    Make the videos you love to make, the video will be a labour of love but if you feel forced, the video will feel forced...and nobody needs or wants that!

    Hi Gary, please keep on making content *you* like. Authenticity is scarce these days. Looking forward to the storage episodes coming in the future, no rush on my behalf. Cheers

    @Gary, it doesn't matter the kind of content that you do. We enjoy your way to approach things and how you solve problems. Me, I identify myself with your mindset, that's why I enjoy your videos. If one day, you decide to make a video about how to bake a chocolate cake, man, I'll watch with pleasure. Can you imagine? Gary's Kitchen? Cooking with Gary? Awesome. Keep up the good work, you and RoboNuggie are my inspirations for coming back to FreeBSD months ago. 👍

    Great video! I have been enjoying your videos quite a lot and because of these videos i know about FreeBSD and other BSDs. For me you will always be my main BSD/Linux UA-camr, but i really liked your windows video. ❤ I mean all of the mentioned Operating Systems have their advantages and preferred usecases. I have one suggestion how about you make a video about ventoy? 😊

    I believe FreeBSD needs a 'visual' community, this thing develops systems too. I like your channel and i am enjoying while watching your videos about freebsd. Time to time, these videos helps me to develop pieces on bsd.

    hi Gary, thanks for the explanation. I am an adminstrator and I Iike FreeBSD most. But I installed also Ubuntu, Debian, sometimes use Windows and help people with Apple. So, the other systems are not bad, but I have to say, that even these popular systems have many problems, not only *BSD. *BSD runs servers really stable - yeah!!! One thing I may mention from today: a web based software changed on Windows. I could log in from firefox on my FreeBSD PC, but the secretary had problems on her Windows PC and firefox... Cheers, Norbert

      My problem with Micro$oft and Crapple is the amount of bloated sh*t in their systems. Even some Linux distros are heavy as f*ck already. Unfortunately, there's things that I need in all these OSes, as I'm a solutions architect and a software engineer, it's part of my job to help and develop applications to deploy on them. Telemetry, then AI Copilot crap, now Windows Recall. It's only getting worse...

    • @ngtube9
      @ngtube9 3 місяці тому

      @@greenhorngameplays5743 yes, there are many things bloated on Windows, Apple and Linux... :-) But sometimes, you need also something else. But my main OS is *BSD :-)

    I've read that NetBSD still runs on pretty old hardware, but I've always wondered "how well does it work? Does it run snappy enough to be useful?" . I'm a Windows user and have only just started dabbling with Linux, hence have no idea how to even try NetBSD (let's say) on an Amiga. If you find this challenge interesting and have the time, I'd love to see an experience BSD user give it a go. Any hoots! I really enjoy your videos. Thank you!

    For those wondering, the unsubscribed button is a menu choice (not button) found under the subscribed button's menu. Or you can wait until youtube just unsubscribes you as it happens to do on this platform. For the rest of us, enjoy the niche channel's content in whatever forms it takes. Does this video mean we won't see Gary go to a hardware store and do more videos on Windows?

    IIRC you work in IT? So am I, and there's no escape from Windows if you need the business. For me personally, my house is a MS free zone. Both me and the wife runs OpenBSD on our desktops and our server is FreeBSD. But I also have some old Macs and one of them even runs MacOS. And my work laptop runs OpenSuse. And the TV-computer is a Mac Mini running Debian. Ok, sorry for the over share... What I should say is, that there isn't a problem. It's your channel. And we are all BSD-lovers. If anyone complains, it's probably an angry Linux fanboy who probably would be better off watching one of the million Linux UA-camrs instead. Me? Well UA-cam is mostly how I stay up to date on Windows these days so if there are any Windows content here I'm happy to watch it. If I were in charge, you would have to make two OpenBSD videos for every Windows video. But here's the thing; I'm not in charge. So keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

    You have to do you. No question. I'm not a huge Windows or Mac fan. So, I may skip watching those videos. That's my choice. If the mix wanders too far from Freebsd type content, I may even unsubscrible since I don't care to get too many notifications about content I have no interest in. So, it goes both ways. I like your channel as it stands now. So, I'll probably stick around a while longer.

    If I see Gary or another Gary like person putting up something Windows related, I think: if I ever have to deal with something like this on my wife's or daughter's computers I've seen it. Or, I might think: cool the choice to ditch Windows 1/4 of a century ago was fortuitous. Either way Gary is interesting to watch.

    You are totally right. If Linux or freeBSD had all in one system that has it all then most likely you probably would use one I am sure. I am the same way. I use Ubuntu Server for like wireguard and so on. I use Windows for the software that it delivers, and I use Android for quick check emails and so on. Linux is a good operating system but its not perfect. FreeBSD is the best for firewall, pfsense is based of FreeBSD and many IT pro's use pfsense. So the point is all systems are not perfect, I will say they are perfect in their areas of expertise. Windows for me is not for server, Linux is and Linux is not for firewall like freeBSD Is. You get the picture what I am trying to say.

    Can anyone help me with my audio problem on freebsd 14, using a laptop I don't have audio or microphone, when configuring the hint in the bootloader, I either have audio or microphone, never both together.
    this is my configuration
    @freeBSD:~ % dmesg | grep pcm
    pcm0: at nid 33 and 25 on hdaa0
    pcm1: at nid 4 on hdaa1
    hint.hdaa.0.nid33.config="as=0"
    hint.hdaa.0.nid25.config="as=4"
