This nice radio has an incredible secret, you can listen VHF and UHF, including air band. Try this: first choose a OM frequency, for example 1225 KHz, press and hold REC (you must have a memory card inserted), when it start recording press FM / AM and MODE keys. That's all, now it tunes 122.50 MHz. It works by tuning SW as well, the frequency in KHz goes to VHF or UHF. Enjoy!
Not worth the price sw is junk on this radio. The chip set is a cheap China set up. About the only thing it has going is a cheap recorder. Even then buy Sony at walmart. Antenna is junk to. It pulls apart easy and is cheap. You do get a 15.00 cell phone battery.
My first shortwave radio, though I bought it when it was still called the Tivdio V-115. Nifty device, I was sold on the radio with its recording function. I use it to tune in to NHK World Radio and other SW stations from China and Taiwan. It would've been awesome if it had SSB (the reason why I bought a Tecsun PL-660), but at a cheap price, it's irresistible.
This is a nice radio, but: - lots of static in mw/sw. - sensitivity in mw/sw is quite poor. - not possible to change eq setting in fm Otherwise this is very nice: - excellent sound - records mp3's - very good fm - good battery life In summary, if you are a dx freak, forget about this radio. If you listen to fm, mp3 and if you are a casual am listener, go for it.
The Retekess V-115 is a nice AM/FM/SW & MP3 Player/Recorder indeed! The sound quality is way better than average! Recording through the line cord is an excellent way to get quality audio recordings! I highly recommend the purchase of the Retekess V-115!
I bought one of these from Aliexpress a little cheaper 2 years ago. For a MW DX'er it's quite poor for reception as is FM though the sound quality is amazing with surprisingly good bass, it's a bargain overall...
digitalmediafan .. There`s a Dreamsky radio on Amazon for $13.99 that has the best sound I`ve ever heard from a pocket radio. If you look for it it`s black with a white strip at the top with AM/FM POCKET RADIO written on it and Dreamsky written in white letters at the bottom. It`s only AM/FM but has great reception on both bands. I collect portable radios and this one impressed me! You can actually hear the bass tones from drums and guitars when listening to music and it`s LOUD too!
You didn't review the mp3 player of this radio. For those interested .. it takes a max 32 gig TF card (Micro SD) and it plays stereo thru the headphones (the FM radio is still mono) At first I thought it would not play random mp3s only the next in line .. or, if you know the number of the song, you can type in the number on the keypad and it will go to that song. I discovered by accident that it will play Random mp3s. In mp3 mode if you quick touch the MENU button it will cycle thru the available play modes. You can see the icon change on the top left of the screen next to the memory card icon.
Hi, I am a bit lost in the rabbit hole of all things radio. What would you recommend for lay person that wants a(budget) radio mainly for information for emergency situations such as power outage, war, natrual disasters?
hi, i bought v115 a few days ago. radio is good but when I put sd card screen says WAITING... 1 seconds than screen says CAN NOT FIND DEVICE. I used 2gb and 16gb sd cards. both of them is working on laptop and on my dslr camera. What can I do? please send me a solution
Hi Lewis. Thanks for the review. I had the Tivdio V-115 version of this receiver, really the same radio. About $20.00 shipped in the US Yes, it's good as a recorder, on the micro SD card. It was not too good with the MW or FM reception here on weaker stations.
I bought one and it arrived yesterday. I picked up a distant FM station KTFW 92.1 FM from Glen Rose, Texas and the station only had 25,000 watts and that station was coming in loud and clear. A great little radio.
I bought one of these radios online for about $A30 ..just got it and Im really pleased with the functions and its good quality. Thanks for your review I learned a couple of things from you mate. Im in Australia.
I bought the Tividio V-115 about a year ago. I found it that the display of the radio generated a huge amount of interference and blanked out everything but the strongest signals. OK for listening to local stations only.
At 3:35 into the review, you are able to manually tune the VFO in SW band using the arrow key. My radio will not allow this. The tune button jumps between memories rather than advancing up by 5kHz. Do you know how to change this setting? Thank you kindly for any response. Excellent video!!!
@@mpatrickthomas No I have not found out. I’ve had 3 of these radios for two years now. Not being able to tune the radio 5khz at a time makes it useless for shortwave. You can only “seek” or jump memories.
Recently bought Philips DL 167 on Amazon India. It plays FM very good, Sound is awesome however it fails terribly on MW and SW ! 20 years ago SW stations were in plenty and I am guessing it's not the radio but stations have stopped on SW. Still I expected local government stations to show up on MW which didn't so my next hope is on this one that you showed in your video. Let's see how it fares in MW and SW band. Let me get this and once I try will share the reception quality. Thanks for the review.
You did not cover enough the mp3 function, except for replaying a recorded show. I was curious if it displays mp3 tags, how it plays songs, if it shuffles, repeats, if it manages folders, that sort of thing.
watched a few reviews on this one, have one ordered! i also wish it had ssb and more sw bands, but i can always tune in with my Yaesu. for the line in, i assume the sound will come out of this radio since the output device will be muted, correct? Pete
Yep like that little radio. Mind you have to laugh at the mega bass sub thingy on the back . Shame they did not include a vfo tuning wheel which i prefer to buttons. Great video mate.
Hi Lewis. Can’t believe it, I actually ordered one of these last night on Wish! Just under £12 free delivery 🚚. It could take weeks to get here but seems worth waiting for. Thanks for the info. Regards. Eamonn.
Nice review again.Looks a nice little radio.shame you never showed what the shortwave was like. I have purchased one too but must stop watching your reviews as i sometimes order the items you are reviewing
The recording feature is useful by itself for capturing two-way radio traffic especially while mobile. Audio recording on a smart phone is fine but fiddly when you want to capture in a hurry.
@@RingwayManchester Appreciate that. Take care and please stay safe since I read today that now UK getting worst which death toll now the highest in Europe.

FM radio is not in full stereo when using headphones, just left and right channels in mono? Or is it just the 96 kbps recording that disabled the MPX?
