As a lover of French Bulldogs and having Had a beautiful Frenchie myself I can't get my head around breeding for colour or looks ! surely the last thing the French Bulldog needs is a Furry Coat as they suffer breathing and overheating problems. But as long as they match the latest designer handbag or until the owner finds the next designer dog who cares.
Jay, I love your page, but Fluffy's were made by crossing another breed of dog and weeding out the less Frenchie looking offspring and working back towards the Frenchie standard but keeping the long-haired variety. This is the same way the exotic colors came about. None of the dogs that made up the Original French Bulldog had long hair...unless you count the original wolf.
They still yet look/appear to be 100%/percent French Bulldogs, but/except with more fur! 😎 Wired-haird Dachshunds are a different story, as they have smaller, shorter ears, more wiry coats, plus being crossed/mixed with terriers. Actually, the LONG-ER hair on Fuzzy Frenchies is also due to DOMINANT genes, rather than the RECESSIVE DNA.

Now the market is flooded
