Such a balanced one this. "Make your ego so big that nothing else matters" But on this one I am more with Kartikeya, and i do feel Shumi is probably missing out on a few things. Reminded of the old addage "When you want to gofast go alone, but when you want to go long go with company". Dream big for sure, but not to prove something to anyone else in life, but to ensure you are creating memories. My dream, drive the Porsche GT3 RS at the Nürburgring and own a Ferrari 458 to drive through the Italian country-side. Putting it out there so the universe conspires to bring it to fruition. Thanks again guys
Long before the FIRE movement gained traction, I dreamed of retiring early. But over time, I realized that life loses its charm if there's nothing worth living for. Now, I want to keep doing what I love and excel at it. My priorities are clear: happiness, health, and wealth, in that very order. As I embrace my mid-30s, I've discovered a newfound passion for riding and driving, which now brings me happiness. Whether I'll tour the world remains uncertain, but I find immense joy in the simple pleasures of commuting to the office or taking hour-long drives with my wife and daughter around the city. With each ride and new discovery, the dream of touring the world feels increasingly within reach.
Good to know there are people in their late 20's early 30's who have given FIRE some serious consideration. What it did for me was introduce some serious discipline, which in turn translated into discipline in practically all areas of my life. Life didn't loose any charm, on the contrary it made me realise how incompetent most of us are in almost all areas of life other than getting and holding on to a job and the necessary skill sets to do that. One starts questioning the cost, time and efforts needed to develop other skills.....and that gave me multiple targets to aim for. My job for me was then just a means of getting money so I could really live the life that I wanted to. I am not that into cars or bikes (was into bikes in my college days...but no more), but have over the past 15+ years developed a lot of interest in cycling. Got myself a good inexpensive geared cycle and absolutely enjoy my time cycling. Yes, I am not a millionaire but have the health, time and money to breathe in the beauty of nature through cycling. FIRE is something that every 18/20 yo kid needs to be made aware of. No point in "trying to be unique" by being a typical wage slave, when in today's world practically anyone can sign on a dotted piece of paper and get loans to buy the "look at me, I am unique" gadget/vehicle.
Got the busa last year .It was a dream come true. Took me a year to realise my motoring experiences on the classic 500 were more lovable and special .I was more anxious and nervous ,than enjoying my rides on the busa. Realised exactly that buying the busa didnt make me a better rider. Also realised my style of riding and roadtrips are more laid back and slow . Have no shame in selling it off and continuing to enjoy my weekend trips with the classic 500.😅🙈
@@eelongMastProbably because he connected his happiness to the bike, cause the bike is also the experience in itself and not just the style of driving
Every weekday, I ride to office and back, 75 kms. A fellow "biker" who owns a costlier bike told me that these kms don't count as riding. He does mountain rides and considers them only as experience. Relating to the experience vs ownership aspect, I am doing what i aspired with a motorcycle and so is he. Every day, 2 hours, I am on a motorcycle, honing a few skills, focused on the environment, and enjoying the experience.
The downside of dreaming too big is, if you are not fortunate enough, you see it straying away and away as time passes until a time comes that you realise that it isn't happening now, it won't be happening anytime soon and it cannot happen at all. That's when dreams shatter and then, even hard earned joy is sucked out. This is why having "Goals" is necessary in between what you have and what you dream. One step at a time!
Yes, we're fans of this approach as well @vardanrathi7777. But we say have a final goal/dream that you'd one day like to see happen as well. Shumi's goal oriented like that so he always has that in his mind in addition to taking things one step at a time. If that works for someone, they can adapt that. Or, one step at a time works too. 😊
I opened the comment section to write this and saw your comment already. I feel it's better to have practical goals rather than dreams as when dreams shatter you always have this pinch in your heart that "oh man, what I have is nice, good, I'm enjoying this but man if I couldn't get that, I wish I could get that" but you can't due to many reasons like your family problems or your financial conditions or any xyz reason and you keep on regretting that.
Rainy weather here in Kolkata, A lazy sunday , Comfortable bed and Coffee , And their conversation running in the background. Ample for automotive enthusiast to relax....
I got in to off-roading about a year ago at the tender age of 31. Over the past year I've learnt so much about bikes, how they work, how to maintain them, DIY'd stuff I never thgt I have the ability to do. Started learning how to ride off-road, attended trainings, track days, did an FMSCI race which I struggled a lot with but didn't end up a DNF. Started working on fitness, drink a lot less now, hoping to get over smoking soon. Sometimes I feel I'm living the dreams I had as a teenager. Now I dream of doing INRC, just 1 season, do every leg of it, results don't matter.😊 PS:I love Motorinc, hope I'll get to meet you guys some day, soon.
I remember last year when My dad and I were shopping for our first " premium bike" I had an early booking for the speed 400. When we went to the showroom my dad instantly fell in love with street triple😂 He was instantly prepared to pay for it when I told him "12-15 lakh ki super bike hai"😂 We were shopping around so when we went to BMW motorad he wanted to get the F900XR. I had to explain to him that we'd get into big big trouble on the road if we instantly went to the 650cc+ class. Then I had to explain to him the how many BHP we could control at our skill level ~ 25-40bhp
Glad to see that the 10-year old in him is still very much alive n kicking!! ♥️♥️ Pretty sure that this would have been a fun experience for you as well 😄
@@predatoranky03 it was sensational ✨ Cus I taught him about USDs and aluminium swing arms and tyre sizes and cost cutting and all the lil details so he'd question the shopkeepers about everything so they'd become nervous 🤣
Sundays and ThisConnect, are you guys a match or what? Not just cars and motorcycles, things you can actually extrapolate and apply in your day to day lives. ❤ The part about magazines and posters of Ferraris and Lambos and Harleys. Nostalgia ❤
What a pleasant episode is this!! Just landed in India, done with customs and boarded a cab with heavy rains outside and I get to see this. Happy Saturday indeed!!!
I love this channel with all my heart! Precisely the type of logical discussion I have always wanted to listen to! Such knowledge, experience presented with grace! Genius guys! I wish this channel nothing but prosperity! Cheers!
I can't believe just how close to home this episode hit. I happen to be a person who rode motorcycles back in college and soon after (the Yamaha rxz 5 gear)....it was unfortunately stolen around the time I turned 27...I am now 40 and planning to buy a motorcycle. Booked the scrambler 400x and I've been thinking about a lot of the stuff you guys have been talking about. Thanks to the both of you, i am going into this with a realistic mindset that includes starting slow and carefully...in the decade and half in between, it's just been scooters over short distances and the odd test ride to get the blood flowing:) Keep up the great work guys, This Connect has been a part of my weekly schedule!
One of my friends had a polo gt tsi the one with 1.2 4 cylinder. I absolutely loved it and he didn't drive it much and it used to make me so mad that the car was such a garage queen. It was my dream car, and I'm a tourer so i used to love its capabilities and used to think, imagine this car in a sedan form and with a skoda design and suspension behaviour like the entry level luxury cars of that time (3series, c class, etc.) 10 years down when i had to buy one, Skoda slavia was launched with a 1.5 tsi and the decision was just made for me, it ticks all the boxes for me. I've driven it 20k in a year and absolutely love the experience. What I've also realised is that i dont think i need anything better than this. Its got all the features I need and the performance is quite adequate for indian roads. When i had the dream i dreamt of what experience i want to have and not what brand or budget i want to go for.
