A Different World was one of the Best Shows on television and even now when they show it on syndicate it is still great!! It is the reason a lot of my friends, former classmates & myself went to college (HBCU). This show was not only funny but it had its teachable times as well. Alot of shows don't have that.
I really hate when a different world ended. I thought for sure Dewayne and Whitley would have a spin off show but it never happened. I do enjoy watching the reruns Now!
They were supposed to, but Jasmine Guy wanted to do other roles than playing Whitley.
I thought so too, I figured they would do a reunion at some point
Jasmine Guy has said in interviews that they were definitely offered spin-off opportunities, but she declined. Because she didn’t want any to be type cast and have ppl only look at her as Whitley. In my opinion she missed her opportunity, because I think the spin-off would have led to other work for her. After A Different World she did the Movie School Daze and tried to have a singing career that didn’t take off.
@@kamikoils9336 I think School Daze was before "A different World", not sure, but the spin off would have been a smart business move, she was not a good singer IMO, she did the movie "Queen" and a few Tyler Perry Shows.
They didn't like black people having that kind of effect on people. Just look at the trash that came after it. They want us as drug dealers, gang members, and prison inmates. This surely needs a reboot.
Kadeem still one of my very favorites and he is versatile and changes with the times.

As a proud HBCU alumni, I can definitely say that the yard was completely empty when A Different World and The Cosby Show was on. We would cram into the dorm rooms to enjoy the shows! Great memories.
They still have real chemistry ❤❤. They definitely should do a reboot….

They don't put shows like this out now about black positivity and the importance of education and lifes choices is because its too positive!! They dont want black people/ children to be seen a positve light. You cant even warch this show in it's entirety hardly anywhere!

3-17-24. Very Much Agree. A Different World needs to be continuing with a Legacy Cast of the original Cast Members who are now the Grandparents and still champion HBCUs with flashbacks in the continued new series.
On their reunion they said Freddy was his real love.
A Different World was a game changing sitcom,it drew more audience views than the Cosby Show ( Cosby Show had an 80/85 % white audience viewers ) something no other black sitcom has ever done. AD made black people want to attend HBCU,a tv show-INCREDIBLE. Wouldn't mind another version of black college life on a tv show,make it a comedy also,but,no cursing,no &&&& twerking-NONE. LOL. It made me want to attend college also,but,I chose to go to the navy instead. Using my signing bonus I moved my mother and 5 sisters out of the hood into a home and much better neighborhood. GO-NAVY !!! LOL.
The show was created by Bill Cosby but sitcoms was good, it was suppose to be about Denise Cosby until Bill Cosby took her off the show
I didn't like the show that much, I watched it when I was young too, but I didn't care for it too much! I like The Cosby show better.
Exactly. When I grew up I knew that I had two choices, college or the military. Growing up in a PW area since childhood, I wanted to go to an HBCU to fully experience our culture. I never knew that we were such a diverse people! I had classmates from all over the world, different socioeconomic backgrounds, some were highly cultured and some a bit rough around the edges. One thing that we all had in common is that we knew we wanted to become something! I cherish my experience at CSU. I went on to earn a Masters and a Doctorate from PWI's, never did I feel as close or connected to any of my classmates than I did at CSU. Go Marauders!

I watched this show when it first aired and stopped watching after a lot of character changes. I never shipped Hardison and Guy as a couple on this show though. Plus it was revealed that Hardison & Summer were a couple in real life way back. This isn't anything new. At least for me anyway.

I was searching on my computer and found out A Different World TV Show was based on a LA college, it had pretty women in it and it was a spin off to the Cosby Show, I bet producers made a lot of money, it still plays today, theme song was good too A different World you can watch on UA-cam anyway

Summer was yhe voice behind a beautiful AA character on Batman. She has such a distinctive voice. It's gravelly but youthful and exciting. Her voice reminded me of an energetic "teenage" lioness. It was very interesting.

There were a professional who's analogy was Whitney should've not had said yes to Kadeem, his ways of speaking to her at times,and certi as n mannerisms should have end this relationship, since he wasn't really in love with her , and in love classmate, this explains, more so. They act well, not actually a couple.
I'm not really a fan of the show, but at least it had a positive depiction of our family.
