I must be one of the few that actually enjoyed the game, insane plot and all.
CactuarKnight I really like the game. Every now and then I bust out the good ol’ PS2 and play this and time crisis 3.
I played it too. What i remembered it was good :)
No cactuars
This was the only game as a kid that made me cry rage quit
I loved this game even tho I was a kid so I may have been easily entertained. My favorite part of this game was the music. Once I hear that theme song it takes me back to much more simple times lol
This was one of my first PS2 games. Holds a special place in my heart.
Same here. Slept over at my cousins house, they just got the ps2, this was one of the games we rented. I'll always vividly remember it.
Me 2 man….me too
Me 3
Me too
Me too bro! I'm all thinking there's gonna be great reviews for it but people hated it lol
I actually like The Bouncer.
Fight me.
Gizmo Hibiki saame
me too
I like it too mucho
Nobody needs to fight you. The Bouncer's controls will fight you every step of the way
This is honestly the best game ever made on ps2
Hey, I LOOOOOVED the Bouncer as a kid. The fighting felt like you can feel the hits.
when you actually did land hits
I want that No Cactuars jacket in my life.
Sarah Mehh my next tat..... When I have money.... Life sucks.
fucking sameeeee! metal bits and all i dont give a shit, it looks awesome
So that means the 'Dog Steet' logo on Pence's shirt in kingdom hearts 2 is a reference to this game?!
mind blown
Yeah! Kingdom Hearts itself is a weird tribute to Square Enix/Square Soft Games. Ignore the Disney Characters and it's just another Enix Masterpiece
@WhiteFlagsFly YT that's disgusting
There are A LOT of references in Kingdom Hearts games to other Squaresoft and Square Enix games. No, I am not going to list them. I have life...but not enough of a life to know this.
@@AllDayDavis lol
now you have to do a worst protagonists video, you know that right?
Would Kane and Lynch be the same character, or take up two slots?
My vote for the worst goes to Lin from Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Oh boy, he's gonna trip when he gets to the Drakengard protagonists, especially the guy from the first game,
Leo Stenbeck in _Zone of the Enders 1_ was really annoying being an Amuro Rey with none of his redeeming traits though he did get his act together for the sequel.
good thing he doesn't do anime man...
it's a fucking head scatcher
Loved this game as a kid. Completed it 12 times unlocked every character as well as get them all to level S. Think I loved it coz I'd always play team battles with my bud. Survival mode was a blast too
Hey, I have fond memories playing this game. . .
Bradley Shepherd It's okay. We all have fond memories of playing shitty games.
As do i, i spent years trying to remember the name of this game because i was so desperate to play it again
@@keybladesrus How was this game shitty? you were probably shit at playing it.
@@Woter_X This was my childhood
I have fond memories of playing Megaman X7 but that doesnt make it a good game lol
A small little thing, but I found the animation in this game pretty amazing for a time where 3D fighting game animations can suck. They sell their motions much better than any Mortal Kombat game. Sion's backhand kick is beautiful and they all actually look like they know how to fight.
People don't appreciate good animation anymore. Bad ones still exist, trust me. They're just covered by the graphics.
Wise words.
i actually 100% this game... I was a troubled child in middle school
SodiusChubz 塩の嵐 I wasn't I'm just an extreme introvert.
It was a great game! I still remember buying it again like 5 years later and it was still good. This video made valid points, but the bouncer was great imo
This video lasted as long as a single playthrough.
Blitz Dreadnought yeah it was ridiculously short
You Were Meant to play through multiple times and I know this because I did and the story changes depending on who you play as not only that but there are a lot of fights in one playthrough that you could possibly have in another
Jonathan Mckiddy Yes, that’s mentioned in the video
I watched this video with the full intent to shit on it because I remember loving the Bouncer when I was younger but none of your points can be refuted.
I think a big problem with the game was that, at it's heart, it was supposed to have been a fighting game and the story mode was just meant to unlock the characters. It gets judged by the single player mode which was lackluster and, in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't have measured up as a fighting game either.
