Going Deep Into Sumatra's Wilderness 🇮🇩

- Today I'm going out with Abel and his brothers to do a little exploring in the countryside of South Sumatra. We first set off to go check out a local coffee plantation. On the way there, we cut through many cool little villages in the mountains. In one of the villages, they were having a wedding and we stopped to say hello and to take a bunch of pictures. From there we made it to the coffee plantation where we got to check out how they process the coffee from start to finish. It is a much bigger operation than the one Ibnu is doing in Jember. This part of Indonesia produces the most coffee in all of Indonesia, so you can imagine its operation would be a little more extensive than just one man and his mother roasting coffee out of the back of their home.
After the coffee plantation, we rode another hour plus to a beautiful lake somewhere in the middle of nowhere. This is where things got really rough. Driving around these parts of Indonesia, you see some of the most beautiful nature, but you also have to deal with some of the most beat-up roads in the world. Man, I feel sorry for the people that have to use the roads every day, and there are a lot of them. These roads are only passable by motorbikes, motorbikes loaded with vegetables and/or carrying two or three people up and down these dangerous roads.
Once we got to the lake, we met a wonderful family. We took a peaceful boat ride around the lake and I had a nice frisbee session with one of the kids.
Great day in Sumatra 😁
