Hey, folks -- Maju has directed three films -- French Viplavam (2018), Appan (2022) and Perumani (2024). I don't think either French Viplavam (= French Revolution) or Perumani have gone to streaming. (Oh, and I typed that before you got there). Maju has said that Appan was inspired by experiences of toxic masculinity related to him by friends. I'm a great fan of Sunny Wayne, who kinds of ends up in the shadows of some of the other actors of his generation (esp. his friend, DQ). If you want a film recommendation for him -- and it's definitely an under-appreciated film! -- I'd suggest Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal, which is one of my fave films, for sure. (Added tidbit: Sunny Wayne was the producer of Appan) And for Kathy -- French Viplavam is a comedy, and Perumani is a social satire.
I had mentioned this movie while u were discussing animal. Both protagonist fundamentally share the same elemental traits. While animal glorifies it here we applaud the movie and the performance but not the character.
Ah…ok. Thanks for the heads up. That video title btw is appreciated even though it may limit the number of clicks. Everyone’s reactions have forewarned me. It wasn’t on my radar but now I have flagged it for when I have the bandwidth to handle it. The character arc of the female character mentioned by Melanie sounds worthwhile. So it’s added on my list..but definitely not on the top
This was the director 's second movie. His first movie was French Viplavam ( French Revolution), a comedy starring same hero about alcohol prohibition and had very bad reviews. His third movie came out recently. Perumani, a comady with okay reviews. edited to add: i heard you all mentioning this movies after I posted 😊