Merlot Williams I spent hours and hours on this game I actually Loved it and wished square Enix would at least use the characters for an Easter egg or random callback. Story wasn’t all that bad imo just the payoff is lackluster and the villains plot is super contrived
Al P Oh, for sure. I still love the game to this day and I still remember that you have to beat the game 7 times to unlock all the characters. I liked The Walking Dead Survival Instinct as well and that game was trash. Too many people don't realize that something doesn't have to be prefect for you to like it.
Yeah i like some games that other people dont like and other way around there are some popular games that i don't like. It just has to do with preference.
Al P Pence in KH wears a dog street shirt. Can't think of anything else in Sqaure titles
Merlot Williams yeah I loved this game as a kid...... Even though I didn't understand the story at the time.
The Bouncer is not the worst Squaresoft game. Not even close.
Not even the worst PS2 Squaresoft game.
That title probably goes to Driving Emotion Type-S for PS2.
Holy crap the physics in that game...
The Bouncer is a good game..
Change my mind.
Nostalgia
Why bother?
You're entitled to your opinion. If you like it so much, why not upload a playthrough of it?
Childhood bias
I loved this game as a kid. And I still enjoy playing it nowadays when I'm in the mood.
And it honestly blows my mind how no one realizes Sora is just Sion redesigned. XD
I love this game! It has never left my top 5 games of all times list. Love the characters, music, RPG style leveling system and That circular uppercut the Kou had is my favorite move in any game!
Imagine how badass a cinematic brawler with RPG elements about a bouncer at a bar would be!
It’d be like Roadhouse meets the Yakuza games!
No matter how many times I see this, "These are rolled up to his knees!" gets me every single time.
2019 called and wants you to meet the Quiet Man.
That feel when you realize that The Quiet Man is actually a spiritual successor (mechanically) to the Bouncer, and both are made by square
I never thought about that, but it makes SOOO much sense...
I loved this game, and I didn't actually know about it until kh was already a thing. I especially liked playing the versus mode with my friend.
Now if only there had been co-op in the story mode...
Just play God Hand
God hand is a complete different experience. Multiplayer ragdoll physics
@@Monado6 beat down fist of vengeance?
YOURE NOT ALEXANDER. God Hand is God tier.
6:13 if Sora borrowed Trippie Redd's chain and became a Soundcloud rapper
That grandpa Austin Eruption skit was fucking hilarious!
Avarice Swag Mimic He said "shut up i'm gonna kick yer azz!" XD
Not really my first of his video a definitely last generic wannabe geek complete with the generic 2 tone hair and tool beard.
I'm pretty sure the Gran Turismo clone Square released on PS2 was worse than this. The Bouncer isn't that great, but the gameplay is relatively solid... when you get to play it.
E. L. The bouncer is great. They needed to make another
Driving Emotion Type S, right? That game was a retailed alpha version at best.
Which if you play the game's mulitplayer(which did have bots if you had no one to play with) is a lot.
that game handling is really bad
That's what I love about these high school androids, man. I keep gettin older, they stay the same age.
Space Harrier
Heheh, yes they do, yes they do.
Wait...you played through the game multiples (as is common for the game) but you don't understand why Mikado did what his intentions were? How did you not gather that?
Dauragon and Dominique were poor orphans turned away by the hospital they came to when Dominique was sick because they had no money and no one cared about them. She died of her illness, and so Mikado devoted his life to becoming someone rich that everyone else depended on. Then he made a robotic version of his sister because he missed her, and also used her as part of his cannon to just murder everyone, starting with the hospital that turned them away. He used the public's dependency on him and his technology against them.
Like, it's not the greatest motivation, but it's definitely there. Hell, I think you can get all that from the first playthrough of the game, even...
That's what i'm saying! And i was like 12 when i first plaid it.
The story was pretty simple. I think it takes 2 playthroughs to get the whole story because of some extra things you had to do in the game to unlock all the cutscenese of the story. Its basically a revenge story by an orphan.
Yeah, this guy had all of the most absolutely plebian responses to The Bouncer that mirrored why people didn't like it at the time it came out. Nothing really treats a game from the 90's or early 2000s quite as bad as it's initial, base value reception, and because of that a lot of fantastic video games have been buried by the tide of time. That is why I loathe a lot of the big name "game reviewers" of the day, they felt only the absolute most mainstream, superficially important games of the day were worth playing. People even sort of shat on Final Fantasy VIII at the time it came out. Austin didn't take an actually critical or introspective look at the game at all, he mirrored all the basic bitch gripes people had at the time it came out.
