The nib compresses because it was injection moulded and had a lot of internal stresses The tube was probably extruded and didn’t have much internal stresses Those internal stresses were frozen when the nib was cooled during manufacturing But when it’s re heated and it’s softened, those stresses pull the plastic inwards therefore shrinking it

what if you took different types of pens and markers (like ballpoint, uni-ball, gell, crayola, sharpie, dry erase, and highlighters), and inks, and did different experiments on them? like boiling, dehydrating, melting, freeze-drying, and frying?
5:50 you have now discovered something i have been doing for years with tree sap and sticks 😂 boy scout hack: take a small twig and cover an end in pine tree sap (certain species work alot better than others, some dont work at all) and place in a lake! leaves (yes thats on purpose) a trail behind it and jets across the lake for a bit! super fun though
