Annemarie, I just love you and what you do. It seems all the paint you touch turns to gold. It’s so inspiring to me. I can’t seem to produce the beautiful works of art you do but you’re sense of humour and your admission that you don’t always have the answers stir me on to keep trying and experimenting too. Not just everyone 'on line' have the gift thar you have my dear! I been watching you for several years! And still enjoy everything of yours I watch! Thanks you the eye candy!
It is always OK to mourn the loss of any friend. Our backyard is in bloom and I can tell you the resting place of all of the special cats, dogs, and hamsters who have shared the past 50years with us. Our goldfish became the appetizers for a visiting crane. Your video is one of the best....bottle caps I have...peace and love Annemarie !
I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. It brought tears to my eyes. It doesn't matter what type of baby we have, they are all our beloveds. I'm glad you had some decades with him.😻
Anne Marie, that was something to have a Koi as part of you life for decades! It is very important to acknowledge the loss and grief.,and most of us have empathy. Hope there is a Koi heaven. 💞🐟
So sorry about the loss of your beloved koi. Please don’t worry that you could have saved him..it was as it was meant to be. Just remember the joy you gave each other.. And I love your art. Have learned so much from you..
So sorry to hear that. I had a fish for years and when he passed it really bothered me for a long time. Non of my family understood why I was so upset over a fish but it comes down to this. You care for them you nurture them and they depend on you to survive so you really do get attached. Again I am so sorry.
Ditto. Had a baby cat fish 1 1/2 inches long for 8 years. Was shocked when he turned up. Then sad. Makes me think of my baby passing over. Her name was Shebah. She was a cho. lab. Never left my side, not until cancer got her. I'll never get another dog. I hurt so much. I can't go through that again. So... I understand you loss. It will get a little better with time.
Thanks for mentioning the torching for cells. I was holding the torch in one place waiting for cells and then after about 30 seconds, I burned a hole thru the canvas and caught the plastic underneath it on fire lol. Thanks for sharing all these great vids with us! I’m learning 🙂
Ann, you are exactly right. People can often over think what they want or need to do and, unfortunately, when we do this, we can often ruin what would have, otherwise have been a great painting. Having painted for most of my 72 years, there are a few easy, basic rules or tips I have learned over the years. One of them is that I must take the required time to finish a painting. If I allow my creative spirit to take control, she will let me know, almost immediately, lead me from one step after the other. The second is to STOP just before you think it’s going to be perfect, and the third thing is to learn to think in odd numbers. It is a proven theory that things are much more pleasing to the eye when they are in odd numbers. This is true whether you are arranging Knick knacks on the shelves of an entertainment. Center or trying to decide where to place our focal points on a canvas. This is so ingrained in me after all these years that I now just think in terms of odd numbers. I know it sounds strange, but it really does work
AnneMarie I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I also have a Koi pond and I would be heart broken if one of my babies (fish) passed away. They are apart of the family. I really enjoy sitting out by the pond every morning with my coffee, watching the fish and listening to the waterfall, so relaxing. I love watching your videos and listening to you! Thank you for all your help. God Bless.
Lovely work and great demonstration! So far I find that putting silicone in a color that I want to see filling up my cells ends up showing the colors underneath that instead, like my wet base coat. Even with a speck of silicone, I got cells in cells in cells, and it ends up just going crazy lol. So to keep track, I like to just put silicone in the layers I know I want to "look through" like my top few layers. I am a newbie still, but seems to be helping!
I'm so sorry about your coy fish that passed away. He sounded very special and I'm just so sorry for your loss. You are a very caring person and it shows. God bless you. 💜
I am really loving the copper and teal colors together!! And I agree - less is more - when I started doing paint pouring- the amount of paint wasted really bothered me! I would watch vids of paint tilts with a cup or more of paint spilling off. And the $$$ I .am on a tight budget being retired. SO I appreciate your LESS IS MORE APPROACH.