So, The Bouncer beat The Order 1886 at its own game?
The order 1886 wasn't squaresoft.
Ohh ok. I think metal gear solid 4 was the worse with that. Long cut scenes, short missions.
carlos rodriguez
MGS fans might still be sore about Konami. But its honestly true. MGS4 was a movie. I love the series and im sad about it. But damn it was a long trailer of every mission, to find out the mission is half of the scene.
redfoxbennaton the graphics were really good for Metal Gear Solid 4 and it was a really good game but i just wished the missions were longer and the cutscenes shorter.
Lol i honestly like both those things.
In defense of Volt Krueger’s excessive cuffed pants, he’s clearly wearing a kind of selvedge/raw denim which traditionally come in one inseam length; very long. They’re intended to be either tailored, or double/triple cuffed to show off the smooth patterned selvedge seam.
I have so much nostalgia for this game it's unreal. I know the gamw isi kinda trash but the OST is fucking great
Lilithan it's not trash. Not at all.
It's just short. His whole complaint is not having enough game time.
It's like calling Way of the Samurai trash. Ya don't do that lol. Idk about the ps4 version, but all others...no
Same composers did Racing Lagoon and Final Fantasy X-2. Great music
Austin: The Bouncer is the worst Square game ever.
The Quiet Man: Hold my beer.
The bouncer was a square soft game
and the quiet man was a square Enix game.
This comment was a fail
@@Woter_X They are still Square, though.
@@raccoonjs6437 not true. One is completely different from the other. Story telling wise and game play wise. Square soft was more "hungry" then Square Enix. Hungry as in, it was all about the game itself and how good they can make it. Enix is more on the "whatever, are name will carry the games success" line. Its like the wu tang clan in the 1990's vs wu now. the 90's they were hungry so they worked there asses off for better living situations. vs now there more relaxed from there success so they dont put as much effort in it like they use too.
@@Woter_X and i suppose you will argue that Square and Squaresoft are 2 different companies. So what if their work ethics have changed somewhat over the years, they are still the same company, just the name has changed.
Volt for Smash
Fuck that! Kou Leifou for Tekken 7!
Nah. How bout Sion for Smash?
Have you seen the Japanese culture that tries to emulate American in Japan? You get these variety of mixed styles in their effort to try to make it their own. Its actually common in the early 2000's, though to not that extent of the "super long pants".
Sion is only a few years older than Dominique. He is not a pedophile.
yea. I got this game for Christmas I think. anyhow., beat the game a few times. Replayed it periodically, for a year or so before I graduated. Went to Japan right out of bootcamp, that Iwent to immediately after graduation.
And sure enough, games like this captured the general young population of Japan at that time.
I loved the weird quirky looks. Being themselves and blending our styles was amazing.
Coming back to america, it was boring. I felt like there were only avery small amount of us that did this. blending of the world's culture.
UNtil this coming generation. I'm 34 now, and I see kids now dressing the way these games used to have their characters do. Or more accurately, how I saw Japan back in the very early 2ks
You actually took the words right out of my mouth when you labeled it "ambitious". It probably had to do with the PS2 affording them so many more possibilities in how they could tell a story that that was all they were interested in doing.
I come from the future.
Two words: Balan Wonderworld.
She took the crown of “Worst Square Game”
I still like it. I want a sequel or a remake/remaster. With more shit. I WANT IT NOW!
Me too!
Yeah this game was amazing to me like idk what’s really bad about it for the time it was amazing. Still a good play today imo
Same!
Ooooh!!! I'd love an HD Remaster of the game I loved to play. Where they rework the fighting sections, add more gameplay and fix the fluidity.
That grandpa part killed me. HIlarious
17:29 i hope u ain't implying that the cringie blonde guy with shit voice acting from ff crystal bearers i don't remember the name of , is a bad protagonist. I love that guy....for some reason...