Experiences>>>Equipment Level.... This is so true..... As a Kid I have always loved playing football. I always aspired to own a pair of expensive classy looking Adidas cleats... and one day I did eventually got them... They were absolutely awesome... so much fun to play in... but with time everyone I used to play with grew up and the regular football games went from everyday to once a week and now barely onnce or twice a month...and I didn't really get to use them a lot.... Now in college I barely get time time to play football but whenever I see someone playing now matter and no matter what shoes i have on(or no shoes) I just go and have fun(even if just for 15-20 mins).... My cleats are still there but football is fun with or without them as long as the ball there... so just do the activity you enjoy even if you don't own or have the top class equipment with you....
Such a brilliant topic to cover! This actually aligns with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs - Ownership is about "esteem" whole Experience-oriented living is the highest form of "self-actualisation".
A nice cloudy cold afternoon in Bangalore turned warm and nostalgic as I started watching this. I remember being fascinated watching the Knight Rider car, and looking at the omnis, rajdoots and yezdis on the roads. And boy did I imagine futuristic cars, and draw out the most outrageous vehicles i could think of drawing inspiration from the Knight Rider. Then as I grew up, I discovered TopGear and dreamt of the longest road trips. Now been about 10 years since I bought my ns200, then a car and long road trips around the country. You guys have now stoked that fire in me to upgrade my bike and return to riding. Waiting for the bike delivery this week and hit the open roads again😊
I am in awe of Shumi’s personality. I need that clarity of thought in my life. I will probably get there as time passes. The things that you guys talk about aren’t mere driving lessons but those are life experiences. It surely adds value. I thoroughly enjoy it. I hear your podcasts during my commute hours. More power to you. 😊
Brilliant. Precise. Rational. Terrific....from the Lawyer who enjoyed the RD 350, in an time when it was a real dream and then moved on....having shared the dream with others, who now have moved higher...as with bikes, cars, so on with their professional lives...well done, guys...
Just wow! I remember my dream when I got a Yellow Ducati 999 toy model on Christmas Eve in 1996 or '98. I was like, "Wow, one day..." For cars, it all started with Need for Speed five, the Porsche edition. That's when I realized how that company managed to maintain a certain design over the years yet still looks so new. That's when it hit me. I also remember making a scrapbook of cutouts of cars and bikes from magazines and papers. I know in the early 2000s, I had a few with you guys in it, and later, the internet became the source for all the madness. Being an enthusiast, I started riding at age 12 and driving at age 14, and everything since then has been about being a petrol head. I've wanted to do Ladakh for the last eight years but could never make it happen, so thanks for making me realize how little time we have. My heart goes out to Shumi sir for the way he's honest about things. I'm yet to catch up on a few more episodes; I'll do it shortly. Love your content, and thank you for everything you have been doing and sharing.
This Series of Podcasts with K&S is The Best Thing That Has Happened in My Motoring Content Viewing Experience. Its The Right Balance Similar To a Proper Wheel Alignment... Dream is to Enjoy Every Drive and It Is Not Vehicle Specific...
This podcast for me and the topic means so much more due to the discussion of chasing the experience over the material in itself. I consider myself ridiculously lucky having have gotten the opportunity to own and ride a Royal Enfield interceptor at the age of 21 I cannot explain how blessed I feel for just 5 years ago I was a teenage boy dreaming of owning the same bike after seeing it outside the motorcycle showroom. The universe has been extremely kind to me in that way, and this podcast perfectly encompasses the necessity I feel to change my perspective and chase experiences which in this case would be to use my motorcycle to its max testing myself and becoming the best and most responsible rider I can be and explore my country on two wheels which I feel will make far greater stories than just owning the bike, which I think despite my second to none love I feel for my interceptor I don’t think if I were to do the same experiences on any other bike would change my story, just the fact that I can do it on this I cannot explain more how kind the universe has been. I don’t comment usually but this is just my way of if I can somehow thank god for his blessings and my parents. And Shumi sir, I share the same dream bike in the future as the one u own which is the aprilia tuono v4 purely on the grounds to keep my aspirations higher and to chase the dream but until that comes true my experience with the interceptor will continue till my last breath and that I can guarantee. Thanks to both you guys and motorinc in general for widening my perspective and enabling me to appreciate what I hav even more and I cannot explain in words how much more beautiful your words, thoughts and ideology hav made my life and my experiences I feel with my bike. Thanks a lot Just finished an 800 km tour from. Bangalore to Hampi and back in one day, don’t see this being possible without your inspiration. Hope this is the first of many. Hope to see u on the road some day❤
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experiences with us @jeevan3081. And for joining us for this. We wish you good luck for your future rides and aspirations. 🤞🏾
What a great conversation, extreme views and perfect balance. Montorinc is now officially part of our Sundays. A bitter sweat wish where I feel this channel should grow huge, but then also want this experience to be personal and connected to you guys❤
I work in Bangalore and recently learnt riding bikes. I learnt it the hard way in traffic and feel pretty confident. I have many times thought about purchasing a bike but in practicality it will be a hassle to travel 13km up and 13km down to office everyday. I love riding so much that I would do that too but the experience of joy while riding will not be that great. Instead I rent a bike once every month and go on long trips. Once I am financially better off, I might travel once a week. For office, I usually take the bus which costs less and takes more time which is actually good because then it gives me the time to listen to Motorinc podcasts.
Thanks to the motorinc I learned something today. I have been saving money for quite some time to upgrade my vehicle. I am a college student so yeah, it's quite difficult. I am halfway through the money stuff and now I feel like an idiot. Because as soon as I completed this podcast, I checked my Rayzr odometer and it's just 7,777km. Now I realize how much I could have done with what I have rather than just saving money for a bike when I haven't used up my current vehicle yet.
As a school kid of the early 2000s I used to be fascinated by big manly looking 4x4 SUVs & all the other kids used to call me weird for preferring vehicles that looked like trucks while all the other kids liked sports cars. Now it’s them who are buying the not so SUV SUVs and I prefer sedans over today’s so called SUVs. My dream car is still the first Gen Safari. That was the first SUV I had seen with a non boxy aerodynamic curvy design and a tailgate mounted spare wheel at that time. A gorgeous looking monster. I still admire that car.
The best that has come out of @motorinc. Reviews yes, opinions yes, experiences yes, but this podcast is just a level above the rest. And rest I mean all of UA-cam! Watched this on 14 Sept. Few days after selling my R3 and pondering on an "upgrade". Realised that I could have done much more on the R3 than a certain 1500 km trip. Ah! Those COVID days! Thanks you Shumi and Kartikeya! 🙏 And yes, ego bigger than anything! 😅 Love that!
@@motorinc One question. After doing a thorough research on the bike to purchase. Are modifications necessary? And when to decide that the bike is due for a modification (if necessary) I love to ride my bike bone stock as my thought is that, the manufacturers R&D has put in hours to give a product. Why mess with it?
