iPhone is behind Samsung in innovation. Example. Samsung is out with a 5th model of Samsung Fold.
Apple is lot of hype and less substance.

India has a problem with wealth distribution and that is actually bound to get worse, not better, as India grows. The people at Apple know what they are doing with pricing. They are a luxury brand, not a phone company. The small segment of Indians that are rapidly rising in wealth want to flaunt they have an iPhone. Making them accessible to everyone would just make them everyday phones and then Apple would have to compete on performance and price, where it would get trounced by Android.
Apple will make more money by selling fewer phones at much higher profit margins than trying to sell more phones at lower margins.
Apple pricing is working as intended.

The difference is in the 30% import duties of the Pro models, the regular 15 & 15 Plus models are assembled in India, so they don't have to pay those duties. The 15's base 128 GB can cost 72K-75K in the U.S. including the additional 8.5% to 13% tax. Here in India you have an HDFC card, then you can get it in India at the same price of 75K with 5K instant discount. If Pro models were also made in India, their 128 GB starting price would've been the same as an made in india iPhone 15 Plus 256 GB model which is 99,999 without the 30% import duty that we are paying currently for the China & Vietnam imported models.

After iPhone 11 there has not been any great innovative feature added to iPhones latest models to justify the hefty cost except features like pro res and cinematic video. There are mobiles with much better display and speakers available in the market that too at less than half of iPhone’s price. There’s no point going crazy every year for so called “new” iPhone models

I have used both type of smartphones and currently I am using iPhone 11 since last 4 years. And the best thing I have noticed in iPhone is how consistent its performance is even after 4 years. It is as fast as it was when I bought it. Camera is still holding good even with current same range Androids. So apart from advertising the other good thing apple does is focusing on performance. I would not go for their promax series (bcz I can't afford), but next year I will swap this 11 with basic 15. If it is lasting this long, then certainly it worths.
And let's not forget their software updates. There is no discrimination with older models and all phones receive the update same day same time. I have received two updates by now and minimum three more I will get if I continue to use this phone. These all makes it a solid purchase.

My Samsung phone also works AS GOOD as it did when new even after 4 years. Its Camera also works AS GOOD as it did 4 years ago. And I also get regular software updates and will continue to do so for years. 😂
Never understood why Apple users make such a big deal out of such BASIC things being offered, especially when they are paying 4 times more for the same or sometimes lesser features than a similar android phone. 😂😂

    • @hiraeth5574
      @hiraeth5574 8 місяців тому +3

@@rahul.83 those 4 years software update is available only in high end Samsung phones and those high end Samsung phones cost just the same as iphones. So now discussing cost is a thing of the past because even OnePlus is selling their phones in the same price range as iPhone. And if you go for the costliest models it is again Samsung with their fold models. So let PPL enjoy with wat they think is worth of their money instead of ridiculing them with no solid reasons

"I guess it is a cult", yep, couldn't have said it better myself. Years ago(maybe over a decade atp), I bought an iPod Touch just so I could play games with a small form factor. It was an OK device, until it started having issues, and then I took it to the local Apple Store at the nearest mall. I walked in and I swear I never felt this sense of unease before, as everyone shopping just looked like glazed over zombies(I shit you not). I had an appointment, and I got in and out as fast as I could, as I felt like a person of color walking in to a KKK rally. I just felt like everyone could tell I was a poser and not really in to Apple products, and I just had an uneasy feeling being in there.
Well, long story short, the guy who helped me said something was wrong that would require hundreds of dollars to fix, which the device was even worth. So I left, tackled the problem at home, and eventually fixed it myself, after the Apple employee told me it couldn't be done. Needless to say, that was my last Apple device, and I haven't been near another product or back to that store since. Calling it a cult, honestly might be to kind of a word, as being in that store was creepy as hell.

I definitely like Palki, I think she is the best thing that has happened to journalism in recent times. I also think that whenever she talks about Apple, it is far from reality. Few points: 1) Apple has been innovating every year and the M series Apple Silicon chips are latest examples. I never thought of working on a laptop which has two days of battery life and which is as silent as MacBook. 2) Judging by iterative iPhones updates is silly. Smartphones upgrade cycles are more like 3 to 4 years these days. Features like satellite connectivity, LIDAR scanner, are massive innovations. 3) There is absolutely no other company like Apple when it comes to fulfilling its commitment towards environment. The word ‘Innovation’ shouldn’t be confined just to tech, for a CEO of size of the company like Apple to come out in open and publicly commit to producing every Apple product in a carbon neutral way is no small achievement. 4) To assume that consumers are just following the Apple cult and buying the products is equivalent to suffering from selective amnesia syndrome.

I have been using iPhone since iPhone 5 was launched, those were the days when new launches really seemed like new launches.
    Disappointment this year.
5 to 6 was a nice change, 8 to X series was a good change, X to 11pro was a good change, however it has been a stagnating design since then. Hope they do something better.

@Palki - Apple as a stock and Apple as an iPhone maker are highly correlated things but they are not the same. The reason for Apple‘s growth in the share prices is not solely due to iPhone but also to the vast array of services as well as other products that they have been growing in the past few years. In fact, you might want to check the %age growth on iPhone‘s share in Apple’s revenues over the last 5 years and compare that with the same with that of their other offerings for a better analysis.

Only small amounts of iPhones are being made in India today and most of the essential components are still imported from China. So only slight decrease in overall tax expense but big increase in logistics. The idea of bringing some of the Apple value chain to India is more a geopolitical push by Washington than a natural commercial decision. It is hoped that Apple's slice in Indian market will grow and the operation will make sense as the Indian middle class increases over time. Right now the economies of scale probably aren't quite there yet, it'll be interesting to see how profitable is it for Apple in India at the moment.

For the higher prices, India is not only country where iPhones are more expensive, Germany, Turkey and many countries have the same problem but it is almost always related to the local taxes. Some countries impose additional taxes in addition to VAT, and sometimes, these taxes are not published clearly. Also, Tim Cook didn’t say he wants everyone in the middle class to have an iPhone Pro Max, there are many other iPhones at a much cheaper price. The best thing about iPhones is you don’t have to upgrade 😅. Trust me, I’m still using my 4 year old XR, and I’ve never felt the need to upgrade. Yes, newer cellular technologies like 5G can be a push, but when it comes to the device performance, stability and security updates, it just keeps going on. Before my XR I’ve been an Android user, and I had to change my phone almost every year because manufacturers that time didn’t support updates for more than 2 years, or worse, not even a year. Phones became slow over the period of time and worse, they had security flaws which were not patched. However things have changed with manufacturers now claiming longer shelf life with 3-4 years of Android updates, hopefully the devices can support that. Apple is a closed ecosystem, Android is not, excluding Pixel