I am sorry for your loss. Losing a beloved pet whether a fish, a dog, bird or cat that has been with you for so many years is just that a loss. How it affects you shows just what an empathic and caring heart you have. I truly enjoy the colors you have used in this video. Please continue being you because it is your "you" that endears you to others.
It looks like sea foam among the rocks on the shore...beautiful! I'm so sorry about your old friend the fish. Our little animal friends give us so much joy when they are here, and so much sorrow when they have to leave us.
Annemarie, you had a perfect Picasso Lady going at 13:09, just before you started blowing on the left side which was her face. Picasso sometimes put both eyes on one side of a face and you had it perfectly ! You kept working your creation and it ended up beautiful. Thank you for your videos.
Annemarie I’m so sorry to hear about your Koi fish. You’re right, he is in a lovely pond in heaven. You have such a kind heart! Love you all to pieces!
I was so sorry to hear about your fish. I had a beautiful gold fish named Burt and I had him or her for 6 years, we moved to a new home and Burt was not happy. He did the same thing he jumped out during the night and when we woke the kids found him. We understand how you feel.
Sorry to hear about Mr Koi, 30 + years is such a long time to have any pet I’m sure he is happy in his new pond. The negative space pour was beautiful We don’t appreciate it fully till you give us a close up and then it’s just wow 😮
Wow..so sorry for your loss..these souls that are parts of our lives..as a kid in New Yorkmy fish was my only pet. Still hurts when they r gone.we all love you...😌
So sorry to hear about your fish friend! Really like the minimalist painting there. It will be interesting to see how it dries. I tried something like that with a stripe of paint down the center and it spread out way farther than I thought it was going to. But it still looked cool.
Annemarie, I was so sorry and sad to hear about your coy fish. I had no idea they lived that long. I bet you could paint a picture of him. I enjoyed this pour and your sense of humor. Lyn
Ben there, done that! I smeared my entire palm across a 30"x 40" commission piece I'm working on. I was so mad for a minute. I couldn't believe how dumb I was!! Great work Annemarie!
Thank you for showing and inspiring Annemarie. Beautiful work as always. Looking forward to working with smaller amounts for a change. Take care big hugs.
I have fish, a 50, 75 and 150 gal tanks......I'm devastated when I find one floating.....I know how you feel, they aren't just fish, they all have a soul and personality even among the same specie.....I'm so sorry you lost your Koi! I really like your choice of colors, that ,on my own paintings I "over think"...I always learn something from you....Thank you!
Very sorry about your fish Annemarie. Very sad. this was a great video - thank you for sharing. Your island holiday looked great. I did have a chuckle with you when u ran your hand over your still wet painting - we've all done it! Cheers, DEB T
Oh,AnnaMarie. I am so sorry about your fish! And no...it wasn’t just a fish. It was a living ,breathing special friend of yours. And to have it for so long. Like you said it is happy in the big pond in the sky. You are a very “special” lady and a kindred sister of mine.
Hi Annemarie. The Ikea white little box frames look great with a pour on photo paper. I make quite a few and they are very popular. You must try it with you pours you have just done. They look fantastic in sets of 3 and 4 too xx
Your 'fish' was part of your family. I'm sorry for your loss. Now and later when time has gone by. Grief is love and love continues on. I'm sure you will continue your beloved friend. My heart is with you.
Loved this. Stunning. How sad about your beautiful fish. They do have personalities - we had a goldfish that would do hoops in the water when he saw you approaching with a couple of peas (fish LOVE peas).
this is a fantastic exercise! the amount of paint wasted in pours makes me nuts. i put canvases underneath to catch the pour, or i have the paint land on plastic trash bags so i can peel it off and use it for other projects. i keep spray can of wd40 to spot silicone when necessary
Hi annemarie! This is one of my favorite pours that you have done!!! I recently got some of vallejos new pouring medium but i dont think using it right. I am used to floetrol, so this is totally new to me. Do you add water to thin your paint with this pouring medium or no? I get air bubbles too that dont want to pop. So anyways im just not quite sure how to mix the vallejo pouring medium with the paint, could you maybe help me out or make a video on how to mix winsor and newton with the pouring medium? Thanks, Dillan.
