I went to youtube to research clamp racks. Here I am ten minutes later, research complete!!!! You idea is simple, cheap, universal, repositionable. I was afraid of falling down the rabbit hole in designing my clamp storage, but this is all I need. You are the man!
Me too! Looking at this 1x3 furring strip will do just fine. New shop build here.
What he said. I am building this tonight after work.
Wow this is great. It’s especially helpful cause you shared your exploration and thought process. It really helps to justify your final design and helps someone like me in my own design process. Thanks!
I just built a smaller 16 inch wide version and am happy with it! Simple design, dust falls through, and plenty sturdy.
Boy am I glad I saw this before going crazy with other designs. It's the simplest, easiest, cheapest and most efficient one I've seen. Thanks much
I really like how you lay out the problem and all of the considerations to design for. Then talking through how you come up with your design elements. Most videos on this topic, skip all that and just start building a solution. Thanks to your technique, I can go look at my clamp problem to solve and come up with a design that meets my requirements. Kudos!
I am only new to woodwork and i found that i had my clamps scattered everywhere. I stumpled accross this video and put together this rack when i knocked off work. What a fantastic and simple little project. Thankyou.
Simple and practical. Beats the other videos I saw that looked more like a bit of showing off than finding a simple solution. I'm using yours!
I have watched more "clamp rack" videos than I care to remember. Your design is awesome and incredibly simple, thanks for breaking it down Barney style. I already have shelving in place with useable dead space below them. I can simply attach a piece of scrap between the 16" centers and hang my clamps. You turned what I expected to be a day long process into an hour long process. Keep the great ideas coming 👍
Thanks, I'm glad you found it helpful! Good luck getting your rack set up!
Sometimes the greatest inventions are the simplest. I had been studying a clamp rack plan for a few days and creating a cart with the required materials. Then I ran across this video. Simple yet fits the need. I built it in less than an hour with scraps left over from other projects. It is perfect and cost me nothing! Great job!
I’m glad to hear it! 🙂
Thank you for this simple and useful design. I made one today in about an hour, and now have another reason to buy more clamps.
I’m glad it worked out for you!
I am a clamp hoard. I pick up clamps at garage sales, etc, so like you, they are not all of the same beautiful vintage. I love the easy build. I added a few inches above with a pipe for my C-clamps and a shelf above that for my corner clamps and oddities (aka dust collection). Thanks for the inspiration!
I built one of the ones you see with slots and already hit the limit and jeezus it was a lot of work to make all the cutouts. This is super simple and scalable. Great job.
Why have I not seen this magnet trick before?!? FML. That’s so smart.
Have been looking for a simple clamp rack to build instead of having them piled up on lower shelf of my outfeed table. This is a great idea and well thought out. Thank you for sharing.
I’m glad you found it helpful!
Very best solution I've found after searching quite a lot ! Congrats ! Super simple and efficient at the same time ! :D
I would suggest a oversized hole in the front plate to allow the driver to install the screws through the wall plate.
Wow a DIY clamp storage solution that actually makes sense! All the other DIY videos are 30 min long, annoying and require lots of pricey equipment. Love it! This will solve my storage problem too!
Good luck with the project!
I built one of your clamp racks for my workshop last week. Perfect! Thanks for sharing this design. Strong, great balance for the clamps, and easy to build.
Simplistically super! Great idea for the smaller workshop, a space saving and easy to get to the right clamp solution! Thanks Tom.
So simple, and just as good as fancy ones! Thanks for another great, simple idea.
Great video Tommy, I can definitely appreciate the front end work you do before projects rather than just replicating something you’ve seen someone else make. Nice work! 👍🏼
Thank you, Travis! I hope all is well with you!
Great ideas! Thanks for posting.
5:15 I like my clamps down where they're easier to reach, so I'll probably hang the rack a little lower, and make a second, narrower one for my few long clamps.
Excellent design.
Thanks for posting this! I made this in about 30 minutes without having a table saw (just using my old circular). Works great! Can't thank you enough. Will be checking out your other posts.
Tommy, I love this simple idea. It is extremely efficient. Love watching your videos. Keep them coming and keep up the good work. The ideas are always the tough part ! Will be 70 soon and am always learning !!
