoon tea with cakes, little sandwiches, scones and tea. Some of my work friends brought wrapped gifts but I didn't open them until after my baby was born and we were back home. It was a lovely afternoon of having a chat and playing silly 'guess the baby name' and some other little games. It was honestly one of the sweetest things my friends have ever done

That baby shower……how did she get a baby shower with celebrities when she had hardly had time to make friends in USA? I think she had people organise it for her and after listening to you it is obvious….stunningly obvious but I don’t move in those circles. So I guess it was to impress us in the UK and in my case it did. I feel stupid now that I know much more about her. All part of the plan to be world famous in a Hollywood gorgeous icon glamorous kind of a way. If you're a member of the Royal family receiving gifts is not done & if gifts for children & adults are given they are donated to an appropriate charity. Meghan didn't like this & was always soliciting free designer clothing, etc & trying not to be found out. For example the diamond waterfall earrings given to her by a controversal middle eastern businessman. I don’t think anyone in the RF have ‘baby showers’. It seems popular in the UK now but it’s a very recent introduction, like Halloween. I’m not sure if I would want to celebrate a baby until it was actually born. My family just have ‘family and friends’ parties. Otherwise a religious ceremony like a Christening is normal in the UK. I’m not sure how other religions celebrate a new baby in the UK.
If Meghan paid for any of it then the money came from Prince Charles at that time. He paid their allowance from the duchy of Cornwall. She still had royal protection with her as well so that would have been public funds. She lost me has a fan after the baby shower, it was just to show off wealth for the sake of it.

I’ve hosted a couple of baby shower and one was at my home and the other was at our church. Most of the decorations were Pinterest projects so the most expensive thing we had was a bakery cake. There was no hotel $15k a day hotel suite, no private planes, no publicist, just a bunch of mommy’s showering our loved one with gifts and advice and laughter. This chic is so transparent

We don't do baby showers in Europe. One of my friends was invited to one by some Americans, and she found it both impolite and unheard of that she was demanded to bring a present, because we just don't do that. However, like you said, if it had been somebody needy, I find it a really good idea, if we just could get over that "demanding a present" thing. And as a royal, knowing that her baby would get everything and more, it was totally ridiculous.
Its just gross in so many ways. Im a Kiwi of blended cultures, but baby showers are not common practice here. They are usually only put on for expecting mothers very close to birth to provide her with everything helpful that the mother will use. Definitely cringe to put financial burdens on friends if a mother to be is loaded. I personally do not believe she was pregnant and gave birth. Baby gifts before the baby is born is considered bad luck in the UK. I had a work friends throw me a surprise 'baby shower' at a lovely tearoom. We had afternoon tea with cakes, little sandwiches, scones and tea. Some of my work friends brought wrapped gifts but I didn't open them until after my baby was born and we were back home. It was a lovely afternoon of having a chat and playing silly 'guess the baby name' and some other little games. It was honestly one of the sweetest things my friends have ever done

That baby shower……how did she get a baby shower with celebrities when she had hardly had time to make friends in USA? I think she had people organise it for her and after listening to you it is obvious….stunningly obvious but I don’t move in those circles. So I guess it was to impress us in the UK and in my case it did. I feel stupid now that I know much more about her. All part of the plan to be world famous in a Hollywood gorgeous icon glamorous kind of a way. I was looking at her toothy gawky picture of her as a child with corkscrew hair and I can see why she would spend every penny she can lay her hands on at any cost. When I was pregnant I never rubbed my belly like it was a basketball and I was ready to make a throw. I always rubbed my tummy like I was comforting my child inside. The way she lays her hands on her belly makes it seem like it’s a prop and she’s trying to bring attention to her belly not comforting your growing child, with its kicks and rolls.

Baby showers are an American import. I’ve only been to one baby shower here in the UK. Baby gifts are usually given once you’ve had your baby. Gifts given to royal children (outside of family) are regifted to charities.

If you're a member of the Royal family receiving gifts is not done & if gifts for children & adults are given they are donated to an appropriate charity. Meghan didn't like this & was always soliciting free designer clothing, etc & trying not to be found out. For example the diamond waterfall earrings given to her by a controversal middle eastern businessman. This would normally go to the Royal collection & vaulted, if not accepted at all, but Meghan took them and was deceptive about their provenance.

I’ve hosted a couple of baby shower and one was at my home and the other was at our church. Most of the decorations were Pinterest projects so the most expensive thing we had was a bakery cake. There was no hotel $15k a day hotel suite, no private planes, no publicist, just a bunch of mommy’s showering our loved one with gifts and advice and laughter. This chic is so transparent

We don't do baby showers in Europe. One of my friends was invited to one by some Americans, and she found it both impolite and unheard of that she was demanded to bring a present, because we just don't do that. However, like you said, if it had been somebody needy, I find it a really good idea, if we just could get over that "demanding a present" thing. And as a royal, knowing that her baby would get everything and more, it was totally ridiculous.

Its just gross in so many ways. Im a Kiwi of blended cultures, but baby showers are not common practice here. They are usually only put on for expecting mothers very close to birth to provide her with everything helpful that the mother will use. Definitely cringe to put financial burdens on friends if a mother to be is loaded.
