@@chriscummings4206 Exactly. Which is why they're worth looking into as a fan, collector, or investor. Plus, all these Lego "rumor" videos popping up about the topic seem ignorant of the history of the license with other brands.
A UCS set of a Borg Cube with tons of tiny details would be pretty neat (although not aesthetically pleasing...) With modern construction techniques and colors, Cardassian Galor class would very easy to make too. As far as Enterprises go, I'd love a Refit Connie style one over the TNG one. Shuttles would be easy sets to make and sell with minifigs. And let's not forget Klingon and Romulan Bird of Preys and Warbirds. UCS Defiant and DS9 with a smaller Defiant as a playset as well as DS9 interior playsets. A Delta Flyer would be nice too, one of the Space line LEGO sets already kinda looks like it.
I just watched Max' video before seeing this one and he had some news: it'll be the Next Generation Enterprise, 9 Minifigs, 3600 pieces, black friday release
Bluebrixx had some problems selling the large "UCS" sets for years and therefore I'm not sure Lego is trying to grab a market that was already not working in Europe for Bluebrixx. And the license never was exclusive as the brand Playmobil offered large models and figures of the old Star Trek crew at the same time.
I have couple bluebrixx star trek sets they are amazing. Lego is lazy as hell and is way too overpriced these days. I am cautiously optimistic. The take on star trek minifigs is what I am curious about.
I found a different rumor online in the last couple days that said this set was the Enterprise-D and it would be a Black Friday 2025 set release. Maybe they're doing something else this summer also? It could be a fun year for Lego & Star Trek fans!
Why using older Star Trek series when you could also use new series as Strange New Worlds for Lego sets? Younger people are probably more familiar with Strange New World than with the series from 30 years ago.
I was one of those people that watched Star Trek TNG in 1987 and I even remember one of the morning talk shows having a discussion about it, and Entertainment Tonight, of course.😂 I watched some clips on UA-cam of Quark of DS9 and I did find the material to be entertaining, but I too missed out on DS9 and I remember fondly going to some of the local mall card collectible shows where they also have Star Trek & Star Wars collectibles, it was a great way to meet people in the community. That's where I heard all the rumors about The next Star Wars movies back in 1992-94 because they were better than what we got to a certain degree.😂 And did anybody mention Suncoast?
The Star Trek line would be at its absolute best by following the Star Wars Midi-Scale ships in size and price. People would rather have many high quality smaller ships than end after one oversized overpriced UCS style.
Great news but watch out for it to be very very expensive and big. Will most likely be over $200 but this will not stop collectors and investors from buying it up. I've been waiting for this for a long time but will most likely be priced out of this "first" one.
Here's the problem, everyone sees dollar signs when they see a massive IP of this caliber. It's gonna absolutely FLOOD the market and EVERYONE is gonna hoard these thinking they're gonna be millionaires, EBAY inflation is gonna be outrageous out the gate. This IP is gonna be ugly (marketing and resale, not physically) out the gate.
I agree, but it could be like Lord of the Rings and they start with the giant sets, test the interest and willingness to spend. If that is the case, not many people will risk the $500 tag. There will never be another old school Star Wars set, but there will be money makers. And, like Jim said, there are enough people that don't know how significant Star Trek is because it doesn't get the Disney amount of ads that Star Wars does
The market in general has gotten uglier and uglier, especially via eBay. I would strongly caution anyone thinking of getting into the game to really know the market, know how to run a business, be very patient, and then still hope to see returns big enough to make it worth while. Thanks to news articles and UA-cam channels about investing, the market if terribly flooded atm.
@@justplainolme01and then they come to these UA-cam channels, thinking they'll get some magical, secret investment info that'll make them rich, while the UA-camr racks up the views and counts the dollars. I think the bubble will probably burst reasonably soon, the way it does with so many collectibles.
Given the current state of Paramount I can imagine they would be willing to make an IP deal - the Enterprise under the ICONS line - the thing that keeps me think that there may not be a lot of investment/collectable is that there will be a LOT of any of these sets in circulation and LEGO set buyers will likely believe these will be valuable in short order. I'd buy just about any Star Trek sets but would likely not buy multiples - I'd build them and enjoy them.
I just don't think there will be a whole "playline", i.e. Minifig scale theme, Star Trek is centered around huge Starships that are dozens of floors in height and would translate poorly to minifig size. That would leave you with shuttles (which look more practical, like "space vans") and location sets for minifigs. Star Wars worked in Lego form because it's more centered around smaller ships that are more pleasing to the eye and minifigure scale friendly. So I think any Star Trek set that comes out will be a one off set, and the two most popular iterations of Trek are The Original Series, and The Next Generation. So I think we'll get either a 1701 Enterprise or a 1701-D Enterprise, with a set of minifigs to stand on the base. Personally I'm hoping for a "D" Enterprise as I think Lego has the curved pieces to pull off the shape, and also because I already have the Megabloks 1701 and it's a really awesome looking set. But those are just my thoughts, I just don't see a playline set or sets in the future.
@@IntergalacticDustBunny Probably more like a Dune one-off. I think it highly unlikely for many reasons that they'd make a full-on line, especially one with play features like Star Wars, which has always been the more child-friendly franchise. You're right about the Mega Enterprise, btw. I have it on display, and it's huge and really eye-catching! I really wish a company like Pantasy or Cobi would get the license. They'd probably serve fans better and offer the sets at way better prices, at least if it were Pantasy. Lego getting it would actually be a bummer: likely overpriced, filled with stickers, etc.
Lego doesn’t have the licensing rights. Also there probably isn’t as much excitement around Star Trek sets as there is for Star Wars, especially among young adults and children. I myself would buy them all if they did come out, but are there enough of us that Lego would make the kind of profits they are looking for.
Alright, listen up, slick. Your Star Trek list sucks. It lacks ingenuity, and functionality in Lego design methodology. Additionally, Deep Space Nine is the greatest Star Trek which contains some of the most bold stories, incredible arcs that span seasons, and most human component to storytelling. The villains of DS9 are real characters, not archetypes. So, pick up DS9, start at season 4 if you have to get past the silliness of the first couple seasons as they lived in TNG's shadow, and fix your list.
my pre-watch list: OG enterprise TNG enterprise DS9 Discovery Voyager My runner ups are Book's ship from disco (just cause it's cool, ig since the series is over it's not as likely) as well as protostar from prodigy as a youth tie in (it is lego after all)
8:15 a DS9 interior set would be amazing.
It'd consist of the promenade and Quark's Bar.
It'd probably be too big to produce as an actual set though.
The Defiant, as a playset at a scale that there's an interior for the minifigs, should be on the list and possibly before DS9 itself. Just my 2p.
No one mentioning Bluebrixx??
Made good Star Trek Sets. Big task for LEGO to do better.
Bluebrixx needs to step up their international game for me to bother.
I keep laughing when I see all the Lego channels talking about potential Trek sets when Mega and then BlueBrixx have had them coming out for years.
They no longer have the Star Trek license.