you put your winsor and newton in the cup... eyeball it...add 30-40% pouring medium...then add wate little squirts at a time until it`s like warm honey. I add a spoon full of floetrol to 150 ml of paint....I will also add gloss medium...a squirt. then when I am ready add the silicone and pour. ♥ Thank you ♥ ♥Thank you for watching ♥
annemarie ridderhof o thank you SO MUCH!!!💙💙💙 This helps so much! I will do a pour like this with different colors. I will tag you in my instagram post. Thanks again i cant say it enough!
Is the gloss medium you add to your paint also a varnish? Does it make it so you don’t have to varnish the end product-and which product do you use for your gloss medium. These were all very pretty and loved the 20x20 I think it was.
Hi Anna Marie. I have recently started watching videos on paint pouring, and now spend all of my time binge watching your videos!! I really like when the paint shows up think and smooth, there is so much paint it appears mounded when it is wet, however, I often see that less attention is made to the negative spaces and I see brush marks, canvas etc. I don't care for seeing too much canvas. I've seen you fill in little bits when canvas is showing even though it might have a thin layer of paint, but you don't seem to worry about the negative space as much; is the only way to reduce canvas marks is to use a thicker layer of paint? Also, I haven't seen to many part 2 videos from people doing these pours, where they show if it is necessary to put some kind of lacquer on top; what do you recommend? Could you also tell me what the longevity of the paintings will be ie. will they yellow, are you able to wipe them for dusting, can this technique be used to make household things like pot holders, or coasters (would the paint hold up to heat, spills etc.)?? Thank you Claire
you are so overthinking this art form...it takes all the fun out of it. The negative colour has no silicone so it dries as smooth as silk. You don`t need to varnish acrylic paint but most like a shinny finish so we varnish. I don`t know how long they will hold up... no one can aswer that. Make a few coasters and test them out.
@@annemarieridderhof I was thinking this before even reading the first comment when I saw you stick your finger in the middle of that painting and created a white spot...it seemed like a natural place to paint a Koi fish...like he is happily swimming in his NEW pond. :)
This pour reminds me of a Koi as you painted - it changed but it looked a lot like a fish shape at first! One of my close friends had older koi in her pond also and she moves them inside for winter in MN but one jumped out of the large waste trash can that she kept them in and died too/ she felt so bad😢 so sorry!
So sorry about your koi. :( I feel your pain and understand your feelings totally. When my daughter was one year old she received a box turtle as a birthday gift. She is 26 years old now. I have been taking care of that turtle for so many years and he disappeared out of his outdoor habitat by our front door. It happened shortly before winter started studying in. To this day every time I go outside I look around and want to cry thinking of him in the freezing cold weather. Never being a wild turtle I'm scared for him. He is gate about 10 years ago on us but he came back home. I'm still hoping I'll see his crate a little head pop out from behind the flower pot again. So sorry for your loss. He was more than just a fish. I totally understand. ❤️🌞
Annemarie I'm really very sorry for your lose. It doesn't matter whether your loved one had 2 legs, 4 legs, no legs, fins or a beck, you loved him and he has gone. RIP you're friend x
Cyber hug for your fish. Koi know you. That fish knew when you were in the garden. It depended on you for its food and care. Your a nuturing person, it's no wonder you got attached after all that time. Art is good healing therapy.
So sad about your coi, I know your attachment was great. But what a blessed sweet fish to have you as it’s special friend for so very many years 😍. Another viewer stated that you should do tribute painting for your coi - that’s a wonderful idea!!! Then we won’t ever forget your special friend either. Loved the paintings today-ALL of them!!! I see what you mean about using less paint. It really gives the paint room to do its thing plus keep its composition. Thanks for sharing your life with us, it truly makes US happy!😁🤗
So sorry to hear about your Koi! They are such lovely creatures. Sometime ago, I saw a chart for how much paint each canvas needs. I'll try to find it. Very nice pour.
