The developers said they were more focused on the "Ghost" part of Ghost of Tsushima so they went with a new Ghost (this character) set couple years after Ghost of Tsushima. I'm sure Jin will be mentioned in this game no doubt.
The protagonist's name is Atsu. He reveals that Atsu's journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Our story takes place in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, a region of Japan known today as Hokkaido. By 1603, this region was outside of Japan's rule and filled with sprawling grasslands, snow-covered tundras, and unexpected dangers. This is a far cry from the organized samurai clans that lived in Tsushima