Genius idea. Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest ones. Thank you again for a another great video.
Thank you for the kind words about my work! I truly appreciate it!
Anyone can make something complicated, but solving a complicated problem with a simple solution: that's genius. Simplicity is true elegance.
Works well as a simple rack. You might want to add a piece of ply in the right side that extends up above to prevent them from falling off that end.
That's a good idea! Thanks for sharing!
Great idea. Easy to build and works perfectly. Most other clamp racks shown on UA-cam were too elaborate for my shop. This is ideal. Well done.
Thanks for the work. Great idea. I'll be building something like this in my shop soon.
Thanks! I’m glad it was helpful!
Super simple, Super quick. This is what I built and it works fine. Thanks matey!
Just came across this. Perfect timing! Took about 20 minutes to build something similar. Subscribed for sure!!
Well done. I am always skeptical about custom-fit tool holders since they will invariably go out of style once the next tool comes around, so this general solution for all kinds of clamps makes more sense.
Thank you! I'm glad you dig it!
This was perfect! I also have an eclectic array of clamps which the slot system would’ve been more trouble than what it was worth. Thank you so much! I love how it’s easily customizeable to any length a future clamp purchase friendly.
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Your clamp holder is the best design I've seen for the project. Simple yet effective. Thanks for your excellent tutorial.
Thank you very much - I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks, that's exactly what I needed . Something I could make from scrap pieces. I too removed the front to make it easier to mount. I also slid the adjustable end of the clamps up against the bottom of the face plate so they weren't too teetery .
Just watched this video and literally built and installed it in my garage. Cheers!
Needed a easy way to hold all my different sized clamps and this was a perfect idea. Made a 4ft long unit in about 20 min out of old scrap plywood and now my clamps are organized. Great video!
That is a great idea! I never thought of using a single 1 x board to hang clamps but it works. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you, John! I’m glad you like it!
Just made this for my clamps! Quick and so functional. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Thanks Mate. Gonna build that tomorrow, that solution definatley works fpr my shop. Cheers for the vid
Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Gotta day best video on pipe clamp organization. Didn’t over think something so simple and functional. I’m making me some tomorrow. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
I just finished my rack. Made it out of 1/2” plywood. It holds all my clamps perfectly. Thanks for your video.
Nice idea. I have been working on my garage and this is something that might work for me.
Thanks, and best of luck setting up your garage!
Exceptionally simple! Gives me some great ideas. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you!
I like this design because it is simple and effective.. well done!
Was looking for a clamp rack design and this one is just brilliant in its simplicity! Will be making good use of this.
This is it. This is what I'm going to build. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. I just made one for my shop. Finally got all my clamps together!
Awesome!
Love it! Thank you. Certainly going to do that when I build my workshop.
Thank you! Good luck building your workshop!
Great idea! I know what I'm going to be doing today! Easy and quick solution! Perfect for what I need.
Thank you for this video, well thought out and going thru the benefits and cons of each type of build. I’ve been looking for diy clamp rack that would also accommodate my pressure triggered clamps and this is perfect. God bless!
Really straightforward. I have one built with conduit, but need more and will be using your approach.
As always, thank you so much for sharing your design process. I love seeing your prototype tests. It helps me think of creative solutions for my builds. Love the rack and I'm looking forward to your next video!
Thank you, Dawn! I'm glad you're finding my channel helpful, and appreciate the wonderful compliments!
EXCELLENT! I'm getting ready to consolidate 3 clamp racks into one area and this will help make thing work & fit.
Thank you! Good luck getting your clamps organized!
Great job on the clamp rack. I looked at several designs before deciding on yours. I made your rack 52” long. I made a shelf to mount above the rack, also 52” long. I was able to get all my clamps on the rack with room to grow. It is very strong. Thank you for sharing.
During this COVID mess I've been reorganizing my woodshop--what a discovery; clamps everywhere and now with this simple design the clamps will be organized. Thanks!
Just built this rack. Works great. Your recommendations were accurate about the longer screws. Too bad I can't share a picture.
Eclectic is beautiful. Beautiful solution to boot! I’m building this today. Thanks for doing all the trials for me 😆👍
You got it! Good luck with the build!
Thank you for your simple and effective design, will certainly be including into current workshop design.