Just loved this episode....!So much to relate so much to understand. Value experiences more than ownership. That thing jus hit hard and the way you guys change our perception and perspective about cars and bikes is inspiring to say the least. The way you have explained how vibrations, comfort, practicality, engine heat, torque and other aspects can change a person's decision making to buy their dream bike was thought provoking. Keep sharing all your experiences of bikes and cars. We love it and cant get enough of it ❤❤❤❤❤
Todo list starting at 40 mins is all we need to View and Hear each night before bedtime and each morning before we step out of bed or with our 1st coffee ❤
This is a really relatable episode for me. My aspiration for the longest time was to own a Skoda because of how the first gen Octavia showed me what premium felt like. Owning one always felt like it would be something I would achieve much later in life. Fortunately, when it came time for me to buy my first car, the Kushaq was right there. Having attained it, my aspirations have now shifted towards exploring the country in my car, finding what the car and my limits are. I'm also aspiring to hit the track with this car. The idea of owning something else does come but it's not enough to replace what I already have and what I plan on doing with it.
Finally I know and have to acknowledge why most of the time I'm least bothered about what others are doing. 🎉 Also, this podcast reminded me what I want to achieve ultimately (The Dreams) and that I will do it as well, based on whatever I've done so far and will do. Thanks to both of you!
My story is one of a very few stories where the person from the company changed and swayed this to me About 10 years ago I used to live very close to the porsche service centre here in bengaluru And I had no interests in cars and other stuff whatsoever but had basic knowledge like the first few names in the world of premium cars like the Lamborghini but nothing serious but was always fascinated by the looks of a porsche like the Cayenne but I was not really in love with it But one day when i saw the boxster in that beautiful red colour they had it was mind-blowing I have not yet forgotten the date It was 31st january 2014 The manager of the service centre was brilliant guy he let me touch that car and when speaking with my father he told us that it was freshly imported from germany and was being unloaded from the trucks which had come in from Chennai he let me touch that art peice of a convertible and I have taken a vow that one day i would be able to buy that car Hopefully 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Amazing discussion. Amongst the many valuable points that were covered the one which immediately got highlighted and I could connect to was when Shumi said " I think aspiration is important but I think waiting for a certain acquisition to start the process of doing stuff with our life is a bad way to approach this..". Also Experiences> Ownership, xuv 500- BMW X1 instance, finding joy in driving the classic etc.
Question is not price, its value. What's it that gives me maximum value for money, use and pleasure. I've literally driven two versions of the same car over a decade and half and changed as a driver in this time. But still love every drive.
As humans, many of us have aspirations to own cars or bikes. I used to admire big vehicles and imagine myself owning them. Often, just by looks alone, my mind would gravitate towards a particular car or bike that seemed appealing within my budget. However, instead of merely entertaining the thought of "I should buy that car or bike someday," I now take proactive steps like test driving it. This hands-on experience provides me with a clearer understanding of what the vehicle is really like. If it lives up to my expectations during the test drive, I continue to desire owning it. But more often than not, after the test drive, the initial allure of that specific car or bike fades away if it doesn't meet my expectations. Happy motoring 😄
Motorinc bring in the same feeling resonance as us, it's really ❤ when kartikeya tells his brother the story of how his brother bmw left tyres cut and the mindset they had how a premium car wasn't able to do what we dream of this premium machinery should have done ✅. Love the content and glad to be subscribing ❤
it's sunday morning , Felt anxious and Feared with the life . I came across your video and it made me calm . Thanks to the 2 gentlemen in the video . 😀😀
When I was growing up I loved BMW's, They have lost it now, But still love the E31 850CSI, Still looks modern. Never forgot the drive I had in it. I would still like to get my hands on that. A manual V12. Need I say more. Their is also one more thing you guys are missing, The fun of maintaining your dream car / bike. I am a DIY person, Even if it's an engine rebuild. That is true joy. The satisfaction of doing it right is awesome. you may have to pay a little for a workshop manual, but it's worth it.
Thanks for sharing @indrjithbdeva817! We have talked about DIY before but it isn't as prevalent a thing as it is in say, the US. With companies being very strict on warranties, people just don't want to make an effort as well add the challenges of vehicles being made irrelevant faster than ever and it only gets more difficult. We'd like to see it change though.
Thats actually a very unique way to apply leaves. Gotta try that... thanks Shumi, I also would like to own a big bike someday, but right now quite happy going on tours on my current motorcycle ( Hunter 350). Yesterday only completed the solo 700kms ride back. Had tremendous fun, riding in rain and through the western ghats... And as you guys discussed in season 1, planning for a big bike and accumulating the money in a bike fund, is the best way to do, because then the temptation also rises as the amount rises, and the list of things I want to do with the motorcycle.
On this topic, the adage- Don't ever meet your heroes, comes to mind. The BMW example was exactly this. For long standing aspirations, I guess we need to realise that our aspirational objects age too. Tempering aspirations is key! Also, as a species, i think we are far away from putting experiences beyond objects anytime soon. I think the shiniest and newest always appeals to us at a very basic evolutionary level. The owner of LV and related brands is the richest person alive for a reason!!
A competitive lap on Silverstone and Nürburgring and a lazy touring on NC 500 or across the length of vietnam is something I aim to do before turning 40. Anyone wish to plan the same? Need company, dont want to do this alone. And @motorinc team, Keep up the good work as always. Salud!!
@@motorinc if motorinc team is willing to do any one of it, just give me a reply on this. I will get my schedule clear. Honestly it will be a dream come true.( for Germany and england scotland i need intimation priorly as visa for us lesser mortals can take a bit of time, vietnam toh kal chalo. :p)
We are missing the experience ya'll have going 1400 km to and fro and enjoying the track day and. I feel its time we see more of what you do off the MotorInc as well.
Loved the part wherein the conversation was, aspire, but do enjoy what you currently have, because what you currently own got you where you want to be and will lead you to your aspiration..!! I own an 18 yrs young pulsar 150, and it sure takes me to places still and I thoroughly enjoy it. Of course there is an aspiration for a bigger bike and more places that I will I can do easily.
Brilliant episode. I love the way you guys approach the topic and then come up with two drastically different approaches having the same soul. It’s just pure entertainment and of course learning listening you guys. Keep it up… I loved the XUV V/s BMW example. Made me thinking .. And thank you for that insight, both of you. Love and Regards.❤😇
My family never had that fascination towards automobiles because of our financial condition. It was me who started everything on a bicycle. Dreamt of owning a big bike in my childhood although my dream at that time was to own an apache 180(big bike in my POV) which was way back in 2007 and I was not even 10 by that point of time. This created a fascination towards bikes and I've never stopped dreaming of owning a bike. But never had the luxury to ride them because we had no bikes/cars and were dependent on public transport till 2019 after which my family decided to buy an activa for me(I was the only rider back then but now my brother also llearnt how to ride it). It took more than two decades for us to ride our two wheeler but was all worth it. But now after turning 25, I've my dreams changed as I have wider perspective. Hopefully with efforts and dedication, I'll chase my dream of exploring most of the parts of India.