While I will not refute any of the points you made in your video, I must express that this game actually holds an incredible amount of nostalgic value for me. This was actually the first PS2 game I ever played, and I remember being totally blown away by the graphical capabilities of the then brand new system, as well as enjoying the story and overall presentation. I was also playing it as a rental with a group of friends, which no doubt helped. Of course, we had also rented Onimusha at the same time, so playing that immediately after we pretty quickly forgot about The Bouncer and I never did play it again. Still, while it may be terribly flawed, it remains as probably the best-looking of all the PS2 launch titles, and being one of the few of that lineup, I'm sure there are many more people out there that were introduced to a whole new generation of gaming with this title. Good video man, brought back a lot of memories.
the worst ? it is a great game . a classic !! yeah its short and simple but its a fun game
MK.PRODUCTIONS sounds like he just sucked at
Well by Squaresoft standards it's probably the worst they had to offer.
This was a great game. I mean what can I say? Square loves their cinematics. I'd like a sequel to this some day
signas82 No, the game just sucked.
I absolutely loved this game (discovered by renting from blockbuster), and I still sucked at it.
This is a game I played constantly as a kid only to forget about for a decade then found myself wanting to check out again after years but not knowing anything about the game that I could even hope to try searching for. This video is a miracle to me.
21:35 How long did it take you to become a Final Fantasy character? And how much effort was it to pose like that in those clothes?
Not as hard/long as you think which is the sad part.
@@austineruption Phrasing!!
I'm impressed that in nearly 23 minutes, you didn't accidentally say the main characters name right even once.
This game along with Blood Will Tell were a couple of classic ps2 bangers that flew under the radar. Square definitely has made worse games than The Bouncer.
I wish you talked about the beautiful ragdoll physics in this game. I loved flipping a baddie in the air and watching them land doimg the splits
It's nice that Kou turns out to be a spy. Kou's casualness on the phone at the start didn't strike me as poor storytelling, it struck me as suspicious that he could be so casual in the midst of what's meant to be a kidnapping. I actually thought he was a spy for Mikado actually.
I don't see what the issue is with "underage girls" if he's around the same age. (He is, isn't he?)
He's 4 years older
I like the belts chains and zippers...
U got a weird fashion sense then bud lol
To be fair the bouncer wasn’t meant to be a real game. It was to test the power of the ps2 for literally the next two bangers square made: final fantasy 10 and kingdom hearts.
EsperAlex90 both were trash. Garbage test game became two higher budget garbage games.
@@sweet_sukeban4022 You can not judge a game to be garbage because you do not like it. It's in the eye of the general public. Say if the general public did dislike the bouncer, they did well with kingdom hearts. Very well.
@@aseeds7785 you probably weren't born when the bouncer released. I was in college and every publication rightfully shat on the bouncer because it was a disaster. Sit down junior.
@@sweet_sukeban4022 I don't think you read my answer properly. I agreed with you the general public disliked the bouncer. I disagreed with kingdom hearts. And for your information, I am old enough to be one of the forefathers of the 21's century..
Whoa, this is so weird! Earlier today, I found this game on my shelf randomly, among a collection of PS2 games given to me by a relative. I find it, see that it’s by SquareSoft, think that’s bizarre as I’ve never heard of it, and then put it back on the shelf. But then, a few minutes ago, I’m watching a video by you, where you mention you reviewed The Bouncer! So I had to go and check out the review. It’s kinda disappointing that it turned out to be bad, but still, it’s cool that it’s the only SquareSoft game I own.
Oh, and yeah, it’s impossible to read on a PS2, or even the real original box.
The amount of hate that this game gets only makes me love it more. Still have my original launch day copy.
Can you still play the game?
@@KittyKatty999 Yes, why wouldn't I?
...Wait a minute.
Man, Xion being a Sora clone must have been a reference to Sion. This is hilarious.
Now if only he could finish playing Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth...
Feels so uncomfortable when he calls Sion a pedo. That girl is like a little sister to him. It's not like any of the shown scenes even imply anything romantic.
