Hi Mandakini garu, stays fresh for atleast 3-4 days if the leaves are dark green in color, kurthu or center most leaves of coconut tree which is white or light green in color withers in 2 days... but the procedure takes very less time, generally men or kids do it in Kerala and Tamilnadu on the day of festival

You can make with properly sized palm leaf also, what we have shown in video is coconut leaf. Palm leaf would b shorter