At 46:40 it just occurred to me that shumi is talking about 'in silence grows sadhana ' . The ego here is the headspace that keeps us involved and almost engulfed with our passion and purpose that everyting else fades away . Something we experience at high speeds ' a tunnel view ' . At that moment we dare to think or care about anything else .
6:26 gentleman on the left, explains it beautifully in a poetic way and then the gentleman on the right, rewords it in a transactional/dry way. What an interesting contrast.
Try and understand. The gentleman on the left is nice, easygoing, what you say is good people. The gentleman on the right has been battle hardened thick skinned warrior that has seen stuff. So yeh sure make your judgement but asking why behind of something is always good.
Obviously. Just trying to go into why of these things and why these two has so polar opposite personalities and that obviously makes it interesting and why we love these two so much.
@@TheCoolhotshot123 What makes you think that the gentleman on the left has not "been battle hardened thick skinned warrior that has seen stuff" ? Their views are a take on perspectives rather than anecdotal list of things they've seen and not seen, and I seriously don't think one surpasses the other.
According to me everyone should watch the UA-cam channel c90 adventures. It’s basically a guy travelling the world on a Honda c90 and spending peanuts. Basically summarises what Karthik kept stressing on.
The reason i love K&S is for 31:03 to 31:09.... superb, realistic! and 33:44 to 33:48.. "nothing is ever unlocked automatically"... and 48:01 to 48:15 ... like I said before... we need LifeInc channel....
To be honest this podcast was so so good. Each and every part of the discussion was amazing. And that part when Shumi said " kaun hai tu" 🤣🤣🤣 I could literally relate this to my life🤣🤣. This is the best podcast according to me in this season till now.
This was a fabulous discussion, though I felt a roadmap could've been given for a clearer takeaway. For eg., whenever you're thinking of buying a car, ask yourself, "What could I want if money wasn't an issue?" Start with most aspirational and analyse what aspects of and associations with the car underpin your desire for it. Is it just brand value or something deeper like anecdotal tales of brilliant performance or reliability, or shallower, like a standout design? Then work in your budget and attempt to buy a version of that aspiration. I''m completely Shumi in terms of mental makeup, i.e. when he talks of ego as a way of self-absorption, as an almost unconscious disdain of others' opinions of you, I relate to that. But I'm Karthikeya in terms of decision making. I don't feel a ticking clock over me nor do I feel any sense of FOMO. Once again, this was a fab discussion, a welcome departure from last weekend's valuable but slightly morbid one.I look forward to the next one. Keep it up!
45:25 is a very unpopular but brilliant sentiment. If you get to the point where you're really familiar with your bikes strengths and weaknesses (and your own), and you have a set plan and work on meaningful upgrades to your bike (and yourself), and you have done enough trips on your bike (and experiences in your life) and know how to fix your bike yourself (or your mind) when things break down .... If you do all this - whether by age 20 or 80(at least), you reached the point where comparisons are meaningless - you're not looking to be like someone else or have what someone else has or do what someone else does - You can have genuine respect and admiration for all of that, without making someone else's experience a benchmark. You don't really focus on others, you remain in your own self. Its not "self-ish" but "self engaged"
35:45 I remember having some gala time and we were just discussing about it Though my dream of owning a porsche would be there but we just joking around "Whats the difference between the GT3 rs and nano 1.Both are rare wheel drives and 2. Accommodate 2 people easily and comfartably Also its more fun to drive fast in slow vehicle than a vehicle in which 140 feels effortless I mean from fun point of view" So this just reminds me of that
@@motorinc I wait for MotorInc videos on Thursdays and Sundays like I used to wait for Top Gear episodes back in the early- to mid-2000s! You have some of the BEST content on UA-cam 😊👍
Also instead of saying "be so egotistical" we could focus on self-respect as the value? That has all the elements of what Shumi is trying to say without the negative connotations associated with the word "ego." Self-respect is hugely powerful and is the stepping stone, IMO, to loving and respecting others without falling into the competition hustle nonsense that is pushed down our throats, everywhere.
Rohan Joshi in an interview once said “don’t walk like you own the world. walk like you don’t care who does.” Shumi’s ego statement reminds me of that. Words to live by :)
Somehow this channel is not just restricted to cars/bikes but gives you subtle life lessons as well. I started listening to you guys 10 days back and apparently can't stop.
Bought my first bike Enfield Machismo 350 in 1999.In love with it since . Has its pros and cons .Cons All drum brakes ,doesn't like to go above 60 , ain't much powerful. Rebuilt engine6-7 times. I will definitely keep it forever. Had picture in my mind about its upgrade from a long time . Has to be above 800cc, disc brakes front and back with ABS, monoshock in rear , v twin engine, belt drive 6 gears, tank mounted dials, full rear fender no chopped ones price around 5 lakh , service around Rs 3000,,Service duration of 10,000 km or 1 year affordable parts more macho than 350cc . only harleys (lowrider type) tick all these boxes but do not justify ridiculously high price, service ,parts. Enfield under siddhart lal went to parallel twin way ,never felt connected to this philosophy .Still hope against hope that somebody will make it . Don't know why companies are not going this way.
Air cooled V engines have their engineering challenges. The 270 Parallel Twin is the sweet spot in terms of many variables including emissions norms and power delivery for all round bikes.
Now I really need a t-shirt with print "Tu kon hai?" 😂😂😂 My psychi is also same in this aspect that you should dream and hit for an epic thing rather than settling down in despair that this is the best I can do. It pushes me to be better. Great podcast guys.
My friends say i like bikes , they dont know i love the roads and bikes are just what brings me the closest to it , if possible I'd like to keep always moving man used to be a nomad i think that's why i have this primal urge for movement, thanks to the motorinc team helping me recognize my dream and distinguish it from a salary or a job .
I thought I commented this morning... Growing up, we have had the Chetak, the RX100 and a 1975 Nissan Sunny...either standing on the foot board of the Chetak controlling the steering on the empty road or listening to the music at the back seat of the sunny. All these led to me fall in love with the Bikes and Cars. Until I was at my legal age, our garage had only one Bike(one of a kind-Nepal made in collaboration with China) left.since then dreams have changed from Karizma,Apache rtr 180, Pulsar 220f, the NS 200,etc...and owning one that I dreamt is still pending...
@@motorinc I guess the Hybrid meant the Bike.. and its Siman 😅 Lets begin, in early 2000s alot of chinese brands of bikes like Lifan, Suzuki GN125(its was chinese), and cars like zoyte, cherry etc entered in Nepali market, though they did not last for a long period due to lack of service and spares..But along with that a company named Cosmic Yingyang establised an assembly plant in Nepal and in 2004 the 1st model launched was Cosmic Yingyang YG100-12. It was a 100cc bike that came with a self starter with engine kill switch, analog tacho and speedo meter with trip meter, gear position indicator, 4speed gearbox with rotation type shift(I dont know the actual term), 18" alloy wheels, front disc with dual piston caliper. With all this feature at that period of time it was launched at a price of just 60,000 Nepalese currency(37k INR) where as the splender would cost about a lakh then. I would say the bike was good looking, decent power, reliable(my dad rode it for almost 14years), the only issue was the unavailabilty of the spareparts. The company shut down after few years due to our Government's bad policies... At present it is not in working condition but we still have that bike..its an emotion..now my dad rides a 2017 Pulsar 150..