Funny to see you go through this game, as I was introduced to it not long ago myself. Played it at a friends place, and we had an absolute blast! Such a dumb and buggy game, but still quite a blast xD Good video as always, Austin. Keep up the good job :D
Kasper Pedersen no. Not dumb and buggy. Don't know what copy you played. But it was obviously bad. Scratched? Or just the co outer couldn't handle the emulator
It was on an emulator, and I don't believe there was any problems following that. The story was pretty dumb, so was the characters, but it in no way diminished the fun we had, thanks to the voice acting and crazy short levels. We did get a couple cases of the enemies getting trapped in the environment, maybe that was because of the emulator? Can't say for sure.
Kasper Pedersen lol story was anime fueled. It's very basic. If you watch anime, you'll appreciate it more. Every game could glitch that way. Sometimes the triggers are specific with rendering. I've never, nor have I heard many of any players see any bugs like that. So I'd say it just shouldn't be counted as buggy cause the majority didn't have that problem. And it's probably more prevalent on the emulator.
Could also try to get an iso from another site. That works a lot for games I've had bug problems woth...if I made sure my computer and emulator was set right already.
Rock on.
please bring that grandpa character back from time to time
Earlier today I was looking through your videos and thought: 'Man, this guy hasn't uploaded in a while. What a shame.'' Look at where we are now. Fucking pottery if you ask me.
Last video was last week! Im doing better D:
Oh snap, you're right, my bad. Guess I was in limbo.
Strange how the universe can be boiled down to ceramics
I really wanted to like The Bouncer when it was released. But going from something like Final Fantasy 8 to a mediocre beat em up like this. Just no.. There is one other good thing I have to add though. Echidna's walk, those were some really nice looking ..ehm physics.
looks like the unholy love child of final fantasy 7 8 and 10 mixed in with a little bit of Erghiez (God Bless The Ring)
Gotta send love to my boy Austin. You out there every day putting out the good shit.
That MS Saga music though! I really enjoyed that game, too bad it is so underappreciated.
OMG, hahahaha, oh no, the last skit made me laugh so hard. I appreciate the effort to imitate the Nomura design fashion look.
But, interesting video! I've heard of this game, but not so many people talked about it. And I guess I understand why. But, this game was announced for PS2's launch title? That's pretty crazy to know about. SquareSoft was really hitting the market those early years huh.
It's from Japan, 15 year old isn't a huge deal there. How old is Sion supposed to be anyway? Pedophilia is attraction to little kids, not teenagers who've gone through puberty already btw.
Sion is 19 and the romance is only seen by boku its just odd he was fixated on a non existent thing.
@@snintendog the movie her is the same thing. who can have feelings for anything man. even a tree
I think I just found me a Caddicarus clone.
And I love. =D

Trying to label Sion a pedo was pretty weird when 1) he's barely an adult, 2) he's barely older than her, 3) she isn't prepubsecent, 4) she was equally as weird towards him, and 5) she's a creepy robot. And this is seemingly often the case with that dumb label...except that last part.
The artstyle of The Bouncer is so similar to Final Fantasy 8's FMV artstyle, you could tell me that The Bouncer is in the Final Fantasy 8 universe and I would believe you.
Sora grows up to be a bouncer confirmed.
I know the comment section of a 4 year old video is deader than my love life, but you do realize that age of consent in Japan is 13 right? Not so creepy for the guy to like the girl if you view it from a different culture’s POV
Austin is just unfortunately hella insecure. It's a thread that pierces all of his videos, and it's honestly quite depressing.
@@dark0al097 oh… holy hell I got a comment… cool, and to elaborate my point a little further, I see this kinda stuff all the time when it comes to games and anime… it really is sad people can’t take a few seconds to think about it from a different POV, but instead go slinging words like pedo and MAP around… or as you said just plain old depressing
The age of consent in practice in Japan is 16 and above at the lowest. Only people who is really held to the 13 baseline is special cases such as indigenous people like the Ainu. And there's been pushback to ensure it's raised to at least 18 in recent years
Age gap relationships are more common in Japan but that's normally when they're above 18. In this case and most other cases people would probably just not say or do anything in Japan. People keep to themselves more there
@@Treyman-yi7ei another good point to make, people keep their nose in their own damned business… wish that was a bit more prevalent in places like the US and other western parts of the world
Bouncer is one of the Best Games Square Soft Ever Made. I definitely do not agree with this review. Sorry I don't say this much to people but for this video you're not right man. The Bouncer was a Great Game.
