#Kitbashedsurvival for fun, have you ever thought to do a video of you and some mates trying to refold a space blanket or poncho into the small bag it came in? I am amazed that these can even fit in those small bags. Once you displayed the bag, I had hope, given the wings aspect. It looked like some excellent handy storage. Once you showed the actual interior and content, my faith diminished. Rather than the bungee, or in addition, I'd have added an extra pouch pocket. C for the bag, as I do like the design, and a D- for contents. Great review, as always. Can't wait for the next one Battle Box especially. Love your channel. God bless!
"I'm adding a set of plastic silverware,.................... a plastic port decanter, a plastic candelabra and a plastic egyptian cotton table cloth, the plastic Wedgewood soup terrine, a plastic set of nut crackers for the lobster claws and of course, the plastic self playing grand piano ...." - loving this as usual, you are too kind to this manufacturer, especially as the best thing 120 bucks gets you is "a lot of space"!
Thanks for reviewing this particular backpack! Did not realize how dismal the products were inside. By the time you added all your stuff to it, it made an actual survival backpack! Kudos to you! Love the final result of this review!
I like seeing these different and often unique takes on survival kits. Whether they're good or bad is less of a concern for me. I like that they get my brain juices flowing. I like seeing some of the creativity. Heck, sometimes, I enjoy seeing the bad kits more than the good ones.
As usual, a great video. Your presentations are very comprehensive. I am glad I found your channel. Thank you from Switzerland and have a nice weekend. 🇺🇸🇨🇭👍
I don't know what it is but I've seen some awesome backpacks and very very expensive and have all the great features but for some reason that little light beacon on this backpack is the best thing I've ever seen LOL.. I just keep staring at it and thinking that's one of the coolest ideas I've ever seen ever. Great video one of my favorite channels still
When you first held up the bag to the camera, there did not look to be that much in it and there wasn't. I was very impressed by the upgrades, so much good kit plus the final weight was really kept down. Also any kit that has a Leatherman Wingman and a Mora Companion in it gets my vote every time.
I expected way more from the "Wings of Life". I expected the wings to be inflatable, or fold out and be a big solar panel to charge devices, or something more than just flaps with pockets. And boy, what a rip off. From the thumb-nail this looked empty, and it mostly was. And there's so much stuff missing, not even a cheap ferro rod? Great video as always, Eric!
Just moment before You said so, i thought "this is the worst of Life Gear set. Or actually is one of the worst sets..." But as always You fixed it - not that this kit deserved that much attention - just regular cheap semi tactical backpack (eg. helikon-tex EDC bag) would be more comfortable to wear for longer walks. Thanks for Your work Eric! That was pleasure to watch.
@@that_megan I totally agree. Personally for go-bag i'm using Helikon-Tex B.O.B. backpack (can you tell) and it's by design made to be more like fancy drone bag, than tactical equipment.
120$ Christ, I would never buy this, at any price really, it's a misleading "survival" backpack, like seriously, toiletries... This is just cashing in on ignorant people who would buy it out of a sense of false security at worst, plus I'd choose a Rush24 over this backpack to put all of your good gear in
If you compare this with some of the Esee sets or kits, it is really funny to see what stuff comes with that backpack. Great video and even very cool, that you also review stuff that is not as good as others. Honest and very informative as always.
Cool Bud. I got one of those Mora knives. Mine was on sale for 9.95. Damn good knife. You had some other interesting items that I am going to check out. That charger looks good. I think all the stuff you put in is worth more than the wings of life. Also replace those gloves. Thanks again for a good review.
You may think about using your food sealer to seal the clothes you have in your pack. I did this years ago for my husband when he was in the military. If keeps your socks and underwear clean and dry. I also use the sealer for the tea lights, if you put a small bit of cardboard or foil on the top of the tealight it will keep it's shape if it gets hot, you could even use something like saran wrap for the lights. I live in the desert, where it gets quite hot, and the tealights would otherwise be a melted mess.
Your channel is a lot of fun man, thank you for this. The only thing I would consider myself would be to add a real flashlight. That lantern can be quite helpful so I'm not sure if I would ditch it, but for sure would add a quality (probably 18650 powered) handheld flashlight. Again, fantastic channel! Thank you!
The glare on the knife when testing it on the back of your hand made me gasp. Especially after hearing you say "It's not sharp. At least I don't think it is."
Love how you always try to turn a piece of crab into something useful in an emergency situation, successfully this time I think. Could you please try to give an estimation on the costs for additional gear? Thanks for your efforts.
3 things l would have added.... Paracord, maybe titan survivor cord or a mil.spec Paracord... A base plate compass since you added a map, it would serve you better than the 3in1 whistle survival tool thing... And last but not least a Ferro rod and tinder ... As always your review and upgrades were what made it better... Thank you for the review
Hygiene kit. Interesting choice by the company. Its good to know that whilst dying of hypothermia in the rain, I can shampoo and style my hair. 👌 I can understand antiseptic wipes, compact toothbrush and maybe some powdered paste for a morale boost, hygiene is kind of low in the list of priorities for a survival marketed kit.
I think the hygiene kit is a great idea- not usually seen. Staying clean is something i think alot of people overlook when it comes to survival for more than a day or two- not only is it a morale boost but also will help keep you from catching infections / getting sick. Plus if you’re in an area with predators- would help hide your scent
At 2 minutes in my spidey senses went 😞... after seeing your additions, bravo. The shock cord on the outside would be good for a jacket. Move the Leatherman & knife to your belt in a real deal situation & maybe add 2 4mm contractors bags. But man, the original kit was one of the worst reviewed in the history of this channel. Excellent save! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I like rhe bag but agree it could be made better with more pouches. I think more strapping areas also such as a place to store a heavy coat or such on the bottom. I like the bungee cord inside the wings but think pouches should be under the cord. Maybe a pouch or three on the outside of each wing or maybe MOLLIE webbing on the outside instead of pouches.
working my way through your videos and really enjoying them. Some of the stuff you get up there in the states is really cool. Because of Covid things are getting hard to obtain down here in New Zealand. Any way, you havent made your own big emergency kit yet like you said you were going to. So as they say "no time like the present". How about doing your dream kit with just the gear you own and make it at least a level 2 and belt portable. Cheers Stu
Looks amazing. Too bad it's been discontinued. Which, after Kitbashed showed us what was in it (or not in it) is not a huge surprise. Lack-lustre is the word I'd use, but at least there was space to add the rest of the essentials.

what premade pack for consumer hiker is ever complete. Fire , light ( batteries ) better medical cause the manufacture to ship, market and distribute differently. It's a starter or day hikers walk the park bag. The company that puts out the 50 , 500 or there 5000 dollar pack you expect more.

You’re right, that kit was awful. Question for you? Would you consider doing a video that discusses what you consider to be the best tools to include in a survival kit? I’ve seen you use both Leatherman and Victorinox products along with the Morakniv. Just curious as to which models you consider the best.

Yeah, dollar store stuff inside. All "complete" survival kits are a biiit of a rip-off, but this is atrocious at $120
I like how you rebuild the kit.
