I appreciate this video. It seems like every repair is a minimum of $300 at my independent mechanic's shop. The dearler quoted $99 for the sensor alone. I found the OEM part on Ebay for under $18. I couldn't find a video specific to the Chevy Express before I started trying to replace the bank 2 senor 1 on my 98. It's a conversion and with running boards that further limits the working space. It looked like the access to the sensor would be better from the other side. That involved loosening the 2' or so heat shield (I didn't see any way to completely take it off), but I still didn't have working room to make the disconnect. So after watching this lesson, I tried it from the passenger side. Note, none of the videos I've looked at spend much time on uncoupling the sensor. In this case, the plastic connection end has a threaded stud that secures it to the top of the frame rail. Even with a strong light, you can't see much, but I managed to take a picture. I pried it up part of the way with a screw driver but had to break out one of my HF car upholstery tools with a pry bar end to get it out the rest of the way. Of course the blue connector that secures the two ends didn't survive when I undid that with the pliers, but I have a zip tie kit.

@@Mikey_Anthony actually on my van the previous owner that installed the O2 sensor put it on wrong where the wires touched the exhaust and melted them. But i replaced it and it worked great.

Great video. No bullshit or gimmick watch me act like a fool mechanic. Just get down and get r done. Maybe you should sale the parts also.

97 express 1500 5.7 . keep getting p0306 (cylinder 6 misfire) , replaced plugs, wires, coil, cap/rotor, all about a month before this. plug wasn't getting spark so i replaced it. seemed to work fine for a few days now its misfiring again with the same code.changed it again and did nothing. i pulled the bank 2 sensor 1 o2 sensor code once as well and thats been gone, it came up before i replaced the plug then it disapeared. im assuming thats the problem (hoping). 188,000 miles and i don't think they've been changed so i'm changing all the 02s (amazon or rock auto has them for half the price). Leaving details to hopefully be able to help someone else. as you stated, that code seems to not always be on.So misfires can possibly be the o2 sensor especially if you've already changed the basics. having the sputtering, stalling type rough idle and lack of power for symptoms.

returning the vehicle with the Service Light On..
That got fixed after replacing the head gasket/timing kit....

Sorry to ask at the end of the vide how come you still see the the engine light on?
I can't remember but I'm sure it had more than one problem. That's why the light was on
Nice video I have the same code on my 2000 Chevy express 2500 but i also having iss with the ENG 1 fuse keeps blowing any solution for that problem
If the fuse is blowing then there must be a shorted wire somewhere

My problem in my truck chevrolet 89 silverado 1500 is the light if service engine service iam chnage cables and oil and bujias and the light is same service engine season help please
The service engine light can be caused by anything , why did you change those parts without knowing whats wrong?you're already wasting money on parts that didnt fix it. Take it to a shop to get properly diagnosed.

I find gm connections are sometimes just bad and need cleaning
From this angle it looks like you dont have a frame...how on earth do you have such clear access to the sensor?

What model scanner are you using?
+chad Pressley it's a bosch,you can get them at orilleys auto parts.this one was about $200
what brand 02 sensor you put in

I had the same problem when I first installed the Bosch. I switch to ac Delco problem went away
+Domenic Scamorza some cars are picky on which sensors work. In this case the bosch worked. Glad you got your problem fixed.
What would a bad ohm be for that, I got 15 ohm
The heater circuit just needs continuity, to see if the sensor itself works you want to use a scanner to look at how the sensor responds