You have an shit taste for games then.
I actually like the costume design. It has this blend of 90s punk//goth clubkid but in a fantasy world. It's pretty current with the time it was released in. If you look at all his work you definitely get a feel of where Tetsuya's inspiration comes from. Which is mainly street fashion. Even looking at his design for the characters in FFXV shows he's still influenced by it.
Massive disappointment. Returned this game the same day I bought it, back when that wasn't exactly an easy thing to do.
I thought the game was dope what didn’t you like about it?
Bruh you def gotta elaborate how it was a let down. Very early next gen console that has graphics that honestly still holds up.
@@teaguejelinek4038 lmaooo
Dude, calling the main character a pedophile really doesn't work that well when you consider the fact that one, she's actually an android, and two, they're only FOUR years apart. It's not like he's in his 20s. She's 15 and he's 19. That's not really that big of a deal.
Damn that endingNomu-asutin has some wierd fetishes
Also good vid
Man, what a breath of fresh air watching people's old content where they didn't bleep/censor everything for fear of demonetization. I miss the old UA-cam.
I was disappointed with it but still had a decent and stupidly silly enough quality to make me play it over and over.
I remember being so hyped for this, and after getting it thinking "ok but when can I ACTUALLY play? Now? Oh ok grea- oh...well, ok." About the most I remember was (aside from their...amusing fashion choices) was one unimportant line that I'm not even sure which person said, probably one of the girls, but they were passing out or dying or...who knows. "Si...........on". Yeah girl I'm exhausted too 🤷🏻♂️
Game still looks good though
Spyder Looks eh tbh.
It is.
The Bouncers main flaw was that DreamFactory, left the development because of the Xbox which was the result of Kakuto Chojin which like The Bouncer was rushed. Still despite both games being heavily panned, I still enjoy DreamFactory games for what they try to do to innovate the fighting game genre which a lot of their mechanics where later used on other fighting games.
This is the worst review of the best game ever made.
I Agree. He made bad review on the best games.
Appreciate the "love" for this game.Never seen your videos, but now I will be a frequent viewer. Variety is key I guess, right? Opinion is the god of all UA-cam as long as your viewers agree. Glad to be a part of something much bigger haha. ;)
Fashion part was sooooo funny LOL!
>Austin finally has sort-of-regular human hair color
Thank god.
Seems too young to remember this game, was a junior in high school and this game was really fun, regardless of how awkward it played and for tge time the graphics were pretty amazing
DaBlackStar right on
Did u not watch the video? He was 10 yrs old when the game launched and mentioned how great the graphics seemed at the time
At least im wearing human clothes is a low bar to get over but at least you got over it I guess
Considering you love the idea of story driven beat-em-ups, I feel you would absolutely love Yakuza 2, it's the most arcadey in the series as the others are more like action rpgs. It also has a great story and a great soundtrack.
Its weird that this was the video that youtube suggested that I watch from you. I mean it's not like it was bad, it was great. And I actually played the Bouncer, but Google doesn't know that... (wait...)
I love that you came up with your own bouncer costume.
This game has a metric shit ton of issue but the reality is that its still a great game. Complaining about lack of replayability and then stating that other characters are unplayable at laters levels due to the lvl system makes me wonder how you say the game is short when its literally offering you replay ability. The lore the game presents is nowhere near as good as the in game text lore.
It gives you a solid background for the characters but it does let you enjoy the game interactions a bit more. its a japanese game name me one game that doesn't completely sperg out with lore. where this game really shines is versus mode Like this game has a 6 player game mode. Versus is designed as a hell of a party game I can remember good things with my bros and how we agreed on no 4th form Duragon because that strike special almost always broke your guard and taking a hit from it would make your health bar break. Like the bouncer is some smash levels of fun at times a bit clunky tho.
Seriously if you haven't played this game give it a try first you'll see the flaws for yourself and a lot of them have to do with "FIND THE THING" SHIT.
This game needs a reboot SquareInex as you're watching this guy please make a reboot of the bouncer.
