  • ... as three folk traditions collide. Duo Anna & Elizabeth play Banjo, fiddle and guitar and draw their inspiration from the mountain music of Appalachia. Vocalist and saz virtuoso Asiq Nargile is from the Asiq tradition in Georgia, while Bady-Dorzhu Ondar from the Alash Ensemble is a master of harmonic Tuvan throat singing, a technique from the southern fringes of Siberia which allows a singer to produce multiple pitches simultaneously.

The interruptions in rythm would make clogging difficult.
I grew up listening to and playing bluegrass. I learned the guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and for years now have been playing the banjo. I know how to clog but am more of a singer. Northern China and Mongol music fits in perfectly with bluegrass. Bluegrass itself is something that came from African and Celtic roots, mixed in Appalachia. Appalachians are mostly the leftovers of those "given land" (in other words given the worst land) for service in the Revolutionary War in the US and freed slaves. So the music was interesting to begin with.
Persian and Middle Eastern music has too many stops and rythm interruptions to work with bluegrass or any sort of Appalachian music, and you could tell in this video the clogger had a tough time with it. Clogging, as a dance, should never be stopped. The clogger had to stop and just stand there while the singer went through her song. These musics do not match at all.

Love it! The singer's voice had a passionate tone. Loved the dancing mixed with the different instruments. Loved it.
