It feels like ZSS has to work 20x harder in this matchup ngl. Marss was in control the whole first game and then got hit a couple times and lost. That’s the game ig.
Tbh I feel like ZSS holds Marss back. He’s clearly a top 10 level player skill wise. Character just doesn’t do enough damage and loses to shield camping.

Also his specials are annoying, side B has deceptively long range and you have to shield for like 3 full seconds, Up B kills at like 80%, it's one of the worst matchups for ZSS I think

Genuine question since they were talking about counterpicking a character at the beginning. Is there a limit to how any characters you can play in one match? Obviously like if it’s a bo3 or bo5 you have at most 3-5 games but are you stuck to 1-3 characters or no? Same for a grand finals reset, can you change characters all 10 games???
yes you can play 10 characters but at the top level it's incredibly unlikely that someone will have 10 characters in their pockets that they play well enough to beat another top player with that's playing their main.

There's an incredible precision in top play that I only started really noticing when I began competing myself :D there's much more going on than initially meets the eye

Someone please change my view: I do not think ZSS’s grab is worth using. It’s incredibly laggy and she gets nothing off of it. Although now as I’m writing this, an opponent who picks up on someone never grab is just going to abuse shield.. anything else I may not be considering?
Yeah half of the time I regret using it... Actually I remember Marss saying "don't grab unless your opponent forces you to grab" (with ZSS), then I see 1:16 and I'm like, bruv, maybe even then don't risk grabbing
Marss himself has acknowledged that ZSS's grab sucks and on it's own is not worth going for, but he incorporates it into his playstyle to condition his opponents and also not to just lose to the opponent pressing shield. He has to do it or he just loses to a base game mechanic that every character has.
As another commenter said. It’s all for conditioning. If you grab shield every time they’re more likely to spot dodge or roll, so you can hit nair/down smash more ZSS also benefits a lot from stage control - when you’re in the corner vs ZSS you’re much more likely to get hit by Down Smash & Zair
Mars absolutely needs another character. Zss just aint it in ultimate it is what it is. Not saying to get rid of Zss but have another character if Zss isnt working.

I've always felt, Marss was the Spargo Kryptonite, I felt he always won or at least had little difficulty weather its the character(ZSS) or the player(Marss). But Marss stopped going to tourneys. I felt when Marss was there, he would take out spargo, then the top 16-8 was all the usual , light, cosmos, marss, leo, tweak, gluto, void, zomba, shadic - those types. Lowkey, he's a bit that way for Miya/Acola too.

I hate the use of the word “panic” from commentators . Spargo didn’t panic by throwing out the up b in stock 3 g1. It’s not a panic option if it works it’s smart gameplay , the up b was good game knowledge knowing the rage would make any follow up after the nair untrue, and mars air dodge that he died off of in g4 stock 3 wasn’t a panic air dodge. It was him respecting rising short hop back air, he just guessed wrong and died for it. You’re not panicking for accepting the reality of the situation. If spargo tried to air to air mars empty hop over the right platform spargo wins that interaction even if it trades, spargo also could cover landing on the platform with up b , up smash or any aerial.