Those charts don`t work...everyone has thicker or thinner paint...and I like some left overs for the squishes. ♥ Thank you Elaine ♥ ♥Thank you for watching ♥
I'm very sorry about your koi. They are beautiful fish. Your painting are very pretty and using bottle caps is a great idea. I'm going to try it. Thanks!
I am so sorry about your fish. Critters we take care of are members of our family. Huge hugs to you. Thank you for your videos. They help me stay inspired to make things
So sorry for the loss of your koi. I have koi and goldfish too and understand that they are part of your family. I know it was too late for your fish but in case you find one out of water another time try dragging the fish backward through the water. I have had success with that. I lost one koi when it jumped out and my dog at the time retrieved it and brought it to me. Unfortunately he didn't have a soft mouth and mortally injured the fish.
I love your work Annemarie. I see a lot of people wipe either floetrol and white paint around their canvases, but I never know what that mixture has in it. Is it just white paint or paint and floetrol or just floetrol without paint? Thanks Annemarie. I'll be watching more of your videos.
@@annemarieridderhof Thanks for the info. Annemarie. I appreciate it very much. And by the way, as a lover of all animals, I am so sorry about your beautiful fish. He lived a very long life and probably a very happy one. I am sorry for your loss.
The last one you did was absolutely awesome! I saw an animal standing upright with a type of robe on. Like royalty. The face was fox like or maybe cat. I thought they were all so pretty tho. And I am so very sorry about your Fish. No it's not just a fish, it was part of your family for many years!
I’m so very sorry about your fish friend. That’s such a long time to be together. Of course you feel a loss. -Completely understandable. You gave your friend a great life. Just hold on to that realization. It really dose help. 💖
spray the cap inside with silicone will slide right out without getting silicone in the paint. Or you could let it sit for a few minutes if you wanted the silicone to get into the paint.
I love this! I haven't seen your videos in a bit. This is great to get me started again! Thank you, thank you. I'm sorry about your fish. I cried when I heard how old he/she was.
I'm sorry about your koi Annemarie.....most of us have not had any animal / pet for that long. I'm an animal lover, so I understand that all the losses hurt. Sending a hug ❤️
So sorry to hear about your Koi, I also have a pond with 14 Koi which have been with us for about 25 years...they are about 2 ' each! I did once see a great heron or egret flying over my home and went to see if my pond fish were ok, and one was flopping on the ground. (the bird had picked it up but dropped it) I threw the fish back it the pond and it was fine! And BTW, Koi have lived as long as 225 years! Amazing but true! I have thought about trying to do a pour and painting Koi over it! Have you?
I've been messing around with acrylic pouring and your videos have been such an inspiration! I have a couple questions though. 1. My latest pours have gotten "craters" where it's basically a hole where you can see the canvas. Any idea why that might happen? 2) what's the difference between using pouring medium versus glue? Thank you!
the craters are where the silicone hits the canvas before the paint...or...grease on the canvas. The difference between the 2 mediums is explained here ua-cam.com/video/VE8IadvPRuA/v-deo.html ♥♥♥
Annemarie, I just love you and what you do. It seems all the paint you touch turns to gold. It’s so inspiring to me.
♥ Thank you ♥

annemarie ridderhof o thank you SO MUCH!!!💙💙💙 This helps so much!
I use vallejo gloss medium...yes it helps but I still varnish ( glossy )
♥ Thank you ♥

Thank you
Claire
you are so overthinking this art form...it takes all the fun out of it.
The negative colour has no silicone so it dries as smooth as silk.
You don`t need to varnish acrylic paint but most like a shinny finish so we varnish.
I don`t know how long they will hold up... no one can aswer that.
Make a few coasters and test them out.
@@annemarieridderhof Thank you.