Great design. Made one up for my garage and small collection of various clamps. Works like a charm. I appreciate it!
Well thought out! Thanks!
Absolutely fantastic. Sometimes the simplest design is by far the best. Well done! 👍
Thank you!
Made one, I'll need another in the future but it worked great and so simple!
Best rack I have seen, by far! Others are fancier, but they take more space, and hold fewer clamps. Shop space is at a premium, so function beats fancy, every time in my shop! Yours is a great design! I'm going to build one (or two) for myself.
Made it! It took about half an hour and solved a month’s worth of frustration! Thanks so much!
Glad it helped!
Easy and fast build, thanks.
Great video, I sold my home and shot and moved to another state. I'll have more space and I have a lot of clamps. Thanks for the ideas.
Love your concept, is very nice to have them all in just one spot! Thanks for sharing! :D
Thank you!
Nice video. Used a slightly modified build and was not only able to get all my f style clamps organized but had a place to put all of my spring clamps along the back 'rail'' since I have exposed studs in my shop. Thanks for the idea!!
Nice!
Thanks, this is a great approach. I'm going to build this one today!
Good luck with the project!
I like your process, thanks for showing it. And that is a great use of an out-of-the-way space.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the idea. Just what I needed for my clamps. Made one today and it works perfect!
That's awesome to hear! I'm glad it worked out for you!
Nice. Cheap, easy and efficient.
Looks great
I like your rack idea. It is universal and that is important to me. Thanks for sharing. This would work great even mounted in a portable clamp rack module.
Perfect! Simple solutions always work best. Dumping my current rack that held clamps sideways and wasted space. Thanks!🙂
Thanks and good luck with the project!
Love this idea. Going to make one today. Perfect example of KISS. You are doing great work.
Thanks and good luck!
Perfect, simple design. I am in the process of cleaning up my workshop and have a few scraps that will work nicely for this. No need to hit the big box store. Thanks!
Great idea! Thanks dude!
Well thought out. I have a bunch of Bessy K bodies as well. If this rack works for them it will be exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for the idea!
Nice! Great solution especially for my situation where I need to keep my clamps flat to the wall, and I also have a random mix of types.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
The simplest the better, nail it.
Thanks!
Great and simple idea for the rack. What I appreciate even more is the use of a bar magnet to find stud locations. I have always used small round magnets but with the larger surface area of a bar, it will be so much quicker. I will glue it to a small wooden handle and masking tape over the magnet as not to mar finished walls. Thank you very much.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, the bar magnet is nice, but I recommend a narrow one so you can still get a fairly precise location on the screw head. Thanks again for taking the time to comment!
So much simpler than most solutions I've seen people do. Well done.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Awesome. I'll be making this. Thanks man.
No problem! Good luck with the build!
wow... extremely functional and very simple. I will be doing this as well. Thank you for sharing. I love your videos.
Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying my videos, and I appreciate you letting me know!
Great project!
Simplicity at it's best! I like it!
Thank you!
Just finished two of these for my clamps, thanks a lot for the idea!!
No problem! I hope you enjoy them!
Simple, effective and efficient - good job! Well done!
Thank you very much!
Perfect collection 😍
Great concept. Will be building mine soon and you saved me a lot of time and frustration, I'm sure :) Keep it up and thanks for sharing
Anyone can make something complicated, but solving a complicated problem with a simple solution: that's genius. Simplicity is true elegance.
Glad it helped!
Thanks the video, going to build this today, cheers 👍
Thanks for this, exactly what I need 👍🏼
Made it today. Perfectly simple, thanks.
I’m glad it worked out for you!
I built two of them today and they work perfectly. Thanks for the video.
Payton, that's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Probably the best clamp rack I’ve seen. Very simple, too many people seem to over complicate theirs!
Thank you!
This is exactly what I'm gonna do today. Great idea!
Thank you and good luck with the project!
Glad it works for you. I went for the conduit route. Also stacking them since i have about eight of each Harbor Freight size. I will need to come up with a nee method soon. I have out grown my current configuration, it lasted fifteen years.
15 years?! That system certainly earned its keep!
Best and simplest I have seen. Will be building for my little shop. Thank You
Thanks, and good luck with the project!
