It’s because Ford uses the lame “lifetime fluid” excuse so nobody even considers changing theirs. It’s no wonder everyone’s transmission’s are failing.
Depends on what brand you go with. As long as you change it earlier than the recommended intervals, I think you’re fine with almost all universal DCT fluids currently out there. Only thing I’d avoid, is using a specific make spec’d trans fluid, in another make (without further research, discretion, etc). The Ford OEM DCTF is quite expensive, and there’s phases on Amazon where it drops in price, so that’s fair. The only brand I think I personally didn’t try, was Redline, as it was a bit thicker in viscosity than the rest of the universal DCTF’s on the market. Brands like Motul and Valvoline, are very solid DCTF choices. I’ve also used lesser common brands, like BG (discontinued) and Amalie, which worked just fine.
I have removed the torx screw, it was impossible to remove it, I want to ask you if I can put the transmission fluid through the vent hole, thank you very much
That's how I did mine. I did not even touch the fill plug. 60 ounces out and 60 ounces in. Just like the man says, be careful not to fill too fast because essentially, using the vent hole, the system is no longer vented while filling it. Just need to fill slowly and it'll be OK.
Ok I completely drained the old fluid and I got the hose all the way in the fill hole. I got to the end of the first quart and it started draining out of the fill hole like it's over filled. What's the deal with that?
I just ordered Motul DCTF from Amazon if anyone else is having trouble finding the right fluid. It's supposed to be top notch stuff and it was only about $35 for a pack of 2 qts. That's about the same as 1qt from Ford.
@LoganVegas3353 so far so good in mine. It looked the same as the fluid that drained, whatever that's worth. Also multiple reviews and forums reccomended it for the dual clutch transmission.
i made this video with the thought that the person watching may not know anything about cars and you have to realize not everyone out of the 150k viewers we get a month has ever even stepped foot inside a parts store so i made the video showing that there was no aftermarket alternative fluid for this transmission and that the dealer ship was the only option and in my opinion this is the best explained video on this topic on this platform

Was your vehicle lifted completely level? If not some of the old fluid will stay inside the transmission and not be fully cleared out