I guess this discussion boils down to the age old question and something you guys mentioned in one of your earlier discussions about "Needs and Wants".
It's spot on. Aspiration for a thing is fine, but equating it with status or to impress people or just through social media consumption is not right. All materialistic things with requires empirical assessment and personal satisfaction is a must (it is not a abstract thing so). If someone dips as the piggy back into the pond of equating it with status or impressing people they have to go through the way of HELL. where HEAVEN is near. once again thank you for such fabulous content, karthik and shumi. :D
Great discussion guys …. I think our dreams get rationalised with age and experience. My sons always speak about buying a Lamborghini or a Ferrari when they grow up as they have seen videos of those cars, the way they look they sound and the speed at which they travel. But they are not at the age where they realise the impracticality they bring to the table in our country. But for me the dream is to have something which i can use to the fullest. Like karthikeya mentioned about a ducati v4, heck i will not buy it as i have seen my friend hurrying on their breakfast as riding back home through city will be difficult for them. I even ride by CBR to buy milk. Sometimes when i hear people are getting superbikes on the market which 3 years old and 3k on the odo i get scared, my bike is 14k in 18 months what will people think when i am trying to sell it. But what the heck i am enjoying it i am living my dream, i am riding it whenever i want and ti wherever i want. I just want to say if you one of the blessed person who are able to buy you dream car bike or anything use it to the fullest. We do not have dreams and aspirations just to keep them in the showcase. I feel sorry and sad for people who buy things thinking that these will change peoples perceptions. Keep up the great work and the episodes coming.
Putting things in a showcase is as valid an ambition as any, but yes we agree with what you mean. Buying a thing and not using it to the fullest does seem silly

