Yes that true but retighten to tight causes that and it is tight to the scalp as I can see from here. In the area where your scalp can't handle to much pull and tightness is the reason why. Other parts can with no problem but eventually it will get to that point. In that area you should be able to see some hair underneath the retighten loc and not sooooo tight you can see your scalp being pulled and irritated like that. They are always quick to send you to a dermatologist but it starts with how tight they are tighten your hair and pulling it through. After I took over tighten my hair myself and being more gentle and not tighten it so tight I can see my scalp without looseness in my crown area I didn't have that problem anymore. So you can choose to keep going to that person and tell her in the crown area of your hair where it is sensitive to be more gentle and not pull though the loop with hard pressure and leave a rotation or two at the scalp or root of your hair so it won't be so tight. Or you will keep experiencing the same problem and wasting money seeing a specialist for a problem that can't be fix but by the person whom is doing your hair. Or another option is that you learn how to retighten that area yourself and let her do the rest but explain to her to leave a rotation or two at your scalp. Learn now or you will pay for it later with balding form pulling your locs toooooooo tight. A word of wisdom.
The thinning might be because going past your tightening time plus really small locs aren’t for every hair texture I also have thin hair so I installed 215 braidlocs they are small but bigger then sisterlocs there are more strands to stand the weight of the locs as they grow
Have you looked into knotted locs? Shes a former Sisterlocks consultant that came up with Knotted Locks as a way to remedy the thinning and alopecia seen in small sized locks like SL because of the rigid retightening schedule. You only relock 4x a year with Knotted Locks. Also pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto both internally and externally are great for hair loss. Also prp (platelet rich plasma ) injections with A-Cell added to the prp have worked wonders for me. I cut my 6 yr old sisterlocks to remedy some hair loss I had from traction alopecia from a u-part wig I wore about 2 to 4 yrs before I was locked. Wasnt classic on the hairline it was in 3 spots right where the u--part wig sat. I only wore them for maybe a year to a 1 year and a half but it took a toll. Gonna have my locs reattached when the hair regrows but I think I will maintain them with Knotted Locks in those 3 fragile areas and interlock the rest. Definitely not on a 4-8 week schedule like I did before. Probably 9 or 10 weeks and then 12 wks for the regrown areas. The more I think of it I probably will also do Knotted Locks on my hairline as a preventative measure. I recently seen a loctician state that locks arent a forever style and should be taken down or started over after 7 to 10 years and I kind of agree.
So sorry to hear about your thinning. You are one of my favorite people to follow bc I also started with longer hair and my starter locs looked a lot like yours as far as initial fullness. If mine mature like yours, I will be ecstatic! I'm glad your loctitian referred you to a dermatologist bc the thinning issue likely is not related to the locs but the dermatologist is the best to diagnose that. I thought it was just me I work in different parts of Alaska so I have to go to Anchorange to get my reti I usually get my retie every 6 weeks well with weather and flight cancellations it will be 3 mo and the new growth is insane I’m so nervous about my hair I’ve never gone this long before. My hair is fine Low density when I hear my hair pop I get scared 😱 that I’m going to lose a loc. 2 week 🤞🏾it will not be so bad. Ps hope all works out with your hair and scalp.
Great video! Glad to know that your consultant quickly recommended going to a dermatologist. I have sisterlocks and was recently diagnosed with ccca (alopecia). If caught early, the treatments may stop the spread, and may actually grow back your hair. I have a video on it as well.
Your hair has really flourished. Your hair is so Beautiful!! I have to schedule my retie asap. Mine are sticking together as well and I have to wash mine today and the pulling apart hurt so bad 😂😂 I just hit my 2 year anniversary.
Are you sure that the oil that you apply isn't irritating your scalp and conflicting with your body chemistry? Your SLs are absolutely gorgeous. I had my SLs established in March 2017.
At some point, there’s not much you can do to combat thinning other than stop putting stress on your hair from the root. Our hair changes as we grow older due to physiological & hormonal changes. Heredity plays a role, as in alopecia and fine edges run in my family. I take medications which can cause thinning. A dermatologist can’t combat nature and topical treatments can be a waste of time and money. It just is what it is. My best friend has always had thin, fine, low density hair. Now as she’s grown older, she has patches where the hair has fallen and spots are now bald. Dermatologist recommended scalp shots then a cream then told her there was nothing that could be done as the issue is non reversible and that she should stop wearing buns and pulling her hair tight. Not every problem has a solution and we have appreciate what we have.

Try pumpkin seed oil capsules for internal inflammation. Also, add pumpkin seed oil to scalp oil. This helped me so much.
