2005, the end of an era in the NFL Last year of ABC MNF, ESPN SNF, only two Thanksgiving Games, and no more AstroTurf (all dome teams now have fieldturf)
@@Dud512 At least they opted to simulcast the Wildcard game on both ESPN and ABC. I always watch on ABC for the nostalgia. I'm also glad they simulcast an MNF game every now and then. I wish they did more.
Oakland played better than most expected but still an inevitabile outcome They have an absolutely brutal September schedule- Pats here, Chiefs next week, and at Philly
Patriots had more marquee games on the road (at PIT, DEN, KC, ATL, CAR) than at home They were not going to do a Colts rematch on opening Thursday night. Only other option would have been the Chargers and CBS wanted that
The Patriots quest for the NFL's first threepeat since the Lombardi Packers begins. However they now have two new Coordinators, an aging roster, and a brutal schedule.
Pats just keep on keeping on But New England has a ROUGH schedule on deck looming- at Carolina, at Pittsburgh, home for San Diego, at Falcons, at Broncos Their next easy game- October 30th vs post-Bledsoe Buffalo .

Last year of regular NFL Primetime too.
I miss MNF on ABC

2005 was also the last year of ABC Sports.
Last year of my key wheelhouse of 1979 to 2005. After that the sport just hasn't been as good in my mind.
This was such an interesting MNF scoreboard. Most people forget about it since it only lasted 1 season
Worst MNF scoreboard ever
This is it for ABC.
Randy Moss, welcome to the Raiders.
You’re already playing against the next team you’ll be on.
Such a beast. Should have went to a contender.
Why'd Randy Moss leave Minnesota in the first place?
@@californiaman4000 He was traded I think
@@californiaman4000 he didn't sign as a free agent. vikings traded him.
Life without Rich Gannon.
Well the Raiders got to enjoy life without him the past two seasons for the most part due to age and injuries

But at least they have Randy Moss this time, right?
@@JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly OAK was sneaky compeititive in most of their games from November onwards last year. They can't do any worse with Moss
@@chrisuncleahmad666yea no way they go winless in their division ! 😂
MNF hasn't been the same since ABC dropped it in favor of their little brother, ESPN.
How odd was it that the two-time defending champions were hosting a last place team from the year before to start the season, in primetime no less?
Why did they even choose the Raiders? When they could have chosen the Chargers, maybe Colts again, Jets based off their 2004 Season
Patriots had more marquee games on the road (at PIT, DEN, KC, ATL, CAR) than at home

They probably didn't want the Colts two straight years. It should have been the Chargers, but I guess the Randy Moss Raiders created more drama.
@@TB-vz8xg CBS wanted that SD game
I think it was because this was the first meeting between the 2 in Foxboro since the Tuck Rule game. That was the game that launched the dynasty.
At least this time there was no controversy in New England for the Raiders. They flat out loss.
but they put up a better fight than most expected
Randy Moss showing Oakland he’s going to be worth every asset and penny spent on him. Surely that continues……

It was not meant to be, no team will ever 3 peat SBs!

Not an instant classic Patriots primetime opened ala last year vs the Colts nor a blowout like September 2002 vs Pittsburgh
Still a decent game
It was more competitive than expected. Maybe the Raiders will get over the 2 yr slump with Moss in the mix.
Lamount Jordan sound like he was callin tha Pats Cheaters 😎😂😂😂✌✊
So does anyone think New England can win 3 straight SB’s?
Nope, no team will 😊
New England wasn't that sharp in 2005. 10-6 is fine, but after 2 straight years of going 14-2?
Injuries and a brutal schedule. That and the pressure of trying to threepeat
Their depth seems kinda weak for some reason

Post SB hangover! They went 16-0 only 2 years later.