Thanks for sharing your take @surajshanbhag! And for joining us. 😄
Kinda similar to what I have always dreamt of. The ring and a porsche GT3 ❤
I want MotorInc to prosper, but I kinda want it to be a niche too. Love this channel and these guys!
Hahaha! We feel plenty prosperous thanks to these conversations! 😁
We are a niche community so I don't think social media will impact our mindset in anyways.
Couldn't agree with you more.

Hey NJ! Loved reading that Felt we were there with you! Drive more if it gets you to write this... 👏🏽
Hey AK, more power to you! Glad you found your sweet spot.
down from busa there are many roadsters or cruisers .. why you skipped those and settled down for 500, reason?
@@eelongMastProbably because he connected his happiness to the bike, cause the bike is also the experience in itself and not just the style of driving
@@eelongMastMay be he is waiting for classic 650 😂

Every weekday, I ride to office and back, 75 kms. A fellow "biker" who owns a costlier bike told me that these kms don't count as riding. He does mountain rides and considers them only as experience.
Relating to the experience vs ownership aspect, I am doing what i aspired with a motorcycle and so is he. Every day, 2 hours, I am on a motorcycle, honing a few skills, focused on the environment, and enjoying the experience.
😑
You enjoy your time. Thassall!
I am putting 86-87 kms up and down everyday to work in an iqube due to fuel prices.
OMG! 75 km commute that means 400 km travel just in commuting in a week time period!! That sounds amazing man. Btw which city do you reside in?