Im so sorry for the loss of your Koi! 36 years! Thats a family member. ♡♡♡♡♡♡☆☆☆
Thank you so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Awe I'm so sorry Annemarie about your coy fish! Maybe in his or her honor you can paint a picture of it.
Thank you Milisa....maybe in acouple of months....♥♥♥
@@annemarieridderhof I was thinking this before even reading the first comment when I saw you stick your finger in the middle of that painting and created a white spot...it seemed like a natural place to paint a Koi fish...like he is happily swimming in his NEW pond. :)
This pour reminds me of a Koi as you painted - it changed but it looked a lot like a fish shape at first! One of my close friends had older koi in her pond also and she moves them inside for winter in MN but one jumped out of the large waste trash can that she kept them in and died too/ she felt so bad😢 so sorry!
He did have a great life...but now the other koi is all alone....I will have to buy a bigger new one...
♥♥♥
I have learned so much from you, Annemarie, and today was no exception. Thank you.

Thank you Shelli ....♥♥♥
So sorry about your Koi... They are family. He had a wonderful life for sure.
Thank you Gloria ♥♥♥
Turtles do know how to survive in the cold...I will send a lttle prayer for him to return safe and sound....♥♥♥♥
Thank you ♥♥♥
Annemarie I'm really very sorry for your lose. It doesn't matter whether your loved one had 2 legs, 4 legs, no legs, fins or a beck, you loved him and he has gone. RIP you're friend x
Thank you Jane ♥♥♥
Cyber hug for your fish. Koi know you. That fish knew when you were in the garden. It depended on you for its food and care. Your a nuturing person, it's no wonder you got attached after all that time. Art is good healing therapy.
♥ ♥Thank you sooo much ♥ ♥
So sad about your coi, I know your attachment was great.

I am so sorry about your fish. Critters we take care of are members of our family. Huge hugs to you. Thank you for your videos. They help me stay inspired to make things
Thank you Marci ♥♥♥
So sorry for the loss of your koi. I have koi and goldfish too and understand that they are part of your family. I know it was too late for your fish but in case you find one out of water another time try dragging the fish backward through the water. I have had success with that. I lost one koi when it jumped out and my dog at the time retrieved it and brought it to me. Unfortunately he didn't have a soft mouth and mortally injured the fish.
Thank you Kathy ♥♥♥
I love your work Annemarie. I see a lot of people wipe either floetrol and white paint around their canvases, but I never know what that mixture has in it. Is it just white paint or paint and floetrol or just floetrol without paint? Thanks Annemarie. I'll be watching more of your videos.
it is never only floetrol....it`s the same I pour with only no silicone.
♥♥♥ Thank you and thank you for watching♥♥♥
@@annemarieridderhof Thanks for the info. Annemarie. I appreciate it very much. And by the way, as a lover of all animals, I am so sorry about your beautiful fish. He lived a very long life and probably a very happy one. I am sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry about your Koi. I recently lost my little betta friend. He had such a neat personality and I loved that little fish :(.
Ahhh yes....our little friends...sorry for your loss too....♥♥♥
The last one you did was absolutely awesome! I saw an animal standing upright with a type of robe on. Like royalty. The face was fox like or maybe cat. I thought they were all so pretty tho. And I am so very sorry about your Fish. No it's not just a fish, it was part of your family for many years!

spray the cap inside with silicone will slide right out without getting silicone in the paint. Or you could let it sit for a few minutes if you wanted the silicone to get into the paint.

Have you?
Yes they can live that long....I have made an Encaustic painting with koi...haven`t finished it yet.
♥ Thank you ♥

I've been messing around with acrylic pouring and your videos have been such an inspiration! I have a couple questions though. 1. My latest pours have gotten "craters" where it's basically a hole where you can see the canvas. Any idea why that might happen? 2) what's the difference between using pouring medium versus glue?
Thank you!
the craters are where the silicone hits the canvas before the paint...or...grease on the canvas.
The difference between the 2 mediums is explained here ua-cam.com/video/VE8IadvPRuA/v-deo.html