Finally, someone talks about the bouncer. :)OG Kingdom Hearts lol
For what it's worth... this game had a FUEGO soundtrack. Like, each song on the OST is surprisingly quality - each track has personality to it. Of course, with the Final Fantasy series, I've come to expect 10/10 OST's from Squaresoft, so I guess it makes sense (although I know Uematsu didn't compose for this game).
You have Kou Leifou written under Sion's portrait lol. Woops.
The Bouncer: The Worst Squaresoft Game
The quiet man: hold my beer
Dude some one already posted this. FAIL
Plus The quiet man is not a square soft game so double FAIL
From the description here, this game sounds like it should have been amazing and then just fell on its face somewhere along development. Thanks for reviewing this strange, bad game!
thehaxfactory best comment.
I've wanted a sequel for so long.
And calling this game trash, is like calling Way of the Samurai trash.
Short gameplay...but ACTUAL great content.
I honestly think the game was just too short, and even with beautiful cut-scenes for its time period, the people just started hating on it. Say if they simply double the amount of fights, and added in one more "mini arc" I am pretty sure it would not receive half the hate it does now.
@@aseeds7785 This game was never hated on until now. Growing up, no one trashed talked this game. instead, they praised it. why now are people talking shit about it? because it's 2019 and games evolved. same with the first kingdom hearts. no one trashed the game until streaming games became a thing.
I really enjoyed the Bouncer when I went back it a year ago, but I do agree with the a lot of your criticisms. I can't tell you how many times I've failed the survival mode just because I wouldn't get the move I wanted. I was also kinda worried about watching this video for some reason because I really remember liking it, I have no idea why that was, i just get a bit defensive.
Good video, I really enjoyed it.
Sion is 19 and Dominique is 15 according to the wiki. that's a 4 year age gap, honestly that's not weird at all. 5+ years is when things start to get questionable and that's only if one of the two is still in their mid teens, for example if someone is 27 and the other person is 20 that's a 7 year difference (pushing it in age gap even for my standards) but it's not a problem since both are consenting adults, it's just one of them is moderately younger.
that oddly specific criticism aside, everything thing else Austin said makes sense and is justifiable except maybe the outfit designs, you gotta remember this is the early 2000s, outfit designs by Japanese developers were always funky, look at power stone.
I agree with everything you said. This is also Japanese based, even if they try to "emulate and mix" cultures together. Notice how new Japanese games do not do this anymore as they learn. The japanese themselves who dress more american also add in their own twist, which sometimes comes somewhat close, if on the rare spectrum even more weird.
im sorry its still a little wierd that a person who's old enough to be in college would be in a relationship with someone who's only a freshman in highschool. you're almost 20,but you're girlfriend can't even drive yet. All your friends are dating hot college chicks while your girlfriend still needs her parents permission for certain things because she isn't considered an adult yet
This is the like 5th video I've seen a reviewer sitting on this game but yet everyone in the comments section loves it (including me). I smell a conspiracy here
Most youtubers who make gaming videos deliberately try to rip good games to get views and comments. It works.
Can't be worse than Unlimited SaGa
Doom2Guy It's not at least you don't have to learn Japanese and buy a multi volume encyclopedia to make it playable. Some try hards try to make it seem that the game was designed to weed out the weak yet those people look up a guy on UA-cam who knows Japanese and gives tutorials.
that's squeenix tho not square soft
Nikodem R It was released in December 19 2002 in Japan the merger wasn't until April 1st 2003.
ok you're right, but the version released in the US was released by Square Enix. oddly enough they were too ashamed to also release that in europe so they let Atari do it, how fitting.
That was the first ever game I returned. I used the refund to buy Wild Arms 3, now that is a damn great game.
This is one of the games I look back on and really enjoy reminiscing about. My friends and I spent hours upon hours playing story and 4 player vs. God dang that donkey kick sion barzahd!
I don't know, google me Samurai Legend Musashi and tell if that's not Nomura at his Nomura-est...
StarMech Xerez lol I thing I've character designs that had zippers on the belts. But dammit, I still like his art style despite his odd choices.
The World End's With You'est Nomura
Sion got de-aged and boom you got Sora’s design inspiration. Not only that but there’s actually a later cater called Xion who has connections to Sora. Plus Pence’s shirt says Dogstreet.