If you are, good luck @akhilkhanuja5078!
Well said.
Man this is so true.. but still would dream and strive for it.
@@adityasolanke2434 Absolutely! Dream big but the path to it should be followed step-wise, each step being a goal :)

Now I dream of doing INRC, just 1 season, do every leg of it, results don't matter.😊
PS:I love Motorinc, hope I'll get to meet you guys some day, soon.
Awesome! That's excellent progress Anand! Best of luck and more power to you!
I remember last year when My dad and I were shopping for our first " premium bike" I had an early booking for the speed 400.
When we went to the showroom my dad instantly fell in love with street triple😂
He was instantly prepared to pay for it when I told him "12-15 lakh ki super bike hai"😂
We were shopping around so when we went to BMW motorad he wanted to get the F900XR.
I had to explain to him that we'd get into big big trouble on the road if we instantly went to the 650cc+ class.
Then I had to explain to him the how many BHP we could control at our skill level
~ 25-40bhp
Good work @shadow_realm47! We love your dad's ability to be swayed by premium motorcycles though - please say hi to him from all of us!

It was my dream car, and I'm a tourer so i used to love its capabilities and used to think, imagine this car in a sedan form and with a skoda design and suspension behaviour like the entry level luxury cars of that time (3series, c class, etc.)
10 years down when i had to buy one, Skoda slavia was launched with a 1.5 tsi and the decision was just made for me, it ticks all the boxes for me. I've driven it 20k in a year and absolutely love the experience. What I've also realised is that i dont think i need anything better than this. Its got all the features I need and the performance is quite adequate for indian roads.
When i had the dream i dreamt of what experience i want to have and not what brand or budget i want to go for.
Most awesome! Thanks TD390G! Glad you chose the non-SUV. 😁

Thanks a lot

Love it how we started with simple bikes and cars, and ended with that deep philosophical thought. Love it!!
They are life for us…
Thanks to the motorinc I learned something today.
Absolutely! All the best, so much to do! Less is more. Keep us posted on plans. 😁

Make the most of it MS! May you travel well!

My story is one of a very few stories where the person from the company changed and swayed this to me
About 10 years ago I used to live very close to the porsche service centre here in bengaluru
And I had no interests in cars and other stuff whatsoever
but had basic knowledge like the first few names in the world of premium cars like the Lamborghini but nothing serious but was always fascinated by the looks of a porsche like the Cayenne but I was not really in love with it
But one day when i saw the boxster in that beautiful red colour they had it was mind-blowing I have not yet forgotten the date
It was 31st january 2014
The manager of the service centre was brilliant guy he let me touch that car and when speaking with my father he told us that it was freshly imported from germany and was being unloaded from the trucks which had come in from Chennai
he let me touch that art peice of a convertible and I have taken a vow that one day i would be able to buy that car
Hopefully 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
All the best! We can almost see the afternoon in front of us! ❤️ Thanks for sharing.

Perfect! That's always what we recommend @rahulchandru3663.
❤@@motorinc
Motorinc bring in the same feeling resonance as us, it's really ❤ when kartikeya tells his brother the story of how his brother bmw left tyres cut and the mindset they had how a premium car wasn't able to do what we dream of this premium machinery should have done ✅. Love the content and glad to be subscribing ❤
Thanks P! Glad to hear from you.
it's sunday morning , Felt anxious and Feared with the life . I came across your video and it made me calm . Thanks to the 2 gentlemen in the video . 😀😀
Glad we could help SR! Take care!
Man oh man this podcast is such an experience, love love
Thanks GS! ❤️
Listening to the podcast and working on my motorcycle. Perfect Sunday.
Awesome! Have a good one SS!
Thats actually a very unique way to apply leaves. Gotta try that... thanks Shumi,
I also would like to own a big bike someday, but right now quite happy going on tours on my current motorcycle ( Hunter 350).
Hello SC! There’s lots of fun to be had with that Hunter! Enjoy!
@@motorinc fully intend on that. daily commute, touring... and in monsoons.... offroad as well. haha
We can work on ourselves? Makes all the difference.
@@motorinc Definitely!!
A competitive lap on Silverstone and Nürburgring and a lazy touring on NC 500 or across the length of vietnam is something I aim to do before turning 40. Anyone wish to plan the same? Need company, dont want to do this alone.
And @motorinc team, Keep up the good work as always. Salud!!
All the best PJ! We love the sound of both. What timelines?
Thanks GNG for letting us into your life! ❤️
Love to listen to you both...such mature talk.. lot to learn...👍
Thank you for joining us @adilohia09.
Brilliant episode. I love the way you guys approach the topic and then come up with two drastically different approaches having the same soul. It’s just pure entertainment and of course learning listening you guys. Keep it up…
I loved the XUV V/s BMW example. Made me thinking .. And thank you for that insight, both of you.

