Aid doesn't equal to trade. Aid doesnt go to far economically. Look at Africa now after years of aid it destroyed their agricultural sector. It doesn't teach a man to fish. Aid teaches them to be lazy. Just like in Africa, China doesn't give a lot of aid but with trading.
I am happy that they have such a good relationship. The sad thing is that they are only friends because of shared traumata and not because of real interest in each other. I am from the EU so maybe I have a bias, but Serbia wants to join the EU, and the influence of China as a dictatorship which fuels corruption in Serbia won't help... I am sorry if I attacked someone with my opinion, pls let me know if there is something I am missing.
Unless Russia re-creates its border with Hungary, and both Serbia and Hungary will end up having direct access to BRICS. That may drastically shift the opinion about EU. The biggest reason why they would prefer to join EU is that Serbs have no available alternative whatsoever.