Thank you for joining us @MrDushyant23.
Now that sounds fantastic! Wish you the best for your travels ST! Keep us posted please. Start near, go far.
@@motorinc thank you guys❤️❤️
At 46:40 it just occurred to me that shumi is talking about 'in silence grows sadhana ' . The ego here is the headspace that keeps us involved and almost engulfed with our passion and purpose that everyting else fades away . Something we experience at high speeds ' a tunnel view ' . At that moment we dare to think or care about anything else .
As for bikes n cars.... finally it's best to have them as 'tools that you use for something you want to do with a pinch of pride n joy '
Thank you for the philosophical clarity Jiten. And for joining us.😊
Always waiting every Sunday morning for your videos, keep this going on guys loved this one.❤
Thanks for joining us Ajay!
6:26 gentleman on the left, explains it beautifully in a poetic way and then the gentleman on the right, rewords it in a transactional/dry way. What an interesting contrast.
Glad you're enjoying the MotorInc experience!
Try and understand. The gentleman on the left is nice, easygoing, what you say is good people. The gentleman on the right has been battle hardened thick skinned warrior that has seen stuff. So yeh sure make your judgement but asking why behind of something is always good.
I think you're saying what the OP also said, @TheCoolhotshot123 😊
I have watched all his videos during my college days and That guy is living his life as a free as anyone can imagine
Thanks for the recommendation TK! Checking!
The reason i love K&S is for 31:03 to 31:09.... superb, realistic! and 33:44 to 33:48.. "nothing is ever unlocked automatically"... and 48:01 to 48:15 ... like I said before... we need LifeInc channel....
🙏🏾🙏🏾
Such a great episode as always! Love tuning in every week❤
Thanks E!
To be honest this podcast was so so good. Each and every part of the discussion was amazing. And that part when Shumi said " kaun hai tu" 🤣🤣🤣 I could literally relate this to my life🤣🤣. This is the best podcast according to me in this season till now.
Hehehe!
"thisconnect" is just pure Trance.
Thank you TWB! 🙏🏾
Keep it up!
Good to know you better Kunal. 😁 Loved hearing about you.
On the way back to home from a solo BF ride, excited to reach home and see this podcast. Otherwise return rides are usually less interesting.
Awesome! Safe ride!
Well said! Travel well!
35:45 I remember having some gala time and we were just discussing about it
Though my dream of owning a porsche would be there but we just joking around "Whats the difference between the GT3 rs and nano
1.Both are rare wheel drives and
2. Accommodate 2 people easily and comfartably
Also its more fun to drive fast in slow vehicle than a vehicle in which 140 feels effortless
I mean from fun point of view"
So this just reminds me of that
That's a very interesting way of looking at life @kshitijpandey6514😅
Honestly, would love a MotorInc poster
Thanks for the recommendation! A Shumi quote?
@@motorinc Absolutely!!
@@motorinc oooo, I gotta put some thought into this. He has a lot fun and powerful quotes.

One of the most interesting conversations on MotorInc in recent months 👍👍

♥️
Also instead of saying "be so egotistical" we could focus on self-respect as the value? That has all the elements of what Shumi is trying to say without the negative connotations associated with the word "ego." Self-respect is hugely powerful and is the stepping stone, IMO, to loving and respecting others without falling into the competition hustle nonsense that is pushed down our throats, everywhere.
Thank you for sharing your take @arjunkovoor9488. Take it in a way that makes sense to you!
Rohan Joshi in an interview once said “don’t walk like you own the world. walk like you don’t care who does.”
Shumi’s ego statement reminds me of that. Words to live by :)
Powerful words indeed @thebaconbaba.
Somehow this channel is not just restricted to cars/bikes but gives you subtle life lessons as well. I started listening to you guys 10 days back and apparently can't stop.
Glad to hear that @ankeetsharma3186! Thanks for sharing.
Probably the best episode 🎉
Thanks @mistory1
Thanks for sharing your dream bike Bali!
And for the explanation Vivek!
Now I really need a t-shirt with print "Tu kon hai?" 😂😂😂

Hi @notad3tya129! Keep moving! ♥️
Bro you spoke my heart out!!🤜
I thought I commented this morning...
All the best Siman! Tell us more about that hybrid vehicle of yours. 🙏🏾
@@motorinc I guess the Hybrid meant the Bike.. and its Siman 😅
Lets begin, in early 2000s alot of chinese brands of bikes like Lifan, Suzuki GN125(its was chinese), and cars like zoyte, cherry etc entered in Nepali market, though they did not last for a long period due to lack of service and spares..But along with that a company named Cosmic Yingyang establised an assembly plant in Nepal and in 2004 the 1st model launched was Cosmic Yingyang YG100-12.

Indeed @rawalsushant. We'd like people to introspect about the difference.
I love your podcast style shows. Do you realise that even Autocar have recently started a similar format. I feel yours is much better and informative.

Woke up yet again to a MotorInc Morning!
How's it going Mayank!?
@@motorinc You’ve got the name wrong but i get the spirit of the message right, and yes I’m really great, thanks for asking!
Oops! Fixed - apologies!
Thanks P! That path has to be walked. Some travel through it lightly and quickly. 😁
@@motorinc yes after all experience is the better teacher!
